I have friends who ask me all the time how I structure the day for my kids as a SAHM and what sort of things I do with them every day. Having one toddler and one baby, I have found that having some sort of routine/schedule/structure works best for us as a family. A lot of people throw schedules out of the window and live by the whole “come what may” philosophy, but that mindset doesn’t work well for us. My kids function better when they have a routine than when they do not. In fact, most holidays end in some sort of tantrum because the kids are not on their normal routine. When they don’t get their naps at a certain time, they are miserable. So, here are a few toddler activities tat I do with my kids every day to keep some sort of structure in place.
Our Colic Story and Tips for Comforting a Fussy Baby
My son was born in October 2013. Around Christmastime, he developed colic symptoms. A.K.A crying for no obvious reason at the same time of day, every day. Every evening at 5p.m. he would start screaming. He wouldn’t stop until 2a.m. This lasted for 2 months. We were lucky in my opinion because I know others who have had to deal with it for several months longer than that. During that phase, we were grumpy due to lack of sleep and extremely frustrated. Our doctor told us he would grow out of it, and that is literally the last thing I wanted to hear. I wanted a quick fix. I wanted to know what was causing his discomfort so I could stop it. We tried a lot of things but nothing seemed to work. He even fussed as I nursed him during that period of time. It was miserable.
The good news is that we made it out alive and he was a wonderful baby after that. This experience also made our second baby seem like a breeze. So, see? There are positives! I really wish I had Gerber soothing products during that phase of our lives. They would have been very helpful in aiding my son and giving him relief.
Our Sweet Sophie at 10 Months
I literally can not believe my baby girl is 10 months old. I can’t believe am planning her party already. It is really surreal. When I think about it, I want to cry sometimes because I feel like it has al gone by way too fast. I feel like I have hardly enjoyed her as a baby. She is already crawling and pulling up everywhere. She is getting into everything, talking more and more (and very loudly), and she brings our family such joy. While I do not feel like our family is complete yet, I can say that I can’t imagine life before our little Sophie. She turned our lives upside down and has been making us laugh and smile every day since she was born.
My Little Lovebug
If you haven’t noticed by now, I have about 10,000 nicknames for my kids. Nugget, squirt, angel, Hampster (for Hamp) and Lovebug for Sophie. The list goes on and on, really. It’s getting out of control. So, when I stumbled on this little slouchy top I knew I had to grab it up or Soph. It was just too cute to pass up! She is after all, my little lovebug.

My Tiny Valentines
I have the cutest tiny Valentines in the entire world. When I look at them, I am blown away by how blessed Ryan and I truly are. They are so sweet and precious. I thought it would be so fun to dress them all up for Valentine’s Day because it is Sophie’s first. I love celebrating their firsts in a big way! I remember Hampton’s first Valentine’s Day like it was yesterday. Man, time sure does fly when you are in hog heaven!

Sophie Raegan is 9 Months Old
My sweet little princess was 9 months old yesterday. It is so hard to believe that we will be celebrating her first birthday in 3 short months. Let me tell you, these months are flying by. I wish I could bottle up every moment and every little face expression and sound she makes. She is perfect in every way and continues to make me so happy and proud. She is the sweetest little baby and so precious. She is a cuddle bug like my Hampton, and I hope she always will be.
My Formula for Happiness
The Cutest Date Ever + Smoothie King Challenge
Before I had Sophie-Rae, I didn’t think my love for her would ever be the way it was with Hampton. He was my everything. He was my best little buddy and my favorite cuddle bug. He was my little helper and favorite play date. I just couldn’t picture how this would all change and expand to a second child. After having SR, I quickly realized (the first moment I laid eyes on her) that my love grew so much in one incredible moment to fit them both into that mold. While I do tote them both around everywhere with me, Hamp continues to be my #1 play-date buddy…until his sister catches up!
Sophie-Rae is 8 Months
My baby girl is 8 months old. It is really hard to believe. To me, Hampton’s first year flew by. SR’s has been even faster. It’s funny how that works. I guess when you are a mother of 2, life gets even busier and goes by faster.
Holiday Gift Guide: Baby’s First Christmas
This is SR’s first Christmas. I learned with my son that the first year is full of exciting firsts. First tooth, first foods, first steps, first holidays. It is all so exciting and we all swoon over every little accomplishment. This year, things are very different for us because we are living at my parent’s house, but I want to make sure that we still do all of the special things with SR that we did with H so, I did what I do best and made a checklist!
-Get baby’s picture made with Santa
-Buy baby a special gift
-Buy her first Christmas ornament
-Buy baby a Christmas outfit
-Buy her some “My first Christmas” gear (We received this adorable bib c/o from Sew Cute In Carolina on Etsy)
-Pick out cute Christmas PJ’s
-Read her Twas’ the Night Before Christmas
-Bundle her up and take her to play in the snow (if you’re lucky enough to have any)
Here are a few items I love for Baby’s first Christmas:
