I have been so excited since last Friday to write this post! You guys know I was put on moderate bedrest 5 weeks ago because of some bleeding and cramping and I was diagnosed with placenta previa. Let me back up and say that I started bleeding – a lot – Thursday night. I was freaking out because this was a lot more than just spotting. I could feel baby boy moving around like he was fine which was reassuring, but all the bleeding was scaring me. I went to the doctor first thing the next morning and they ordered an ultrasound…then a second ultrasound. They still have no idea where the bleeding was coming from. That has been a little unsettling, but they also informed me that the previa has completely resolved itself! At 23 weeks pregnant! Something they didn’t think would happen until my 8th month! I am BEYOND happy and I immediately started thanking God and haven’t stopped. That was the best news this girl could have ever been given.

Amazon Prime Day Picks
It’s Amazon Prime Day! I did not shop the sale last year, and am currently saving my money for Nordstrom’s big Anniversary sale (starting Thursday for cardholders), so I’m not sure how much shopping I’ll do today, but here are a few of my favorite picks and sales! I will update throughout the day if I find more great deals.
Lake Day
Happy Monday, dolls! I hope you had a fantastic weekend! We had a great time at the lake with Ryan’s family on Saturday and spent the day yesterday recouping and recharging for the week. Meaning, we were super lazy. Lake days are so much fun and absolutely wear us out which is great because for our family, that means excellent naps. Thumbs up! Our lake day began at breakfast and we stayed for a while after dinner and it was perfect. Honestly, I think my favorite memory from the day was being caught on the boat in the rain a pretty god ways from the house. It was pelting us and we were all laughing so hard trying to get back. Our poor Pop Pop couldn’t hardly see through the ran so we paused under the bridge for a couple of minutes and then went the rest of the way. It was hilarious and we were soaked. Towels and all.
My Pregnancy Skin Care Routine
During my pregnancy with Hampton, I caked shea butter on my stomach and hips every day, but still got stretch marks. With Sophie, I knew I wanted to try something different. I read on other blogs that some women were using coconut oil and thought I would give it a try! It worked wonders because I didn’t get any new stretch marks! Hallelujah! This pregnancy, my face has been breaking out like crazy. It’s disgusting and has been driving me insane. I knew I needed to do some research and make more of an effort as far as a pregnancy skin care routine if I wanted anything to change.
I came across TULA products and read wonderful things about them. TULA means “balance” in Sanskrit and they use probiotics in every product that nourish your body. I knew I wanted to try the purifying face scrub and revitalizing eye cream, for sure. The dark circles under my eyes have been terrible lately – probably due to my lack of sleep (hello, pregnancy insomnia). I have been using TULA products for a couple of weeks now and love them! I’m always nervous to try new skin care products because I am very picky, but I am so glad I tried these because I am a new fan.
My pregnancy skin care routine is simple. I wash my face and moisturize it every morning and every night right before bed. I put on the eye cream right before bed every night. I cake my stomach, hips, butt and legs in coconut oil multiple times a day (at least three) or every time I’m feeling dry/itchy.
That’s it! I have been able to tell a difference in my skin these last couple of weeks and I can’t wait to see how much it improves over time. There is no time like the present to get your skin under control – pregnant, or not! AmIright?
I received product for this post but opinions are my own.
Fourth of July Weekend 2016
Today, I’m going to share a few snaps from the last few days. Fourth of July weekend is always so special for my family. We celebrate 5 birthdays in our family and always get together for BBQ, a pool day and fireworks! It is a fun day. We even added in the parade of the little town that our family is moving to in November not too far away from where we currently live. My grandparents live out there and it is fun going to the little parade with our big family. My kids loved it – mostly for the candy that was constantly thrown at them. Hampton also loves seeing the firetruck every year. He even got a little tour of it this year and thought it was so cool. We may have a little firefighter on our hands…
S’mores Rice Crisps and an Easy Clean-Up Solution

To me, summer is all about lazy days in the sun and spending lots of time with family and friends. We seem to always have company around or passing through town and it is a good idea (and much less stressful) if we keep our kitchen clean and prepared for guests. That means making it sparkle, decorating for the season and always having some sort of baked treat – like one of my favorites, S’mores Rice Crisps!
CARE for South Sudan
When I was 5 years old, I was in kindergarten. I loved The Little Mermaid and playing with friends. My biggest worry was whether I’d have a peanut butter or turkey and cheese sandwich for lunch that day. Zeieya is 5 years old. She doesn’t go to school. She has no toys. She collects firewood for money and pretends to cook dirt for fun. She hardly has clean water to drink and lost her home during the war in 2014.
Hearing these heart wrenching stories makes me ache. My kids pitch a fit over not getting to watch a second episode of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and here this little girl has nothing. My first thought is, what can I do? CARE is an organization that fights poverty by empowering women and children. A little bit of money can provide weeks worth of clean water to children who are all too used to drinking dirty water. It can provide food and nutritional needs to these malnourished children. South Sudan is the youngest country. It is turning 5 years old this month. Help celebrate by helping these precious children. You can learn more about South Sudan and the Sudanese by visiting CARE’s website.
The Perfect Summer Side Dish with Suddenly Salads
The holiday weekend is FINALLY here! I am so happy to have Ryan home and family coming later this weekend! We have lots of fun things happening. The parade, BBQs, lots of pool time and family time and I am so excited to get my hands of my favorite twins! My kids have not been a huge fan of the pool this summer, but I am hoping to change that this weekend. Hopefully with a little encouragement and motivation (and peer-pressure) they will enjoy it. When I went to Public to grab a few things for the weekend, I picked up a delicious Suddenly Salad Pasta that I know will make everyone happy.
21 Weeks Pregnant
This week has been a lot of fun. We had Vacation Bible School at church. My kids really enjoyed it – until the last night. They both lost it and pitched royal fits but, it happens, right? VBS gave my kids something different to do this week which was nice. I also enjoyed doing the craft room with all of our littles. We have a ton of kids at our church and I love getting to work with them. They are so much fun. Also, hello 21 weeks! I’m over that halfway mark which is both scary and a little relieving at the same time. I am praying so hard for this baby to grow, grow, grow and hang in there. I have had a lot of cramping and pains again this week, but it has been a tough week to really relax. My MIL kept my kids for a few hours the other day and I got a lot of work related things done, but I swear I am having the hardest time relaxing. I have learned that resting does not come easy or natural to me, but for the health of my baby boy, I’m just going to have to get over it because I can tell a big difference in the days I do rest and the days I don’t.
Preparing for a Holiday with Toddlers
We have a big holiday weekend coming up and all of our family is coming to town. We have plans to eat a big breakfast at my grandmother’s house, go to the 4th of July parade and then head back to my parent’s house to swim and cookout later that afternoon before everyone has to head back home. It is going to be a busy but fun weekend! If you’re like me, you are already thinking of how your toddler seems to know when it is a special day and decides not to nap, pitch fits, etc. Mine do it every Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. I swear, they just know. I like to prepare ahead as much as I can for these big days to try and avoid as many toddler disasters as possible.
