5 Ways To Make The Most Out Of Your Summer

June 26, 2015

summer
The summer is “officially” here as of Sunday, although it has felt like summer here for months. The summer is always a season I look forward to. Vacations, tans, the beach and my favorite treats are always things that I look forward to. Here is a list of 5 ways to make the most out of your summer:

1. Plan a Trip – Whether you’re going to the beach with your family or road trippin’ with the girls, it is a must to go on at least one vacation.

2. Make a Summer Playlist – Whether you’re driving to the beach, or laying by the pool, you’re going to need that summer playlist full of your favorite tunes. Personally, mine will be full of Jimmy Buffet.

3. Go On A Picnic – I love to be outside doing… anything that gets me outside. I am definitely a sunshine girl. Whether I’m jogging in the morning or swimming with the kids, I love to be outdoors! Picnics are always so much fun. I have already been on a few with my little family and they are always enjoyable! Take it to the park, your backyard or even the splash pad! Don’t forget your favorite treats!

4. Read a New Book (or 10) – While you’re at it, check out my 12 Books to Read This Summer!

5. Eat Your Favorite Cool, Delicious Treats. That is an order! Summer is the BEST time to eat ice cream, s’mores, fruit or your favorite cold yogurt! That reminds me, have you tried the latest from Yoplait? Yoplait Plenti is officially my new favorite yogurt! It is so delicious and satisfying and comes in 8 flavors! You can find it at any of your local Kroger stores! Even my toddler loves it! It is a great source of calcium and is a healthy alternative to other summertime snacks. Definitely check it out!

4 Things To Do On The 4th of July

Hang out by the pool, beach, river or lake

Wear Red, White, and Blue

patriotic

We are a very patriotic family. My husband works in politics (womp womp I know) and honestly I never really understood what all goes into making this country run and how stressful it can be. How many people are involved in making these decisions and how much passion these people have for our country. Sure, no one, and I mean no one agrees on politics. Every one has their own opinion because no two people think alike. But that is what makes our country great! Sometimes, politicians can get a bad reputation. When I tell people my husband works in politics, they always have a smart comment to make or simply look down and nod. I get it, because I used to be the same way.

red-white-and-blue

Oh, how my views have changed. Not only do I support my husband in his work, I love meeting others who have such a strong passion for our country and who are willing to step out to try to make a difference and try to make the United States run smoothly and continue to be – united. That isn’t an easy job, especially when you are constantly in the spotlight.

usa

When special holidays roll around where we celebrate our country, we like to go all out. We decorate our house in red, while and blue, my mom always throws a July 4th party, and we of course dress the part. Honestly, I wish we dressed patriotically year round. Not just 2 or 3 weekends out of the year.

flag

I have a great respect for all of the people who protect our country, pass laws that keep us safe and all of the volunteers who help out in any way they can just because they love their country.

How do you celebrate the 4th of July?

Boho Embroidered Tunic

June 10, 2015

My main job is a Stay at Home Mom. Sure, I work part time and blog pretty much full time, but to me, my most important job of all is being a mother and being present for my babies. I am so blessed to be able to stay home with them, but with that comes limited time for yourself and therefore endless top knots and sweatpants. Mamas, you know what I’m talking about.

tunic

Most days it is difficult to find time to brush my hair and teeth, let alone get dressed for the day. I have not felt great about myself since having SR. Obviously my body is all out of shape and I still have 14 lbs. to lose before I hit my pre-pregnancy weight, but I feel so much better on the days that I make myself get dressed. Even if that means I have an unhappy toddler for 5 minutes and a screaming baby that I have to lay down to get said clothes on. It makes me feel a million times better.

stylish

This adorable tunic dress is so perfect for me because it slips right on and I’m ready to go. Quick and easy! I love the embroidery trend and I love that detail along with the lace on this dress. It is easy, breezy and perfect for summer!

Posh Boutique is an adorable online boutique that sells luxury clothing, jewelry , and even home decor for a great price. I love the quality of their items that they guarantee, but also the fact that they have great sales periodically where you can grab your favorite items for market price!

Be sure to check out Posh Boutique on Instagram!

Stylish Swimsuits that Cover

June 9, 2015

swimming

My name is Logan and I have a mom bod. There, I said it. I had a baby 4 weeks ago, right at the beginning of “swimsuit season.” Therefore, I will be rocking a postpartum body this summer. Honestly, that’s okay with me because I am pretty proud of what my body just did. It made my beautiful daughter and only a year and a half ago, it made my handsome prince. While I’m not very comfortable in a swimsuit, I have already decided that I will buy a couple of swimsuits that cover up rather than trying to wear a bikini. Let’s be real, that just isn’t going to happen this season.

I’ve spent some time perusing the internet and Instagram for the most stylish swimsuits that will cover me but not make me feel like a grandma. So, here are my favorites:

(from left to right)
Seafarer Lilly Pulitzer
Floral Ralph Lauren

Ruffle Kenneth Cole
Gold and Blue Stripes: Kortni Jeane
Tide Pool by Albion Fit
Floral and Red: Kortni Jeane

Strawberry Daquari by Albion Fit

Cheers to covering up!

Poms and Pineapples

bangle

This weekend was one for the books! My grandparents drove up from Florida to meet SR for the first time, and let me just tell you, it was love at first sight. My grandmother would not put her down. It was pretty precious!

