Happy Friday! We have had a really long week, but a good one. The kids have been exceptionally good (I feel like Ashton Kutcher is about to pop out at any moment) and the older two are going to their grandparent’s house this weekend so Ryan, Weston and I can go on a quick road trip to ATL to shop at IKEA! It will be my first time at IKEA and I am pretty excited about it! I mayyy try to talk Ryan into stopping by Nordstrom while we are there, but I haven’t broken that news to him yet…it may be a “on the way last minute decision to stop”…unless he is reading this.
5 Netflix Shows To Watch If You Love Fashion
We got Netflix again a couple of months ago, and let me tell you, I don’t know how I did it without for over a year! Of course, the main reason I subscribed again was to watch the new Gilmore Girls episodes, but I have really enjoyed watching it when Ryan is traveling or if I am in the mood to wind down with some television at night. If you have been around my blog for a while, you know how much I enjoy fashion. It has always been a passion of mine and I’ve always been really interested in it. These are some of my favorite shows to watch that have impeccable fashion sense.
A Break from Moving with NBC’s The Voice
Thank you to NBC for sponsoring today’s post and inspiring me to try NBC TVEverywhere!
Today is officially our last moving day! We are moving the last bit of our furniture and belongings over to my parent’s house. This move has been so bittersweet. The process itself has not been fun. We have been packing and moving boxes every spare moment for the last week now and we were out of town for 9 days before that. We were bummed because we missed out on all of our favorite T.V. shows. Lucky for us, we discovered a new way to watch T.V. without the T.V. On our desktop! We were literally able to catch up on our favorite NBC show, The Voice, while we were packing – which was awesome. We even created a fun and romantic date night out of it.
Saturday we went to a wedding and my in-laws kept our kids for us overnight so that we could get some packing done. We got so much done and thought we deserved a break, so we cuddled on the couch under blankets and caught up on The Voice. See? Packing can be fun! 😉
It not only made packing a little more fun, but we also got to catch up on the show we had missed -even though we had already moved our television. I absolutely hate to miss out on The Voice and watching Blake and Adam go back and forth. They crack me up. This season has been really fun because there is a contestant on the show who has made it pretty far who is from Alabama. We love to root for our hometown girls in this state!
We had an emotional few days packing up all of our belongings from our first 4 years of marriage and knowing we are leaving our first home – the house we came home to after our honeymoon and brought our babies home to for the first time. We are so excited to begin our next adventure and find the perfect next home for us. I’m excited that even through the chaos we can still catch up on our favorite NBC shows, like The Voice, on my laptop. This show gave us the perfect musical distraction we needed through our move and I love that we were able to watch T.V. without the T.V.
Check it out for yourself and watch full episodes here! Which NBC show are you into?
Odd Mom Out
This post is sponsored by Bravo. Opinions are my own.
I am beyond excited to share one of my new favorite TV shows with you – Odd Mom Out on Bravo! It is hilarious and so relatable. I was fortunate to be able to host a private screening party to view the show before it’s premiere on June 8th! It was a hit for both me and my best friend!
Jill (the main character and odd mom), reminded me so much of Lorelei Gilmore. She is quick, spunky and hilarious. I love the relationship between her and her best friend. Their honesty and humor remind me so much of me and my best friend’s relationship. After watching the first two episodes, I am so ready to see more. My DVR is officially set to record this new series and I can’t wait to watch episode 3!
I love how this show highlights the crazy competitiveness between moms in Jill’s world and how she is able to use her humor to lighten the mood in all situations, even when they are incredibly awkward. It reminds me so much of real life and I think most moms can relate.
