patriotic
Tank: Jadelynn Brooke // Shorts: c/o Gone Greek // Shoes: Converse

We are a very patriotic family. My husband works in politics (womp womp I know) and honestly I never really understood what all goes into making this country run and how stressful it can be. How many people are involved in making these decisions and how much passion these people have for our country. Sure, no one, and I mean no one agrees on politics. Every one has their own opinion because no two people think alike. But that is what makes our country great! Sometimes, politicians can get a bad reputation. When I tell people my husband works in politics, they always have a smart comment to make or simply look down and nod. I get it, because I used to be the same way.

red-white-and-blue

Oh, how my views have changed. Not only do I support my husband in his work, I love meeting others who have such a strong passion for our country and who are willing to step out to try to make a difference and try to make the United States run smoothly and continue to be – united. That isn’t an easy job, especially when you are constantly in the spotlight.

When special holidays roll around where we celebrate our country, we like to go all out. We decorate our house in red, while and blue, my mom always throws a July 4th party, and we of course dress the part. Honestly, I wish we dressed patriotically year round. Not just 2 or 3 weekends out of the year.

I have a great respect for all of the people who protect our country, pass laws that keep us safe and all of the volunteers who help out in any way they can just because they love their country.

How do you celebrate the 4th of July?

ootd

I don’t know about where y’all live, but it has been HOT and humid here is Alabama town! Whew. It’s that time of year where you step one toe outside and start sweating. Showers become nothing more than a pointless habit because you immediately start sweating again right after you hop in your car to go any where. Maybe I’m exaggerating slightly here. About the showers, not the sweating. That part is unfortunately true.

Trying to run in this weather is just miserable. I picked a really bad time to start running again. haha Oh, well!

maxi

One of my favorite things about summer is the fact that it is socially acceptable to wear lots of color. I love color. This yellow dress is probably my favorite maxi. It is so comfortable and easy to dress up or down. Yellow is a great color this time of year It’s just so happy. You can’t not smile when you see bright yellow! This dress is great for those hot summer weddings, a night on the town or even church on Sunday morning. It is so light and diverse.

I loved pairing this maxi with my tassel necklace from Lemon Sweet Jewelry and my Guess wedges. It was a really comfortable outfit but I still felt semi-dressy!

I’m so excited to partner with Oakleigh Rose to bring you this amazing giveaway to win a $50 store credit!

Leopard headbands: c/o Urban Style Kids here

I am so excited to do my first mommy and me styled post in a new series I’ll be doing over the next few weeks. I love to match SR in subtle ways. Don’t get me wrong, I do not like to dress like a baby, but I love finding little details that tie in our outfits.

I’ve always enjoyed color coordinating with Hampton, but I can take it a step further now that I have a little girl.

I am a huge fan of leopard print. I have been for many many years. I absolutely love it and it never goes out of style! I loved these adorable headbands that I found on Etsy at Urban Style Kids. I could’t help but snatch them up! USK has the cutest headbands and they are so comfortable.

I am also still loving the Chambray look that was really popular last year. I am so glad it is still in! I bought both of our chambray rompers at Old Navy and I am a huge fan of both of them! They are easy and you can style them so many ways. The possibilities are endless!

Confession: These pictures were taken 3 weeks ago and I’m just now posting this. Whoops. I am a little behind. 😉

My main job is a Stay at Home Mom. Sure, I work part time and blog pretty much full time, but to me, my most important job of all is being a mother and being present for my babies. I am so blessed to be able to stay home with them, but with that comes limited time for yourself and therefore endless top knots and sweatpants. Mamas, you know what I’m talking about.

Most days it is difficult to find time to brush my hair and teeth, let alone get dressed for the day. I have not felt great about myself since having SR. Obviously my body is all out of shape and I still have 14 lbs. to lose before I hit my pre-pregnancy weight, but I feel so much better on the days that I make myself get dressed. Even if that means I have an unhappy toddler for 5 minutes and a screaming baby that I have to lay down to get said clothes on. It makes me feel a million times better.

This adorable tunic dress is so perfect for me because it slips right on and I’m ready to go. Quick and easy! I love the embroidery trend and I love that detail along with the lace on this dress. It is easy, breezy and perfect for summer!

Posh Boutique is an adorable online boutique that sells luxury clothing, jewelry , and even home decor for a great price. I love the quality of their items that they guarantee, but also the fact that they have great sales periodically where you can grab your favorite items for market price!

swimming

My name is Logan and I have a mom bod. There, I said it. I had a baby 4 weeks ago, right at the beginning of “swimsuit season.” Therefore, I will be rocking a postpartum body this summer. Honestly, that’s okay with me because I am pretty proud of what my body just did. It made my beautiful daughter and only a year and a half ago, it made my handsome prince. While I’m not very comfortable in a swimsuit, I have already decided that I will buy a couple of swimsuits that cover up rather than trying to wear a bikini. Let’s be real, that just isn’t going to happen this season.

I’ve spent some time perusing the internet and Instagram for the most stylish swimsuits that will cover me but not make me feel like a grandma. So, here are my favorites:

(from left to right)
Seafarer Lilly Pulitzer
Floral Ralph Lauren

Ruffle Kenneth Cole
Gold and Blue Stripes: Kortni Jeane
Tide Pool by Albion Fit
Floral and Red: Kortni Jeane

Strawberry Daquari by Albion Fit

Cheers to covering up!

This weekend was one for the books! My grandparents drove up from Florida to meet SR for the first time, and let me just tell you, it was love at first sight. My grandmother would not put her down. It was pretty precious!

