S’mores Rice Crisps and an Easy Clean-Up Solution

To me, summer is all about lazy days in the sun and spending lots of time with family and friends. We seem to always have company around or passing through town and it is a good idea (and much less stressful) if we keep our kitchen clean and prepared for guests. That means making it sparkle, decorating for the season and always having some sort of baked treat – like one of my favorites, S’mores Rice Crisps!

S'mores Rice Crisps

How to prepare your kitchen for summer guests:

Summer Kitchen Decor

-Change out your regular kitchen towels for decorative summer towels.

Scotch-Brits Scrubbing Dish Cloth

Target Scotch-Brite

-Keep your kitchen clean at all times. My favorite discovery this past week was the new Scotch-Brite® Scrubbing Dish Cloths at Target in the kitchen tools section! I saw these adorable two packs and the fun colors (coral, mint, navy and gray) and had to try them! I have been so impressed with how well they clean and scrub without scratching my dishes. They give you both the wiping and drying function of a dish cloth. I also love that you can wash and reuse them while they remain good and sturdy! These dish cloths are made with premium textured fiber with scrubbing dots technology originating from their stay clean sponges. They are so worth the $4.99 I spent on them! While there are no current Cartwheel deals on Scotch-Brite, offers do frequently pop up, so check your app often!

-Change out your soap for season-friendly decorative soap. Whether it is placing a bar of soap on a summer inspired dish or finding a bright and cheerful soap dispenser, this one detail can really brighten a room. Plus, it’s practical.

Rice Krispies

-Put a summer table runner on your table to dress it up for the season. I found this one at Target and it was so perfect for adding color to my white table.

Have a Sweet Treat waiting for your guests when they arrive. I have learned from my grandmother that it is important to always have something baked or a sweet treat around for your guests. I never go to her house without there being something waiting on me, and I’ve always thought it was so warm and welcoming to have a treat waiting for your guests.

Ingredients

  • 7 cups rice cereal
  • 16 oz. bag marshmallows (one cup set aside)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (set aside)
  • 1/2 cup butter

Instructions

  • Place butter and marshmallows in a mixing bowl (leaving one cup set aside for later). Heat in the microwave in 20 second intervals - stirring in between until completely melted. You can also do this in a sauce pan if you prefer. Once melted, pour the rice cereal into the bowl and mix it all together. Let it cool for 10 minutes and then add in your chocolate chips and the rest of your marshmallows. Stir it up then spread and pack it in a pan or baker and let them cool for at least 30 minutes before eating.

S'mores Rice Krispies RecipeScotch-BriteScotch-Brits Scrubbing Dish Cloth

Last weekend, we had lots of family in town and I made S’mores Rice Crisps! They were a huge hit, so much that they were mostly eaten by my family before our guests even arrived! I think I have a little hit on my hands! The only negative about making these is that they leave my pans and mixing bowls so sticky. This time, that was not a problem because I had my “supercharged” Scotch-Brite Scrubbing Dish Cloths! They worked like magic on my dishes and the scrubbing power made the clean up so easy! They are handy because I can clean pretty much everything in my kitchen with these gems, and no longer use my nail or a knife to get the most stubborn stuck on spots.

These are great. I like that the cloths are washable and sturdy. I’ve been trying to get myself away from using sponges, since they hang on to so much bacteria. I also love the idea of having a sweet treat ready for your guests. I bet that makes you the kind of hostess that family just love to come see!
