Happy Veterans Day! I am so blessed and fortunate to have two grandfathers who served in the army and navy, one of which I am spending the day with! My Poppie is a retired navigator where he served in the Navy for over 20 years. I am constantly amazed by this man. He knows the stars like the back of his hand. He will be 83 years old this month and he still walks 9 holes of gold every week day! Talk about no room for excuses for the grandkids (ha)!

I thought these pants would be perfect to wear today because they are cool and comfortable and so stylish! I love the print and they are the perfect material for an Alabama fall day. I bought these heels on clearance at Nordstrom Rack the last time I was in Jax Beach and I still can’t get over how affordable they were. They are definitely my favorite wedge heels for the fall and winter months.

Dressing weather appropriate during the month of November can be tricky. We normally can’t put our shorts away until January. You never know if it will be cool, cold or hot from day to day. Because of this, I find that light layers work best. Normally, leggings, cardigans, tees and booties basically compile my wardrobe. Adding these fun printed pants to my collection was exciting because they will be great to dress u or down depending on the occasion and I love mixing it up a little every now and then. After all, fashion should be fun and challenging, not boring.

When I was playing around on Instagram the other day, I came across the most adorable new boutique – I Do Declare Boutique. They have only been open for about 2 months, but I am obsessed with their clothes and accessories. They have lots of southern inspired pieces which is right up my alley. Give me all the ruffles and lace! This mother and daughter duo love sweet tea and the SEC and so I feel like we would get along just fine. When I saw this top I fell in love with it, but after I put it on, I realized it is my new favorite. It is so soft and comfortable. It even has the perfect name: “Time for Cocoa.” It is seriously perfect and so versatile.

Very few things surprise me these days. So many crazy things have happened in the last 5 years of my life that I hardly flinch at things most people would be completely derailed by, however, I was surprised last week. I won’t get into everything that surprised me…yet, but let’s just say, we serve an awesome God. He is faithful to us even when we aren’t. He is always working and moving and just when I stop paying attention to that, BOOM He dang near shocks me. Big things are happening and big changes are coming our way and I am so excited about them (and no, I’m not pregnant).

How powerful is this verse? Back in September, I started BSF (Bible Study Fellowship). Many of you have probably heard of it because this bible study is worldwide. It is so neat to think that women in France or England are studying the exact same thing we are here in Alabama. It unites us, in a way. We have been studying the book of Revelation, and it has made a huge impact on me. I have read through Revelation a few times, but I have never really studied it like this before.

Through this study, it has opened my eyes to see that here on earth, nothing matters. I’ve always been the type of person who would get my feelings hurt very easily and then want nothing to do with the person who hurt me anymore. It’s a bad habit that I am constantly working to break because I know people are only human and we all make mistakes. These mistakes don’t mean anything when paired with eternity and our souls. When you think about life from this perspective, it just doesn’t matter.

What matters is if you are loving God and loving people. Speak life into people because too many times a day we are speaking hurtful and negative words to people or hearing them spoken to us and it is discouraging. It gets people down. We need to build each other up. We need to be spreading the gospel every day because in the end, the gospel, God, Christ, Eternity, that’s all that matters. 


Isn’t it encouraging that God is immeasurably MORE than we can even imagine? That’s saying a lot because in my mind, He is everything. God is bigger than that guy joking on the way your kid talks or the woman criticizing the way you dress. He holds us and cares for us, but above all even through the pain and sadness we must put him through when we behave badly, He loves us through it all, unconditionally.

Lately, I have been feeling so much pressure to be perfect. It’s easy for me to start feeling this way if I start paying more attention to my peripherals than looking to my own path and future. I’m constantly questioning myself and if I’m doing the right thing by staying home and blogging instead of working. I feel like my house has to stay perfect. Even when no one is coming, the thought that someone might stop by or want to look at our house in 20 minutes still eats away at me, so I’m constantly worried about that.

Recently, I have been loving jewelry more than normal. I can’t get enough of it. I came across these beautiful bangles from Inspired Silver and fell in love with them. They are so versatile and can be dressed up or down. They were the perfect accessory to our pumpkin day!
Last weekend when we were at the pumpkin patch, I had Ryan take these photos for me. What you don’t see pictured is SR crying because she was hot in her stroller and Hamp trying to eat the sunflowers and run off the trail. In the middle of these pictures, I just started laughing because, in these situations, what else can you do? Sometimes family is crazy and acting nuts out in public and you have to take advantage of the photo opp. It’s just life.

Once we got to the pumpkin patch, I decided I wanted to hunt for the imperfect pumpkin this year. Everyone hunts for the roundest, prettiest pumpkin, and I feel sad for the others. I found my perfectly imperfect pumpkin and gave it a home. And we both lived happily ever after…
But, seriously. Life is not perfect. We live in an age where people live by social media and what their next photo uploaded will be. It is easy to get mixed up in wanting to be perfect and feeling awful when we fall short. Be good at what you’re good at – whether that’s fashion, cooking, running, crafting, writing, taking care of people – whatever! Do what you do and don’t worry about the rest. No one is good at everything, even when they appear to be. It is easy to make yourself look like you have everything together when you get to choose the pictures you post to social media, but things are very rarely what they seem. The older I get, the more this is revealed to me.
God has been trying to teach me some very hard lessons lately. I prayed to forgive someone I have had a hard time forgiving lately and even had one of my small groups pray for this specifically. Since then, Satan has been testing me big time. This person has tested me, too. It’s been very difficult. Through these less than perfect circumstances, I find encouragement because I know that God gives trials to us that he knows we can endure. He is making me stronger and building my faith more than ever. That is the victory and the beauty in the imperfect life.

Y’all. I just woke up and my newborn is almost 6 months and my 18 month old is turning two this weekend. T W O. What in the world? Surely I blacked out for a few months? How has the time flown by that fast? Hampton’s first year flew by, but his second? It has been even faster. My baby girl is on the verge of crawling and my tiny Hamp is turning two. He is now longer my baby. He is a toddler on his way to big boy land. I wish it would all slow down. I wish the days would seem like actual full days instead of an hour or two divided by a nap. I feel like I’m being robbed of their baby years, yet, I’m right here! I’m right by their side 24/7.

The older I get, the more I realize what truly matters in life. Family matters. Our little family of four is my world. I spend most of my time with them – really all of my time with the babies, yet it still doesn’t feel like enough. H is starting to “read” aka memorize his books. He is counting to 10, he is learning his ABC’s, putting sentences together and knows most of his colors. Didn’t he just start saying “mama” and “da da?” My mind is blown by this. Don’t even get me started on SR holding her own bottle and rolling all over the place to get to where she wants to be. She has even scooted a little bit. I’m not sure if it’s on purpose or by accident, but she will definitely be crawling soon. There is no doubt about that. This girl is going places.

Last week was all about Ryan and his big 3-0 birthday. This week is all about my baby boy! We are celebrating his birthday by going to the pumpkin patch and spending some quality family time together – just the 4 of us. I am so excited. I don’t even remember the last time we did this. Spending time together outside of bedtime routines, does not happen very often. It will be a blessing for sure.

The month of October is bipolar in the state of Alabama and everyone stays sick because of it – including my family this week. We have all been coughing and dealing with “the crud.” Because the weather is so unpredictable, I love wearing light layers or tops that are very weather neutral – like this top! I love love this top because while it is thin enough to wear in 80 degree weather, it’s sleeves make it perfect for a cooler night as well! Shashi’s is an adorable boutique and I love their clothes. They also have great party decorations! Right now, all Clearance is on sale for $9.99! I am loving this top!

Most of you know that the month of October is a busy but fun month for my family. We celebrated our anniversary last week, and tomorrow we will be celebrating my husband’s 30th birthday! It’s a big one! We are so looking forward to his party this weekend with our closest friends and of course, football! Throw in a baby shower that I am decorating for (with my mom) and it is going to be a busy (but fun) week! The celebrations don’t stop there – my baby boy will be 2 next Saturday! I can’t believe it, but more on that later. This week is all about Ryan. My husband is my world! He is so hardworking and loves me and our kids to the fullest. He is so much fun and those that know him best can’t help but absolutely love him. He is so kind, generous and has such a calming spirit. He has a way to teaching me what is and isn’t important. I joke with him all the time about how he is my therapist because I can talk to him about a difficult situation and he will totally change my thinking and make me look at things more clearly while also totally de-stressing me. He is my personal therapist. Go find your own. I’m keeping mine.

