Something Ryan and I try to do every day is start our day with prayer and gratitude. It is amazing how different things can look when you start the day being grateful for what you have than looking at Instagram at everything you don’t have. Can I get an Amen? When you really look around you, you start to see how truly blessed you are. I think it is even more important this time of year when we are being bombarded with wish lists, kids begging for every toy they see on TV, etc. We decided we needed to do something to help instill this discipline in our children. Hence, the Thanksgiving Prayer Jar!
4 Tips to be the Best House Guest During the Holidays
For many of us, the holidays come with some travel and possibly mean staying with family or friends – or them staying with you. This Thanksgiving, my family will be traveling for the first time since I was a kid. To say I am excited is an understatement. We are thrilled to spend this Thanksgiving with my family in Florida for the first time – ever! I look forward to many memories made and laughter that we will undoubtedly have. It is important to me to be a really good house guest. No one appreciates that person who stays with them and wrecks the house or creates a huge mess and doesn’t clean up after themselves. You know who I’m talking about!
Thanksgiving Outfit for Under $75
My dress is finally available online, so I am beyond excited to finally share this Thanksgiving outfit with y’all! This dress is under $30 and my boots are under $50! This whole outfit is around $75 which is awesome! You know how much I am loving chenille – everything – this season because this fabric is just so soft! This chenille sweater dress is pure perfection. It is soft, comfortable and the color is amazing. It is like wearing a nightgown. It’s THAT comfortable. It’s also such a steal that I couldn’t pass it up. This dress has the cutest cutout detail on the back that is not so low that it shows your bra (a.k.a. mom-friendly). It is in the juniors section, so I did size up to a Medium for a looser fit. The small was really tight and I will never wear anything tight on Thanksgiving. I just won’t.
10 Bible Verses for Thanksgiving
I love this time of year. It really makes me reflect on all of our blessings and helps me refocus on what really matters in life. Family, our health, jobs, and YOU. I am so thankful for you, friends. Every year I am continually humbled by how many of you stop to read, comment or like my posts. You encourage me daily. For every troll/ ugly comment that I receive, there are 20 of you that fill me up with encouragement and good. Without you, I wouldn’t have found my passion. I wouldn’t absolutely love my job, and I probably wouldn’t be at home with my babies.
In the spirit of the season of family, friends and thankfulness, I wanted to share some of my favorite bible verses on thankfulness to hopefully encourage you today. Also, there is a little giveaway if you make it to the end! 😉
Thanksgiving 2016
Thanksgiving this year was hectic, loud, crazy, tiring and completely wonderful! Doing anything with the three kids right now is very difficult. We are still adjusting to life with three and taking them all out is not the easiest. Three kids pitching fits and crying in Target is less than thrilling. Thanksgiving was very tiring because we were going all day, but it was so fun. I love getting to see all of our family in the same day. It is so nice to catch up and let the kids run wild outside. They had a lot of fun, but we went all day without naps, so by the end of the day, we were all exhausted and ready to get home.
November POPSUGAR Must Have Box
Special thanks to POPSUGAR for sending me this Must Have Box! #MustHaveBox
I can’t believe Thanksgiving week is already here and November is almost over! This month is FLYING by for us. With our sweet new baby boy and our big move, we have been so busy and it is making the days go by too quickly. This week is no exception. With all the unpacking we have to do, family photos and family coming to town, we have so much going on that I’m hoping my head doesn’t spin off. This weekend, I received my November POPSUGAR Must Have Box and it was a much needed little happy mail that I definitely needed in the midst of our crazy. This one was probably my favorite out of all of the boxes I’ve received in the past. I LOVE every item.
Hello, Upside Down Life
This year, our Thanksgiving looked very different than most years. Due to a family situation, my brother and his kids moved into my parent’s house the same day we did – last Wednesday. It has been so chaotic, but also really fun. It has been stressful at times because there are so many people crammed into one house with all of our furniture mixed in with my parents. It is not healthy for this O.C.D. mama. Everywhere I look, there are boxes stacked. It has definitely been making me anxious, but I just keep reminding myself this is only temporary.
My mind has been all over the place. I’ve learned that once you become a mom, you become forgetful. When your 6 month old isn’t sleeping, it gets worse. Add moving in with my parents and acting as a mother of 4 this past week, it gets extremely worse. I am working diligently to get my brain back, settle in as much as possible and get organized so that we can get back into a routine. Hopefully, everything will be very manageable again soon.
