Well, I’ve officially joined the thirty club! I honestly was feeling a lot of dread a couple of years ago knowing that I was so close to 30 but feeling more like 18. Can anyone else relate? It’s like I woke up one day fully expecting to still be in college, but somehow ended up married with three kids. haha I honestly could not feel more blessed and as I woke up this morning, all I felt was gratitude. Grateful for my family’s health, my husband, my babies, good friends, and a wonderful extended family. Grateful for our jobs that are too fun to feel like work. Just grateful. I wanted to stop and thank you guys, too. Y’all have no idea how much you mean to me. I love this community. Interacting with y’all through DMs and emails is literally what I look forward to most every day (other than spending time with my kids, of course). I will answer some of your questions from IG at the bottom of this post, so be sure to read to the end!
Lumberjack Party at the Pumpkin Patch
Happy Monday, friends! We have had the craziest week! Ryan was out of town last week, I have STILL been sick and poor Pippa is still at the vet. She is improving, but she is very sick. My kids threw my laptop and it has not been working right (since my lack of posting over the last few days) and our house is disgusting after Pippa’s sickness. Not to worry, we have carpet cleaners coming. Until then, I am wearing shoes in my house. All the time. We also had the boys’ Lumberjack party at the pumpkin patch this weekend! THAT was my highlight and saving grace of the entire week. Spending time with friends and family and getting my mind off of all of the craziness of the week was just what the doctor ordered.

Unicorn Birthday Party
Sophie’s birthday party turned out to be so much fun. I’ll be honest, we got off to a rocky start. We woke up Saturday morning and walked outside to find that it was chilly (in the 50’s) – definitely not pool party weather – so we moved the party to our house at the very last minute. It was so fun having our family over to our new house! Some of our grandparents had not seen our home yet, so we enjoyed giving them a tour. The kids had so much fun playing outside with their cousins and it turned out to be a perfect day for bubbles – which is basically what we did most of the afternoon once her party was over.
Birthday Trip to the Zoo
We had every intention on throwing Hampton a birthday party this year, but with our move and the baby coming literally any day, we weren’t able to make it happen. I promised him that we would make it really special by taking him to lunch anywhere he wanted and to the zoo! It ended up being the perfect day to go to the zoo because it was so cool outside! The zoo was all decorated for Halloween which was another added bonus! The kids loved all of the pumpkins! Hampton was totally set on riding the rhinoceros… bless him.
Hampton is THREE
Pinch me! My baby boy is three years old today. In some ways it feels like it has been every bit of three years and in some ways it feels like I had him yesterday. Looking back at photos of him seems like it all just happened, and yet, here we are. Motherhood is funny like that, I guess.
Twenty Eight + PinkBlush Giveaway
It’s official! As of Monday, I said goodbye to my twenty-seventh year and hello to twenty-eight! If you know me, or have read my blog for a while, you know how big of a number person I am. I was born on 8-8-88, was 18in. long and weighed 5lbs. and 8 oz. (which is 88 ounces). I bet you can’t guess my lucky number! So, I’m obviously really excited to be 28! I’m not a huge fan of odd numbers and my 27th year was a little crazy. This next year, we will be welcoming a new baby boy and moving into our new home where we will share so many new memories with our growing family. I am beyond excited to see what all this year will bring. We have already been so blessed and I can’t imagine what’s in store for our future! Today, I wanted to celebrate by sharing one of my favorite maternity (and non-maternity) shops – PinkBlush! They have been a favorite of mine since my first pregnancy and continue to wow me with their maternity options. If you read to the end, there might even be a PinkBlush giveaway or something! 😉