Ryan is the type of person who literally does not care what anyone thinks about him or says about him. I’ve never seen someone let things roll off of them the way he does. I wish so badly that I could be like that. He has taught me so much in our 4 years of marriage and he is such a wonderful husband and father. I love watching him with our babies and how much he enjoys playing golf in the backyard with H and making SR giggle herself to tears. This man is precious beyond words and I am so blessed to be able to spend my days and years with him. He may never know how much he has done for me and our little family, but we will be impacted in the biggest way because of him.

I could write about him for days, but I guess I need to end this post sometime before I end up in tears trying to type out how I feel about my husband.

Ryan, I hope you have the happiest of birthdays! I know I tease you about being old and robbing the cradle and what not, but I am thankful for you and your oldness. Lord knows I needed a mature man to walk with me through life. I love you!

This past week, I have felt myself falling so far behind – behind on my blog, behind on sleep, behind on my reading, behind on my social life and the list goes on. I have been trying to do so many things and throw myself into so much. My husband loves to stay busy. He thrives off of having “stuff” to do. I’m just not wired that way. I don’t mind staying home all day cleaning up and playing with the kids. I don’t feel like I have to be on the go all the time. In fact, when I do stay really busy for a period of time, I start to get really stressed out and tend to check out completely.


Luckily, this time I caught myself. I have felt like my head is spinning trying to keep up with my family and our daily to-dos and running on very little sleep right now is not helping at all. I haven’t been as patient, I’ve steered clear of messy situations instead of making myself available to help and I did not even exercise at all last week. It’s just not me. So, maybe I feel like by writing this out for all to see, I will be held accountable. Maybe I’m hoping this will wake me up or my sister will call me and give me a love pat and tell me to just relax for a day or two and turn it all off.

Our 4th anniversary is tomorrow! In some ways, I feel like we have been married much longer than that. Two kids will do that to you. Other days, it feels like we just started dating. It’s amazing how fast time flies and I really can’t believe we have accomplished so much in so little time. It has taken a lot of patience and a lot of hard work, but we are finally in a place where we feel totally content. For that, I am so thankful. Our home is full of love and the good Lord knows, I have needed that lately.

Ryan has seen that I needed to slow up and take a break for a little while now. Because he is awesome, he is taking me to Birmingham this weekend to celebrate our anniversary and my in-laws are even keeping our babies for us! I am beyond excited to have a little fun and spend some alone time with my hubby!

I follow a lot of blogs. The ones that I read daily are mostly those who have been blogging since I started 3 years ago. They are my daily reads because I fell in love with them a long time ago and I feel like I’ve been right by their side since my beginning. I enjoy reading them because while they do fabulous fashion, make-up, and  how-to posts, they are also real and honest. They share their lives and their opinions. As much as I love reading a great recipe or DIY, I really enjoy reading posts that allow me to get to know the person behind the blog. I want to feel like I know them if I’m going to read their blog regularly. Blogging is about relationships. It is a growing community and can be very overwhelming when you throw yourself into it. When you find a group that you connect with, you follow them. Learn from them. Grow with them. But most importantly, you build a relationship with them.

Boots

I have gained a few new followers lately, so I thought I would share a few facts about me! I haven’t done an “about me” post in several months, and I think it’s important you get to know me if you are going to be reading my blog. After all, it is my (third) baby. 🙂

1. I am a little O.C.D. about my house. I have to clean the kitchen, fold the laundry and clean off all the surfaces in my home before bedtime. However, I am terrible about cleaning the shower. That is the one chore I hate doing and rarely do.

