13 Week Baby Update

April 24, 2013

How far along? 13 1/2 weeks
Baby Size: almost 3 inches long about the size of a kiwi.
Total weight gain: 3lbs. (yikes!)
Maternity clothes? Not yet! My jeans are starting to get uncomfortable so I’ve been wearing a lot of nike shorts and dresses.
Food cravings: Grapes and Tomatoes. I loved them before I was pregnant but nothing like this. I’ve gone through 2 bags of grapes and 5 tomatoes so far this week.
Feeling: I’ve still been pretty nauseous and extremely tired. Yesterday was my worst sick day so far. I couldn’t even keep down saltines. I felt like I had a stomach virus it was so bad. I’m definitely ready for the sickness to pass, or at least not hit me every day.
Best moment this week: Meeting my best friends baby. He is so precious and it made me really excited for our little one.
Sleep: I’ve been waking up at least 2 times per night to use the bathroom. Other than that I’ve been sleeping okay.
Miss Anything? COFFEE!! I know a lot of women still drink coffee during pregnancy, but I gave it up just to be safe and it is killing me! I’ve gone 9 weeks without it. Also, queso dip. I love Mexican food and not eating cheese dip has been so difficult.
Movement: No movement yet. I think I’m still several weeks from that, but I can’t wait to feel a kick for the first time!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Meat and eggs.
Looking forward to: Starting my second trimester in a couple of days! Hopefully I will start to feel better then.
Best Pregnancy Moment: When Ryan bought me From Pea to Pumpkin: A Pregnancy Journal. I have loved keeping up with everything in this journal from week to week. It also shows your baby’s size and weight each week. It was the perfect gift and I highly recommend it.

Congrats on baby! I'm currently 21 weeks and had all-day nausea until around week 14. Then it got a LOT better. I hope it's the same for you! I didn't know you weren't supposed to eat queso dip while pregnant…don't know if I could stay away from that either!

I live on coffee and gave it up during my first trimester too. I did half-caff during the rest of my pregnancy otherwise I would have snapped, haha.

A pregnancy journal is a great idea! I keep up with my stuff on my blog, BUT it's self guided. I have a feeling your journal is a little more Q&A? I like getting prompts and then answering the questions. 🙂
    Congrats to you!