For me, it was very relatable because I have definitely felt like the Odd Mom Out in several group situations lately. I am the only one in my group of friends that has two children (although I do have some that are currently pregnant with second children) and they just don’t quite get how difficult it can be and have definitely poked fun at me a little. I can’t wait for them to experience the craziness of having two babies close together. Through all situations – good and bad, Jill has a great support system in her husband and her best friend and that reminds me so much of my life. I can always go to my husband or BF for anything and they are always there for me…or brutally honest. haha

A Reintroduction and ALWB Announcement
Hi there! I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I can’t hold it in any longer so without further ado, I’m excited to announce that I will be joining the Alabama Women Bloggers as the Blogger of the Month Correspondent! I have been working with these ladies for a couple of weeks now, preparing and learning the ins and outs and I have loved getting to know them. I’ve also met some pretty incredible Alabama Bloggers that I didn’t even know existed. Who knew there were so many? I have also been re-branding and gained a few new followers lately, so I have been wanting to reintroduce myself to all of the newbies. I’m excited to get reacquainted with some of you and get to know others for the first time. So here is a little about me…

My name is Logan and I blog at Logan Can (formally, Southern Sunflowers and Coffee Beans) about my life as a new mom, fashion, books, fitness and whatever else comes to my mind.. My birthday is August 8th, 1988…Can you guess what my lucky number is? I’ve been blogging for almost 2 years now, although I have taken two mini breaks in between – once when I was really sick during my pregnancy and again right after I had my sweet Hampton. I started blogging to write book reviews, because I’m a bit of a book hoarder lover, and to journal my life as a newlywed. It quickly became an outlet for my writing/journaling and I have loved every minute of it. I wasn’t expecting to become friends with so many amazing women. I didn’t even know there was such a thing as a “blogging community” until I was several months into blogging. That is when I discovered link-ups and found all types of different bloggers that I had something in common with. We started emailing, tweeting, talking on the phone etc. and have formed actual friendships.
I was born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama, where I have lived my entire life – other than a few months that I lived in Auburn during my college years.
I married Ryan in October 2011. After 9 months of trying, several needles, and a few medications I became pregnant with my precious baby boy. He was born October 24, 2013. October is a pretty big month for us. My boys have been my biggest blessings. They bring me so much joy and laughter every day.
I graduated college in May 2011 with a degree in psychology. I had every intention on going back after getting married, but I still haven’t started back. I am kind of weird and actually enjoyed school. Especially my major. I have a heart for helping people and I feel like that is a huge calling in my life. Over the past few years, God has revealed that to me more and more because of certain people and situations he has placed in my life. I love to encourage others and give them hope. I would love to go back to school and become a counselor or a Psychologist, I just haven’t done it yet. Since graduation day – literally – I have worked as a web content manager for local restaurants and lawyers. It’s boring, but allows me to be home with Hampton while still bringing in the bacon.
I love to travel with my husband. It is a huge passion of ours. We actually just got back from a quick trip to Orlando. We love to visit new places and see new things. There are so many places I would love to move to, but you know that saying “there’s no place like home.” It’s true. I would miss our families so much if we moved, however, nothing is certain and we could move at any moment with Ryan’s slightly unpredictable job. We went to London and Paris for our honeymoon and it was one of the best memories of my life. It still feels like a dream that we went there. I feel like I could adapt to living in either of those cities. I’ve also always thought it would be so neat to live in California. Either the San Francisco area or maybe even Napa Valley. Speaking of, we are planning a trip to San Fran in the fall! We are so excited. I’m pretty adaptable, so I think I could really live anywhere, but I do think it would be tough to be too far away from our family.
As far as entertainment, I love, love, love to read, so when I get a free moment I usually turn to a book. When I’m not in the mood to read, I do turn on the T.V. to either Gilmore Girls or New Girl. I love the quick smart humor that GG gives us. Plus, it’s the best written show in the world. How can you not love it? I am also a huge movie buff. I thank my dad for that. It’s in my blood. I love any and all chick flicks, comedies and some action movies. I can’t handle all of that sci-fi mess. it’s definitely not my thing.
I actually have a whole post written on music and have yet to hit that Publish button. I am not really sure why. I’ll post it soon because I love music. I grew up dancing and continued to dance all through college. I have been exposed to so many genres of music over my life and have an extremely wide variety of taste. I was also raised by this man named Tommy, my dad, who forced me to listen to all things 70’s rock and old country. Thanks, dad. Side note, he was on tour with Molly Hatchet. If you don’t know who they are, google them. Needless to say, some of my favorites are: Aerosmith, Jimmy Buffet, Pink Floyd, The Eagles, Michael Jackson, Billy Joel, Willie Nelson, Loretta Lynn, Red Hot Chili Peppers….I could go on all day. Seriously. Be on the lookout for my post on music later next week.
My dream job is to become a travel blogger or write for a travel magazine. I can’t imagine how amazing that would be. To actually get paid to travel and write about food, museums, hotels, etc. I mean, I would do that for free. Can you imagine getting paid to do it? I follow so many successful travel blogs and they amaze and inspire me.

