A Reintroduction and ALWB Announcement
Hi there! I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I can’t hold it in any longer so without further ado, I’m excited to announce that I will be joining the Alabama Women Bloggers as the Blogger of the Month Correspondent! I have been working with these ladies for a couple of weeks now, preparing and learning the ins and outs and I have loved getting to know them. I’ve also met some pretty incredible Alabama Bloggers that I didn’t even know existed. Who knew there were so many? I have also been re-branding and gained a few new followers lately, so I have been wanting to reintroduce myself to all of the newbies. I’m excited to get reacquainted with some of you and get to know others for the first time. So here is a little about me…

My name is Logan and I blog at Logan Can (formally, Southern Sunflowers and Coffee Beans) about my life as a new mom, fashion, books, fitness and whatever else comes to my mind.. My birthday is August 8th, 1988…Can you guess what my lucky number is? I’ve been blogging for almost 2 years now, although I have taken two mini breaks in between – once when I was really sick during my pregnancy and again right after I had my sweet Hampton. I started blogging to write book reviews, because I’m a bit of a book hoarder lover, and to journal my life as a newlywed. It quickly became an outlet for my writing/journaling and I have loved every minute of it. I wasn’t expecting to become friends with so many amazing women. I didn’t even know there was such a thing as a “blogging community” until I was several months into blogging. That is when I discovered link-ups and found all types of different bloggers that I had something in common with. We started emailing, tweeting, talking on the phone etc. and have formed actual friendships.
I was born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama, where I have lived my entire life – other than a few months that I lived in Auburn during my college years.
I married Ryan in October 2011. After 9 months of trying, several needles, and a few medications I became pregnant with my precious baby boy. He was born October 24, 2013. October is a pretty big month for us. My boys have been my biggest blessings. They bring me so much joy and laughter every day.
I graduated college in May 2011 with a degree in psychology. I had every intention on going back after getting married, but I still haven’t started back. I am kind of weird and actually enjoyed school. Especially my major. I have a heart for helping people and I feel like that is a huge calling in my life. Over the past few years, God has revealed that to me more and more because of certain people and situations he has placed in my life. I love to encourage others and give them hope. I would love to go back to school and become a counselor or a Psychologist, I just haven’t done it yet. Since graduation day – literally – I have worked as a web content manager for local restaurants and lawyers. It’s boring, but allows me to be home with Hampton while still bringing in the bacon.
I love to travel with my husband. It is a huge passion of ours. We actually just got back from a quick trip to Orlando. We love to visit new places and see new things. There are so many places I would love to move to, but you know that saying “there’s no place like home.” It’s true. I would miss our families so much if we moved, however, nothing is certain and we could move at any moment with Ryan’s slightly unpredictable job. We went to London and Paris for our honeymoon and it was one of the best memories of my life. It still feels like a dream that we went there. I feel like I could adapt to living in either of those cities. I’ve also always thought it would be so neat to live in California. Either the San Francisco area or maybe even Napa Valley. Speaking of, we are planning a trip to San Fran in the fall! We are so excited. I’m pretty adaptable, so I think I could really live anywhere, but I do think it would be tough to be too far away from our family.
As far as entertainment, I love, love, love to read, so when I get a free moment I usually turn to a book. When I’m not in the mood to read, I do turn on the T.V. to either Gilmore Girls or New Girl. I love the quick smart humor that GG gives us. Plus, it’s the best written show in the world. How can you not love it? I am also a huge movie buff. I thank my dad for that. It’s in my blood. I love any and all chick flicks, comedies and some action movies. I can’t handle all of that sci-fi mess. it’s definitely not my thing.
I actually have a whole post written on music and have yet to hit that Publish button. I am not really sure why. I’ll post it soon because I love music. I grew up dancing and continued to dance all through college. I have been exposed to so many genres of music over my life and have an extremely wide variety of taste. I was also raised by this man named Tommy, my dad, who forced me to listen to all things 70’s rock and old country. Thanks, dad. Side note, he was on tour with Molly Hatchet. If you don’t know who they are, google them. Needless to say, some of my favorites are: Aerosmith, Jimmy Buffet, Pink Floyd, The Eagles, Michael Jackson, Billy Joel, Willie Nelson, Loretta Lynn, Red Hot Chili Peppers….I could go on all day. Seriously. Be on the lookout for my post on music later next week.
My dream job is to become a travel blogger or write for a travel magazine. I can’t imagine how amazing that would be. To actually get paid to travel and write about food, museums, hotels, etc. I mean, I would do that for free. Can you imagine getting paid to do it? I follow so many successful travel blogs and they amaze and inspire me.