Saying goodbye to our home on Saturday was a lot harder than I thought it would be. Maybe it was all the stress and emotions from the week, but I was so sad to say goodbye to our first home. We have so many wonderful memories there. We came home to that house after our honeymoon and brought both of our babies home from the hospital to that house. We had 4 amazing Christmases there and birthday celebrations. We watched Hamp’s first steps in that house and had lots of friends and family there for dinner and game nights. We will miss our home, but we are so looking forward to our next chapter. I am being very prayerful that God will place us where we need to be and that He will move in everything going on with my family. I feel His presence and know he placed us all here for a reason. We are all working together and taking care of one another. After all, that is what family does.
Have you ever dealt with a family emergency during the holidays?
Happy Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! I just wanted to pause for a minute and tell you how much I appreciate you reading my little space on the internet. It never ceases to amaze me how many of you read, comment on and share my posts. This year, I am especially thankful for all of my readers and everyone I have worked with over the last 12 months. I was looking back at spreadsheets during our move and couldn’t get over the fact that in 8 short months, this hobby of mine turned into a business and I don’t know what we would do without the supplement income from it. It has also been such a healthy outlet for me and has been very positive in my life. This blog has been such a blessing this year and I can’t wait to see the leaps and bounds it takes in the next 12 months.
I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving, eat lots of turkey and kick up your feet. Laugh with family and hug them real tight. There is nothing in the world like family. I love you all!
6 Things To Look Forward to The Week of Thanksgiving
I love the week of Thanksgiving. All of the excitement and hustle and bustle of the entire week is so thrilling. It’s also the kick off to the holiday season. It’s non-stop shopping, wrapping, eating, and celebrating from here on out to 2016! – At least, it is for my family. So what are the 6 things I’m most looking forward to this Thanksgiving week?
Black Friday Shopping – Most people don’t like to fight the crowds anymore now that you can do a lot of shopping online, but there is just something about getting up really early with my aunts, grandma and cousins and going on a mad shopping spree to get all of our Christmas presents.
Cooking and Baking – I’m not sure how much cooking I will be doing this year since we are moving, but I think my mom put me in charge of the grape salad. wah wah. Oh, well. There is always next year, right? I do so look forward to walking into my grandparent’s house and smelling her amazing cooking and baking. She is an incredible cook so Thanksgiving is always a pleasure at her house!
Lots and Lots of Eating – Who doesn’t look forward to the eating? I don’t care what kind of diet you’re on, Thanksgiving is the one day a year you should break it and enjoy the delicious food. I’m looking forward to all of the classics this year: turkey, dressing, chicken and dumplin’s (this is a staple in my family) and my Maw Maw’s lemon pie! Yum!
Smack Talking and Watching Football – It’s Rivalry week which means Iron bowl time in Alabama (War Eagle). Let’s just say that fans of opposing teams tend to stray away from each other this week and probably a week or two after. Sad, but true. We are very mature about our football games around here.
Family Photos – I love taking pictures with all of my family. We have made it a tradition to take a photo of all the girl cousins on my mom’s side of the family every year now for a long time. It’s fun to see how everyone grows and changes over time. These photos are so precious to me and I look forward to them because I am a bit of a picture hoarder.
Visiting with Family and Friends you don’t get to see very often. – I love spending time with my extended family during the holidays. They have also been a huge deal to my family and so we celebrate big. I have lots of cousins and now several little second cousins and I love seeing them. We have way too much fun together and we always go Black Friday shopping which is hilariously fun.
What are you most looking forward to this Thanksgiving week?
A Post of Thanksgiving and Football
Hello ladies! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and were as blessed as I was to share it with family and friends. Here is my Thanksgiving in pictures:
Our little family. |
Some of the girls! |
My cousins- Carrie-Grace and Lilly. |
My sweet nephew Tanner. |
God blessed us with this beautiful view of the sunset. |
As for today, it is officially “Rival Saturday.” I will be avoiding Facebook because I have been known to delete annoying (Alabama) fans so it is easier to stay away. I am a Florida fan and Ryan is a big Auburn fan, so we will be yelling “Go Gators” and “War Eagle” all day.