This year, I am most looking forward to our trips to Chicago and San Francisco, watching my baby grow during his first year of life (he is changing so much every day), celebrating our 3rd anniversary, and hopefully growing this blog space of mine. I am venturing out and starting to do a little bit of fashion blogging (if you haven’t already noticed) and it has been a lot of fun. They have become some of my favorite posts, and according to my stats, they are your favorites as well. I am really looking forward to getting to know more of you, and of course all of my Alabama ladies! I will be hunting down Bloggers of the Month every month and working with them, so be on the lookout for me! I’ve already enjoyed getting to know our June Blogger of the Month. Be sure to stop by and say hello to Catherine. She is kind of awesome.

10 Reasons I Love America (and you should too)
Here are 10 Reasons I Love America and you should, too:
One.
Freedom of Speech. Pretty obvious, no? Not only do I love the fact that as Americans, we can speak freely, but we can do so on national television while making absolute fools of ourselves a.k.a., reality T.V. That brings me to my next point.
Two.
You didn’t hear? Anyone can be on a reality show! Just marry rich, have a bunch of kids, get divorced and, bam! Reality show. Our freedom of speech rights create a lot of entertainment, that’s for sure. Thanks, reality T.V.!
Three
Football. This may be more of a southern thing, but when football season rolls around, it’s okay and even acceptable to avoid certain friends and family members because they pull for the opposing team. In fact, if you’re nice to them and invite them over for your Iron Bowl party, everyone will hate you for it. There will be trash talking involved. Maybe a few thrown chips…either way, things are sure to get interesting. Football is life during the fall season, and year round for some. Wear your team colors proud.
Four.
Holidays. Did you know we have a day dedicated to most all food, drinks, and inanimate objects as well as people? Every day on Instagram I’m finding out from someone that it is national hotdog day, or national white chocolate mocha day. Who knew we had so many holidays?
Five.
Speaking of hotdogs, that’s reason enough to love America, is it not? Add a little ketchup and mustard and your good to go!
Six.
Everyone works out. Everywhere I look someone is jogging, on their way to the gym, swimming, climbing things, jumping off of things and calling it “exercise.” Women (and some males) are pinning workout tips and gear on Pinterest which makes working out so tempting and seem so glamorous. I can wear pretty tanks and leggings and take selfies at the gym? Sign me up! After all, everyone is doing it!
Seven.
Our portion sizes are nearly (or maybe are) double the size of every other country’s. I had to go to a McDonald’s in Paris because the little French cafe gave us hardly any food on our plate. I have been really spoiled being brought up by women who cook – a lot. They prepare food for what looks like 10 when only expecting 5 and worry about not having enough. We rarely have leftovers. Maybe this is why everyone is obsessed with exercising? I can’t imagine why we have an obesity problem.
Eight.
Everyone is so friendly. I can walk to any of my neighbors houses and ask for a cup of sugar, and they’d invite me in, fix me a cup of coffee and send me home with a whole bag of sugar and freshly baked cookies. No really, that has happened to me. People are so willing to help others. A woman passed out in church a few weeks ago and at least 10 people helped her up and took her into the lobby to check on her during the sermon. We go on evening walks and always get stopped at least 4 or 5 times to talk to neighbors who check on the baby, give him gifts, etc. It’s like Mayberry.
Nine.
Instagram. We live to take pictures of our food, coffee, kid’s, outfits, the sky, whatever! Our entire week is worked around what we are going to post for Throwback Thursday or Woman Crush Wednesday. #mcm #tbt #wcw #fbf I can’t say it any better than this song. Have a listen, and #LOL
Ten.
Finally, on a more serious note, we are patriotic. We have so many young (and old, I assume) men and women that sign up to protect us. They devote their lives to our protection and freedom so that we can do things like raise our children in peace, participate in #tbt, and watch our favorite reality shows without limits (unless you don’t have tivo). Our children are taught the pledge of allegiance as soon as they can speak and many children know it in multiple languages now days. The American flag is flown every where and Americans are proud of their country. We can disagree on politics, but we come together in tragedies and war. We come together to celebrate holidays like Memorial Day because we are proud of our troops. We love them and the hard work they put in to protecting us and the time they give up with their own families to do so.
Happy Memorial Day weekend! Lay out by a pool, eat a few hotdogs, sing songs about America and relax! I know I will be. 🙂
Why do you love America? What are your plans this holiday weekend? Will you be laying by a pool or going to the beach?
