I am officially 18 weeks pregnant with baby #3! This is an exciting week for us as we are going to the doctor tomorrow to find out the gender of our sweet little blessing and check up on him/her! Confession: I mayyy already have a pretty good idea what the baby is. 😉 However, I will feel a lot better about announcing it once it is confirmed again tomorrow. This pregnancy has been so weird. I have been more sick this time around than with my first two and I have craved salty things (like I did with Sophie) but it wasn’t until I really popped out a couple of weeks ago that I knew. I also found out that my uterus is tilted forward again like it was with Hamp, meaning I will look about 5 weeks ahead of what I actually am. Again. haha I’ve already heard “you’re only 18 weeks pregnant?” but, it is okay. As long as my little one is growing and healthy, I am happy!
Tips to Transition Your Toddler From A Bottle
My son was so easy to transition from formula and a bottle. One day I put milk in his bottle and he acted like he didn’t even notice. The next week I put it in a sippy cup and again, he acted like he didn’t notice. I was shocked because so many people had warned me of the ordeal that was transitioning from bottle to sippy cup and from formula or breast milk to milk. Going through it again now with Sophie is completely different. She yells and crys until she gets her bottle every night. She will not go to sleep unless she gets it and she refuses to drink it if it’s regular milk. She has been a lot tougher to break of these habits. She does great with a sippy, but when it comes for bedtime, she wants that bottle.
What’s In My Toddler’s Diaper Bag
I have two toddlers (a two year old and one year old) and they are both still in diapers/pull-ups. I have tried to not carry a diaper bag around with me, but with two young-ins, it’s just not realistic yet. I have a hard time fitting my things – along with diapers, wipes, creams, medicines, toys, sippy cups, etc. into an oversized purse. My toddler’s diaper bag is also a backpack, so it is a lot easier to carry it around with me.
Another Little Blessing
I am so excited to finally share our news that we have tried to hide for a while now, but it is getting increasingly more difficult to keep it a secret. A couple of months ago, I started feeling really sick. I thought it was probably stress related. I had lost a few pounds and wasn’t really sure what was going on. Then it hit me. I was a week late. I took a pregnancy test audit was negative. I once again chalked it up to stress and decided to move on. Two weeks later, I threw up before church. I felt awful and immediately my mind was racing. What on earth was going on with me? I took another test the next day…positive. Another little blessing along the way! To say this news knocked Ryan and I off our feet is a bit of an understatement.
The shock of our new little angel has finally started wearing off and we are starting to get really excited. This was not our timing at all. We had planned to have more children, but wanted to wait another year or two so that we could focus on our house (moving, decorating, investing in furniture), but once again, God had another plan for us. He has bee teaching me a lot over the last couple of months. I have learned that life is constantly changing and it is easier sometimes to not always have a plan and instead go with the flow. That is what we are doing. We are trusting God and His timing. We are also going to have to invest in a larger SUV, so any suggestion, mommas?
I feel so relieved to finally share this news with you all. I hope this helps explain one of my hiatus from blogland lately. I have been really sick this time around, but have started having more good days than bad as far as that goes. Now that I am feeling better and summer has arrived in Alabama, I am looking forward to getting back after it. I am just over 15 weeks along and we are due the first week of November! I am so excited to meet our little turkey baby!
Things That Change After Your Baby Turns One
My baby girl celebrated her first birthday 2 weeks ago. I still can’t believe she is a year old. It went by all too fast. What has been really weird, though is how much she has changed over the last couple of weeks. It’s like she knew she was no longer a “baby” and should start acting older.
Things That Happen Once Your Baby Turns One:
She started talking! She has been repeating things back to me like “thank you” and “okay.” It literally happened one day and she hasn’t stopped talking!
She is walking all over the place. She still stumbles a little but while she was taking steps before her birthday, she seemed to really take off a couple of days after.
She is totally content playing by herself.
She carries her baby doll with her every where.
She is eating so much more food. Maybe it’s all the walking, but she seems to be a bottomless pit lately.
Two things that haven’t changed?
