4 Tips to be the Best House Guest During the Holidays

November 20, 2017

For many of us, the holidays come with some travel and possibly mean staying with family or friends – or them staying with you. This Thanksgiving, my family will be traveling for the first time since I was a kid. To say I am excited is an understatement. We are thrilled to spend this Thanksgiving with my family in Florida for the first time – ever! I look forward to many memories made and laughter that we will undoubtedly have. It is important to me to be a really good house guest. No one appreciates that person who stays with them and wrecks the house or creates a huge mess and doesn’t clean up after themselves. You know who I’m talking about!

4 Tips to be the Best House Guest During the Holidays

Here are a few tips to help you be the best house guest this holiday season:

Take a hostess gift! Everyone loves getting a little something something! Who doesn’t like gifts? It shows your host how much you appreciate them opening their home to you and all the work that goes into hosting. Giving the gift of wine is always appreciated. Even if they do not drink alcohol, many people use wine to cook with and I can’t think of a better gift for the week of Thanksgiving! Pair a beautiful bottle of red or white from Wente wine with two cute little wine tumblers and you have the perfect hostess gift!

Clean up after yourself. This one is so important! You do not want to be a messy guest. Have respect for the home that your family has welcomed you into by picking up after yourself.

Offer to help. This one is definitely important for Thanksgiving. There is so much planning and cooking involved. Not to mention entertaining the kids! Offer to take the kids outside to play, or help in the kitchen! Roll up your sleeve and lend a hand.

Be appreciative. Let them know how much you appreciate them by telling them thank you! Even send a “thank you” note once you return home to let them know, again, how much you appreciate them!

Wente Vineyards Wente Wine

Wente Vineyards is the country’s oldest continuously operating, family-owned winery. Their California wineries include wine-tasting, dining, concerts, championship golf and more! Wente knows the importance of making time for the ones you love this holiday season. Sometimes it can be so easy to get caught up in the hype of the shopping, gifts, festivities and other activities. Be sure to make time for loved ones and take a break. We all need quality time with friends and family every once in a while!