Pink Lemonade Birthday Party
This past weekend was my baby girl’s first birthday and we celebrated by throwing her a pink lemonade party! It was so much fun and turned out really cute! Read more about her birthday here.
Banner: c/o Liquid Stars
We kept her party very simple with fun added details like this banner from Liquid Stars on Etsy! It looked perfect paired with her name banner that we painted on a simple burlap garland that we found at a craft store. I bought most of her decor from Hobby Lobby last year when it was on sale, so that saved us a lot of money on decor.
As far as food, we kept things really simple. We serve chips and salsa and cupcakes. I cut pink straws in half to stick in the cupcakes and cut up lemon slices to garnish them with. These details made the plain pink cupcakes look really adorable and perfect for our pink lemonade theme.
Cake Garland: c/o A Fete Beckons
I used Pinkalicious and the Pink Drink as her sign in book because it was all about pink lemonade and she already owns another Pinkalicious book that she loves. We bought her a baby doll for her birthday and it was the perfect gift for her because she has toted it around all week. It is kind of adorable.
All in all I think the party turned out great! It was very simple and we invited a smaller crowd this year which was nice. The older I get the more I like simple. Even thought everything was easy and stress free, it was still a lot of fun, but I think the company had a little something to do with that! 😉
How to Throw an Awesome Birthday Party on a Budget
Last weekend, we celebrated Ryan’s big 30th birthday! A birthday party was a given because this was a big one. Ryan didn’t want a huge production, he just wanted a few of our closest friends to come over to cookout and watch football. Priorities. We are on a tight budget right now because we are saving money for a new house and trying to pay off our cars. I needed to plan a fun party that everyone would enjoy while also being budget friendly. Here’s how I did it:
What to Think About When Planning Your Party:
Choose a theme – for Ryan’s party, I mixed fall decor with 30th birthday decor. A lot of the decor I found in stores was girly, so I didn’t implement much. Our house was already decorated for fall, so this themed saved us a ton of money and time. I purchased balloons, a cheap banner and confetti and it turned out cute!
Focus on the Guests – You ultimately want to make your guests happy and ensure they have a good time. Invite people who are fun and don’t bring down the mood and make sure to keep the night moving along smoothly. For example, if there is a lull, it may be time to serve food, sing “Happy Birthday,” etc.
Plan Activities for the Kids – If you are panning on having kids over, you definitely need to have some activity for them so they won’t get bored and can be entertained while the parents visit. For us, this was easy. Our house is already set up for kids and the weather was so nice outside, so we let them slide, play golf, play with chalk, bubbles, etc.
Party Budget Tips:
Save Money on Invites – This day in time, there is no reason so waste tons of money on invitations. If this is a laid back party, invite them via email or Facebook! I do not recommend this method for weddings, obviously, but when you are just getting a few friends together, there is no reason to spend all that money on an invitation that will end up in the trash in a couple of days.
DIY Decor – I have a lot of fall decor throughout the house that I made myself to save money, however, I didn’t have time to get too crafty with 30th birthday decor this past week. Instead, I went to Party City and found a very affordable banner, confetti and balloons that I spent less that $50 on. If you have time to make decor yourself, you can probably make it for a little bit cheaper.
Shop at Dollar Tree for Napkins, Plates, Forks, etc.
Make Your Own Cake – I normally make our cakes, but I did not make Ryan’s this year. I wanted it to look good, so I ordered a cake from Publix and it was delicious and so cute! He is a 30-year-old man, so he didn’t want anything too cutesy, but I thought they did a great job incorporating fall and birthday! Best of all? It was only $23! Not bad at all!
Cook the Food Yourself and Scratch the Caterer – Again, there is no need to hire a caterer or purchase prepared food for a party! It can be very expensive. We kept it very simple and grilled hamburgers and hotdogs with chips and salsa. It was a hit with the parents and the kids loved it, too!
Use the Ibotta app to earn money back on the groceries you buy. This is something Ryan and I have been doing for about a month now and it has saved us about $10 so far. We haven’t used it every time we have shopped, but it will definitely add up over a year’s time. Don’t forget to also use coupons! Doing both of these together will save you a lot on groceries.
After it was all said and done, we threw a fun little party for around 20 people for under $125! Not bad at all!
Do you have any party planning or saving tips?

The month of October is bipolar in the state of Alabama and everyone stays sick because of it – including my family this week. We have all been coughing and dealing with “the crud.” Because the weather is so unpredictable, I love wearing light layers or tops that are very weather neutral – like this top! I love love this top because while it is thin enough to wear in 80 degree weather, it’s sleeves make it perfect for a cooler night as well! Shashi’s is an adorable boutique and I love their clothes. They also have great party decorations! Right now, all Clearance is on sale for $9.99! I am loving this top!
Most of you know that the month of October is a busy but fun month for my family. We celebrated our anniversary last week, and tomorrow we will be celebrating my husband’s 30th birthday! It’s a big one! We are so looking forward to his party this weekend with our closest friends and of course, football! Throw in a baby shower that I am decorating for (with my mom) and it is going to be a busy (but fun) week! The celebrations don’t stop there – my baby boy will be 2 next Saturday! I can’t believe it, but more on that later. This week is all about Ryan. My husband is my world! He is so hardworking and loves me and our kids to the fullest. He is so much fun and those that know him best can’t help but absolutely love him. He is so kind, generous and has such a calming spirit. He has a way to teaching me what is and isn’t important. I joke with him all the time about how he is my therapist because I can talk to him about a difficult situation and he will totally change my thinking and make me look at things more clearly while also totally de-stressing me. He is my personal therapist. Go find your own. I’m keeping mine.
Ryan is the type of person who literally does not care what anyone thinks about him or says about him. I’ve never seen someone let things roll off of them the way he does. I wish so badly that I could be like that. He has taught me so much in our 4 years of marriage and he is such a wonderful husband and father. I love watching him with our babies and how much he enjoys playing golf in the backyard with H and making SR giggle herself to tears. This man is precious beyond words and I am so blessed to be able to spend my days and years with him. He may never know how much he has done for me and our little family, but we will be impacted in the biggest way because of him.
I could write about him for days, but I guess I need to end this post sometime before I end up in tears trying to type out how I feel about my husband.
Ryan, I hope you have the happiest of birthdays! I know I tease you about being old and robbing the cradle and what not, but I am thankful for you and your oldness. Lord knows I needed a mature man to walk with me through life. I love you!

Birthday In Lilly
I can’t believe tomorrow is my birthday! I will be a whopping 27 years old! I’m super excited to be spending my birthday weekend in one of my favorite cities – Jax Beach – and with my family who I don’t get to see very often. My husband spoiled me with some goodies from the Nordstrom Sale, but he REALLY surprised me with this Lily Pulitzer romper! I love LP but it is so expensive. I couldn’t believe he bought it for me even after I thought he was finished with my gift… or technically gifts. He is way too good to me. I am wearing this little number on my birthday tomorrow for sure! What better place to wear it than Florida?
And now, we will be cruising away and vacationing for an entire week! I couldn’t be more excited and this could not be a better time. I just wish my little man were feeling up to it a little more. We will still have a good time and spoil him with a lot of quality one-on-one time. He definitely needs it right now.
I’m off to celebrate my birthday weekend, so peace out for now! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