Huggies Little Snugglers and Natural Care Wipes. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, these wipes are the best. Hands down. I’ve tried several, and I will not buy another brand. We also love using Huggies Little Snugglers Diapers for our daughter. They fit her so well and the softer ouster cover and wetness indicator keeps her comfortable and me warned in plenty of time when she needs to be changed.

What changed after your baby turned one?
Sophie’s First Birthday Party and TWINS
This past weekend was one filled with lots of joy and tons of emotions for this momma! My precious baby girl turned ONE. I still can’t believe it! That first year went by so fast. Even faster than Hampton’s first. I have definitely been feeling all the emotions as she has been taking more and more steps and seems to be really growing up quickly all of a sudden. We had so much fun celebrating her first birthday with family and close friends. We also welcomed my precious baby cousins into the world and I am so thankful and happy to announce that they are healthy and absolutely perfect. Zana, my cousin and best friend is doing well and I am so proud of the mother she is to these precious babies. I honestly can’t imagine having twins because having two, 18 months apart was very difficult, and I am so amazed at how well she is doing it. She is super mom!
We Met Thomas the Train
Last year, we took Hamp to see Thomas the Train in Calera, Alabama and he loved it! Unfortunately it ended badly and we later found out he had hand foot and mouth and we really should not have had him out in the sun that day. #parentingfail This year was a million times better because we had no sick kids and with Hampton being a year older, I felt like he enjoyed it so much more!
Sophie is 11 Months
How can it be that my little bitty baby girl is 11 months old? We are ONE month away from her turning ONE! This is just insane. Time is the one thing I feel like I never have enough of and this last month has been a huge reminder of that. We have been running around working, going from one place to another and things have been really hectic. In the midst of the crazy, I took a moment to look at my baby girl. I stopped what I was doing (okay, maybe because I was sick for a week), and I really looked at her and thought, where has the time gone?
You are getting so big. You don’t like to cuddle anymore. I watched you take your first step last week. I saw you experience your first Easter. You were tackled by your big brother for the first time (of many, I’m sure). You have been sick this week and haven’t been as happy, but you are normally grinning from ear to ear and always clapping – your favorite trick. You have become really loud and are quite the little talker. You are the most beautiful baby girl I have ever seen. Your personality is perfect and I have enjoyed these 11 months with you more than you will ever know.
While I am sad to see your first year come to a close, I am excited to watch you continue to grow. Learn words. Play with your brother and make friends. I’m excited for you to walk so you can finally run outside with your brother and cousin. I’m excited to teach you how to do your first plie. I can’t wait to watch you play dress up and eat sugar for the first time at your party. I am excited to watch you turn into a beautiful lady. But first, please stay little. Don’t ever be in a hurry to grow up because I promise you, it is overrated. Play as much and as hard as you can and be my sweet baby girl forever. Be kind to everyone no matter what. Love the Lord with all of your heart and always put him first in everything. I love you, angel!

We’ve all been in sticky situations where we were out running errands and our baby has a blowout and we realize we have no extra outfit with us or worse – we are out of diapers. I’ve been there more than once. In fact, on our way home from Jacksonville a few weeks ago, Sophie had been crying and crying and I thought she was just fighting sleep because I had JUST changed her diaper. It couldn’t be that. Right? Wrong. She had a blowout and it was all over her outfit and her car seat. I had nothing with me to clean it up with so we had to make a stop at the next exit and stop at a gas station to clean it up the best we could. I felt so bad that I had ignored her screaming and played it off on something else.
A Relaxing Weekend
The kids and I have been a little under the weather this past weekend. We have all developed little colds that I am sure is from the weather being 80 degrees and then 45. We went from playing outside in shorts and tank tops one minute to freezing cold in sweatshirts the next. As most of you other mothers know, it is so tough to take care of sick kids while you are sick too. So, it’s been a fun few days. The positive side of it? We have definitely caught up on lots of snuggle time and watched cute little movies and shows with the babies. Of course, their attention span when it comes to T.V. is 10 minutes when we get lucky, but Hamp did make it through an entire episode of Paw Patrol.