My sister also surprised us by coming home for the weekend and I was so excited to see her! We always have so much fun together.

birks

I saw these adorable Pom pom shorts on Samantha’s blog and fell in love with them. So, obviously, I ordered me some. They are kind of perfect. I have always loved bright colors. I am really excited that neon is so popular this year. I feel like my wardrobe is actually in style! Give me all the neon.

pineapple

This adorable pineapple necklace and druzy bangle are from Lemon Sweet Jewelry on Etsy! I am so in love with this shop and their jewelry! I am also loving this bee necklace and this gold feather necklace. Seriously some of the cutest jewelry I’ve seen in a while.

Something else amazing happened this weekend! Ryan and I were strolling through Target shopping for a birthday present when I saw stuffed in the back of a shelf a pair of Lilly Pulitzer pineapple sandals IN MY SIZE. Probably the last LP item left in our entire store. It was fate. I was so excited and of course bought them. I have been on cloud 9 ever since!

What did you do this weekend?

Boho Chic

boho-chic

This weekend was so much fun! Not only did we get a 3 day weekend, but we also got to go on a much needed first date (since having SR), BBQ’d with friends on Sunday and then laid by the pool and grilled steaks on Monday with family! It was so relaxing and much needed.

I’m not going to lie, I have been counting down the days until summer. Summer to me means family time, vacations, pool days, beach weekends and fun with friends. We are already planning to go to the beach for the first time as a family since having kids, and I am really excited to do that! We also have a cruise planned for the end of the summer with my entire extended family, and I am beyond excited for that. My family is very close and I can’t wait to get with all of my cousins and cruise to the Bahamas!

boho-style

Don’t you love finding great new dresses and stylish boutiques? I came across this adorable shop – Molly and Me Company – one day while perusing Instagram (of course) and fell in love with their stylish dresses. This boho dress is so adorable, comfortable and perfect for the Summer months. Because of it’s boho style, it’s also great for festivals.

Although we don’t currently have plans to attend any music festivals, I would love to go to a couple this summer. We loved going to Slicefest last year, and are hoping to attend a couple of new ones in our area.

Visit Molly and Me Company on Facebook and Instagram!

Do you have any fun Summer vacations planned this year?

Convenience

I have very sensitive teeth and have always had to use sensitive toothpastes to find some relief. The tiniest bite of ice cream can send me in a fit. I decided to venture out and try the Colgate sensitivity toothbrush and pen to see if it helps. I have a huge sweet tooth and my pregnancy cravings aren’t helping my addiction love for sweets.

Colgate

Thanks to my experience with this product, I have been able to actually enjoy my cold treats lately. In fact, I made my favorite popsicle recipe the other day while Hampton had a double ear infection. He was pretty miserable and I wanted to make him a special treat. Luckily, this popsicle is not too bad for you, so I felt okay about giving him a few tastes. I’m excited to share this very simple popsicle recipe with you!

Strawberry Lemonade Popsicles Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups of Lemonade (you can choose to make yours homemade, or store-bought).
  • 1 case of Strawberries
  • 1/4 cup of sugar
Directions:

Blend all of the ingredients really well and pour into popsicle molds. Freeze overnight. Tomorrow, enjoy your sweet treat!

Recipe makes 6 popsicles.

Relief

You should definitely try these. They just taste like summertime to me. Thanks to Colgate’s Sensitive Toothbrush and Pen, I can still enjoy my favorite summer treat, pain-free. This pregnant woman is very happy about that!

Sensitivity

The Colgate Sensitivity Pen is so easy to use. The Actis Enamel Pen blocks sensitivity at the source of pain. Simply: Brush, Apply, Go. That easy! If you continually use the Colgate sensitive toothbrush, over time, the formula builds a barrier so that your teeth are less sensitive. If you have struggled with sensitivity, you know how awesome this is!

long-lasting

Check your local Kroger (and Kroger banner) stores for a coupon for the new Colgate Sensitive Toothbrush and Sensitivity Pen.

Labor Day 2014

September 5, 2014

labor_day_2014

Hello! Did you know today is “Be Late For Something Day?” Finally a holiday I can get into! haha I am rarely on time for anything these days which is funny because being late used to be a huge pet peeve of mine. It’s funny how having a baby changes things.

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday weekend! Our Labor Day Weekend was filled with food and family. We traveled to Jacksonville, Florida where my grandparents live and we stayed for almost a week. We enjoyed the beach a couple of days, caught a few of the labor day sales and ate tons of food. I seriously feel like I’ve gained 10 pounds. Not really, but we ate a lot.

No pants and flip flops – a true beach bum! 😉

We watched lots of football and I am excited to say that I am winning my fantasy league after the first week. And no, Ryan did not help me at all. I just have a gut feeling about these things. Or I choose based on team colors…either way. 😉

I loved taking Hampton to the beach one last time this year. He loves the sand and he is warming up to the waves. It had so much fun and was in the best little mood. It made for a really great week.

What did you do over the holiday weekend?

Summer Beauty Essentials

July 30, 2014

Beauty Essentials
One of my favorite summer beauty tips that I learned this summer was from our ALWB blogger of the month for July! Baby Skin. It minimizes the look of your pores and makes your make-up look flawless. Beach trips + many pool days mean lots of sunscreen and moisturizers. Here are a few of the beauty essentials I’ve been using quite a bit this summer.

Garnier Fructis Haircare Hydra Recharge // Volume Express Mascara // Baby Skin // Hawaiian Tropic After Sun // I’m Addicted by Essie // Emi-jays // Baby Lips // EOS Lip Balm // Make-up remover wipes // Sunscreen // L.A. Looks // Vices Versa by Essie
I’ve used L.A Looks for years because it is super cheap and works really well. I have naturally wavy hair and it is fun to let it go and do it’s thing more during the summertime.
These are definitely some of the best summer beauty products that I’ve come across. You can find most or all of these products at Walgreens, or any beauty stores like Ulta.