This year, I am most looking forward to our trips to Chicago and San Francisco, watching my baby grow during his first year of life (he is changing so much every day), celebrating our 3rd anniversary, and hopefully growing this blog space of mine. I am venturing out and starting to do a little bit of fashion blogging (if you haven’t already noticed) and it has been a lot of fun. They have become some of my favorite posts, and according to my stats, they are your favorites as well. I am really looking forward to getting to know more of you, and of course all of my Alabama ladies! I will be hunting down Bloggers of the Month every month and working with them, so be on the lookout for me! I’ve already enjoyed getting to know our June Blogger of the Month. Be sure to stop by and say hello to Catherine. She is kind of awesome.

What are you looking forward to this year? What do you love most about blogging?
Get to know the girl behind the blog (part 2)
You asked and I am here to answer! Let’s get right to it!
1) How do you handle pressure?
-This is a great question! If I’m feeling a lot of pressure to get something done, I normally stress out for a minute and then hunker down and get it done. If it is not work related and a little more personal, I normally like to exercise (run, walk, etc.) to calm down and clear my head, pray about it and then make a decision. I don’t like to jump the gun. I take a little longer to process things so I don’t make a rash decision.
2) Why did you start blogging? What motivates you to blog?
-I started blogging to journal my life. I actually didn’t even tell anyone (other than my husband) that I had a blog for nearly a year because it was kind of my escape, but I did give in and tell a couple of family members and close friends. I love to read and I wanted to discuss the books that I read. I never knew it would turn into meeting a ton of amazing women and even creating friendships. I get motivated to blog when I have something to say. That may mean posting every day one week and not at all the next. Lately I have loved documenting my pregnancy journey on here so that I can look back and read through the posts and be reminded of this little miracle.
3) What has been your strangest post topic?
-I had a hard time answering this question. I don’t know that I’ve had a really strange post topic. The only thing I really came across was when I participated in My Harry Potter Fix and created an outfit for Hermione. I am a big HP fan so to me it wasn’t strange, but extremely fun. However, I’m sure some of you probably thought it was strange.
4) How did you and your husband meet?
-We met in Gatlinburg, Tennessee on NYE in 2007/2008 when a group of mutual friends went on vacation there for the holiday weekend. We hit it off right away and have been together ever since.
5) Favorite blog post to date?
– I have many, but one popped into my mind when I saw this question. I really enjoyed The Facts of Me link-up post that Whitney hosted a while back. I loved reading everyone’s posts in that link-up and enjoyed writing my own as well.
Questions – Get to know the girl behind the blog
Throwback pic! Did you know I used to be blonde? I think I’ll stick to brown. |
Since day one I made it my mission to be real on this blog. I want to be honest, state my opinions and let my readers feel like I’m a real person sitting behind this computer and not just a robot rambling nonsense. I love to read blogs that are honest and real and I wouldn’t want to be anything different. I love getting to know other bloggers and I thought you might like to know me on a more personal level as well. With that being said, please feel free to ask me any questions! It can be about my blog, marriage, pregnancy, Christianity, books, living in Alabama, etc. Please ask as many questions as you’d like! Either post them in the comment section or email them to me (loganab8 at gmail dot com). I will answer them next week! Ready. Set. Ask!!
~P.S. I created an Instagram account for my blog so that I wouldn’t annoy my non-blogger friends with posts. I would love it if you followed me!
Also, I just added a new ad spot for only $2! It is also available for swaps!