My sister also surprised us by coming home for the weekend and I was so excited to see her! We always have so much fun together.

birks

I saw these adorable Pom pom shorts on Samantha’s blog and fell in love with them. So, obviously, I ordered me some. They are kind of perfect. I have always loved bright colors. I am really excited that neon is so popular this year. I feel like my wardrobe is actually in style! Give me all the neon.

pineapple

This adorable pineapple necklace and druzy bangle are from Lemon Sweet Jewelry on Etsy! I am so in love with this shop and their jewelry! I am also loving this bee necklace and this gold feather necklace. Seriously some of the cutest jewelry I’ve seen in a while.

Something else amazing happened this weekend! Ryan and I were strolling through Target shopping for a birthday present when I saw stuffed in the back of a shelf a pair of Lilly Pulitzer pineapple sandals IN MY SIZE. Probably the last LP item left in our entire store. It was fate. I was so excited and of course bought them. I have been on cloud 9 ever since!

What did you do this weekend?

This weekend was so much fun! Not only did we get a 3 day weekend, but we also got to go on a much needed first date (since having SR), BBQ’d with friends on Sunday and then laid by the pool and grilled steaks on Monday with family! It was so relaxing and much needed.

I’m not going to lie, I have been counting down the days until summer. Summer to me means family time, vacations, pool days, beach weekends and fun with friends. We are already planning to go to the beach for the first time as a family since having kids, and I am really excited to do that! We also have a cruise planned for the end of the summer with my entire extended family, and I am beyond excited for that. My family is very close and I can’t wait to get with all of my cousins and cruise to the Bahamas!

boho-style

Don’t you love finding great new dresses and stylish boutiques? I came across this adorable shop – Molly and Me Company – one day while perusing Instagram (of course) and fell in love with their stylish dresses. This boho dress is so adorable, comfortable and perfect for the Summer months. Because of it’s boho style, it’s also great for festivals.

Although we don’t currently have plans to attend any music festivals, I would love to go to a couple this summer. We loved going to Slicefest last year, and are hoping to attend a couple of new ones in our area.

Memorial Day Outfit Inspiration

I love dressing patriotic. I’m proud of our country and very proud to be an american. I have always loved red. Why? Because growing up, my dance company and competition team wore red and black. I learned at a young age that red is the most intimidating color. We wore red costumes most of the time because my dance teacher was awesome. haha It is a very strong and bold color, so it’s fitting that it’s in our American Flag.

What I love more than dressing patriotic is dressing my kids up in red, white and blue! They make the cutest patriotic outfits for kids! I have loved going out and seeing all of our flag colors in all of our favorite shops. Here are some of my Memorial Day outfit picks for the whole family:

Pregnancy Style Tips

During my pregnancy with Hampton, I bought a few things I wish I hadn’t wasted money on. Although during your pregnancy, time seems to stand still and you feel like you’re pregnant forever, you are really only pregnant for 9 (or 10?) months. Only about 6 of those months will you actually need maternity clothes. Here is a list of maternity items that are a must have in my book and a few that were a waste of money:

What to splurge on:

Maternity jeans from The Loft. They have an amazing fit and I wore them throughout my entire pregnancy. They are really great quality and I even scored mine while they were on sale! Definitely watch for those sales. Jeans are a staple piece in my wardrobe. I wear them all the time, so I could not due without them.

Maternity leggings. I bought mine at Motherhood and love them! You can get away with wearing your regular leggings for most of your pregnancy, but I loved having the tummy panel in the maternity leggings so that they didn’t leave that awkward ripple across your stomach. Leggings are a pregnant woman’s BFF. Trust me.

GapFit Maternity capris were my go-to for workouts. Again, I could wear my normal workout clothes for most of the pregnancy, but towards the end, it was nice to have a pair that had a tummy panel. They were so much more supportive and comfortable.

Pink Blush Maternity: pretty much everything on this site. Their clothes are great because you can wear most of them even post-pregnancy, and I have been very thankful for that. They are also my go-to for special occasion pieces because they are so affordable compared to other maternity stores. My Easter dress was from there along with this tunic I wore on Valentine’s day.

What to save your money on:

Old Navy, while I absolutely love them for my non-pregnant body and for my kids, their maternity clothes never seemed to fit me right. I was pretty disappointed in their pants, especially. Maybe they fit other body types, but definitely did not work for me at all.

Maternity shirts. Save your money on these. I bought one when I was pregnant with Hampton and I do still wear it occasionally, but it is ribbed on the sides and therefore I will not be able to wear it post-pregnancy. I learned that the best way to save money is to buy a size up or wear tunic style tops. These are loose and flowy so they are perfect throughout your pregnancy as well as postpartum. This way, you don’t waste money on ribbed tops AND postpartum shirts.

My favorite postpartum piece so far:

My Jessica Simpson compression tank (similar here). It is breast-feeding friendly and holds your stomach in which is so nice right after baby. I wish I had bought another one. It is so comfortable and I have absolutely loved wearing it postpartum.

hello
Shirt: c/o Hello Apparel / Head Wrap: Bloom by Haley Anne / Sunglasses: c/o Sunglasses Shop

Hello Monday!
Hello New Week!
Hello Fresh Start!
This weekend was one for the books! Between wedding showers, birthday celebrations, taking the kids to church for the first time by myself (Ryan was out of town) and only being 5 minutes late (a miracle!), and spending quality time with my kiddos in my new favorite tee. It doesn’t get sweeter than that!
I fell in love with this shirt from Hello Apparel and desperately wanted needed it. I am a little obsessed with floral prints and the pastel floral “hello” is just too much cuteness for me to handle! I also thought this head wrap from Bloom by Haley Anne paired perfectly with it! Give me all the floral! And coffee… but we will save that for another time.
How was your weekend? Did you do anything fun?