2. I am an introverted extrovert. Until I started my psychology classes in college, I didn’t even realize you can be both, but you can, and I am. I scored almost 50% introvert and 50% extrovert on the scale of the test I took in my psych assessments class. Which reminds me, I have a degree in psychology from Auburn (in Montgomery) and I am seriously considering going back for my masters and maybe doctorate? The only thing holding me back is that thesis. Blah. And two little ankle biters. Speaking of…

3. I have 2 kids, but I would love to have 4. I’ve always said I want to have three and adopt one. I’ve wanted to adopt for as long as I can remember, and seeing more and more people doing it now has really encouraged me to do so. It is something I pray about every day. I’m having faith that God will lead the way if we are supposed to go down that path.

4. My favorite show in the entire world is Gilmore Girls. I love the fast paced verbal and the witty/sarcastic humor. Their jokes were always smart and sometimes over my head, but I loved trying to figure out what they were referring to, and often times have to google. I think it was a genius show that should have gone on for at least 3 more seasons.

5. I love fashion and my favorite types of posts to write and put together are fashion posts, although, I sometimes feel uncomfortable taking photos, fashion is something I am passionate about and I love being able to express myself in that way. I have many different styles. I love all things classy and girly, but I also love to rock the bohemian look. I am mostly casual, but I do enjoy dressing up from time to time. Growing up I wanted to be a fashion designer. I have had a love for style for as long as I can remember. By the age of ten I even had an entire “portfolio” of my designs. And yes, I still have it!

6. I am terrified of needles. I’m still pinching myself that I made it through 2 childbirths without dying of a heart attack. All I know is, I serve a big God and He definitely carried me through and gave me an enormous strength and peace through both of my experiences.

7. I have a younger brother and a younger sister, both of which started a blog recently. We are very close and I love that they have started blogs so that I can keep up with them.

8. Ryan and I love to travel. It is something we are very passionate about and would love to do more of. We have a couple of big trips planned over the next year, one to Europe next summer and another to California. We are still working out the details, but these trips have been in the works for the last 2 years now. It’s about time we go, don’t you think?

9. I was born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama. While I love our city, i is definitely one that need a little love and TLC. We love living here because it is where we were raised and most of our family is here. It would be difficult to leave, although we have contemplated it many times.

10. I grew up dancing and through that lifestyle I grew a love and passion for fitness and exercise. I am addicted to it, but terrible when it comes to diet. I am constantly struggling to eat healthy. I don’t ever have any issues working out, but when it comes to eating a salad over pizza, I cave.

The last couple of days, we have experienced cooler weather! I have so enjoyed it and it has made running outside not only bearable but even enjoyable again. Also, Auburn and Florida won this weekend…barely. Thank goodness for that. Last weekend was so busy but fun. I participated in the local consignment sales this weekend and actually made more than I spent which is amazing. I bought the kids some great clothes for the fall and winter and spent very little money. It was really awesome.

Because the weather has been so nice, I have finally been able to wear some of my favorite new fall clothes. A few of my favorites are:

The striped top. I know this is labeled as a dress, but because of the extremely high slit in it, I would never wear it as a dress. I know you don’t want to see my panties. I bought mine a size up so that I could wear mine with leggings and it cover my butt (because I cover) and because comfort is key! #SAHM, but I could have probably stuck with my normal size because it is a loose fitting “dress.” I am so glad that the stripes trend is being carried over to fall. It is such a classy look that I’m not entirely sure it ever goes out of style, so stripes are a safe purchase in my opinion and not as much a trendy thing.

Layered jewelry. You don’t have to keep the layering to clothes. I love layering jewelry (when I remember to put it on). What are some of your fall fashion favorites?

My friends, family, husband and wallet know how much I am obsessed in love with boots. Tall boots, ankle boots, open toes, pointy toes, cowgirl boots, rain boots, I love them all. After buying 2 pair of booties this summer when I already have a closet full of them, I noticed I had a little problem. Awesome problem? Sure. But a problem nonetheless. Here are the symptoms to diagnose whether or not you are a bootaholic.

1. You have a closet full of boots but you continue to buy more.

2. It’s the middle of summer, everyone is going to the beach and you are thinking about fall so that you can wear your favorite shoes.

3. Yes, you have brown boots, but you don’t have brown boots with fringe. New boots.

4. You feel like a good pair of boots are a necessity and not a frivolous expenditure.

5. You find a pair of boots that you love and you buy them in every color.
