Pink Lemonade Birthday Party

May 5, 2016

This past weekend was my baby girl’s first birthday and we celebrated by throwing her a pink lemonade party! It was so much fun and turned out really cute! Read more about her birthday here.

Pink Lemonade Banner

Banner: c/o Liquid Stars

We kept her party very simple with fun added details like this banner from Liquid Stars on Etsy! It looked perfect paired with her name banner that we painted on a simple burlap garland that we found at a craft store. I bought most of her decor from Hobby Lobby last year when it was on sale, so that saved us a lot of money on decor.

Pink Lemonade Cupcakes

As far as food, we kept things really simple. We serve chips and salsa and cupcakes. I cut pink straws in half to stick in the cupcakes and cut up lemon slices to garnish them with. These details made the plain pink cupcakes look really adorable and perfect for our pink lemonade theme.

Sign In Book

I used Pinkalicious and the Pink Drink as her sign in book because it was all about pink lemonade and she already owns another Pinkalicious book that she loves. We bought her a baby doll for her birthday and it was the perfect gift for her because she has toted it around all week. It is kind of adorable.

All in all I think the party turned out great! It was very simple and we invited a smaller crowd this year which was nice. The older I get the more I like simple. Even thought everything was easy and stress free, it was still a lot of fun, but I think the company had a little something to do with that! πŸ˜‰

Mad for Plaid Christmas Party

December 21, 2015

This weekend was filled with so many fun-filled Christmas memories. Saturday we decorated and threw our big annual Christmas party for our big (and still growing) family. It was so much fun seeing everyone and getting all of the cousins together. This year’s theme was “Mad for Plaid”and we all wore some form of plaid! We ate great food, watched football and enjoyed some much-needed family time.

Sunday we went to church and heard a wonderful Christmas message that really encouraged and inspired us. I saw my best friend who is having her baby tomorrow and go all caught up with her and we had so much fun talking baby!

Tonight we finally find out the gender of my cousin’s twins and we are so thrilled we can’t hardly stand it! My guess is that she is having one boy and one girl, but we will find out soon! This year, we have so much to be thankful for. It is always an encouragement to me when I see families who are struggling and are still so positive or friends who are very ill remaining faithful and content in their time of need or trials. It makes me realize that we are so blessed and have every reason to be praising God in this season. I hope that no matter what you are going through, or if your life is actually going very well right now, to remember the reason we celebrate Christmas, spread the good and bless someone this holiday season. Even if it is just with a little smile. You have no idea what a smile can do to brighten a person’s day. πŸ™‚

Mexican Layered Dip Recipe Featuring Old El Paso

January 31, 2015

Thank you to Old El Paso for sponsoring today’s post!
Mexican-Layered-Dip

Tomorrow night we are hosting a super bowl party for our life group friends at church. We are so excited to watch the game, but I’m most looking forward to the commercials. For the party I made my mom’s Mexican Layered Dip using avocados from Mexico. I’m a big fan of guacamole. It contains healthy fat and is a great meal or snack. Because I’ve been craving Mexican food for the last couple of weeks now, I knew I wanted to make this dip for my friends…and myself. πŸ˜‰

Super-Bowl_Party-Ideas

Ingredients:
1 can Refried Beans
1 can of light sour cream
1 taco seasoning
1 can of rotel (drained)
Avocado from Mexico (mashed)
Shredded Cheese (I used light cheddar)

Directions:
In a 9×11 baker, spread the beans, then mix the sour cream and taco seasoning together until blended and spread it on top of the beans. Next, mash your avocado and spread it over the sour cream, drain the rotel and spread it over the avocado layer. Sprinkle on as much cheese as your heart desires and then bake until it is warm and the cheese is melted.

You can eat this with chips, on a taco with meat, however you want! I am serving it as a dip with Tortilla Chips and it is delicious!
Giveaway time! Go visit Old El Paso and tell me what recipe you would make or what your secret ingredient is to making the perfect taco! I will announce the winner of $15 paypal cash on February 13th!
I bought all of my ingredients at Publix where they have the best savings. Check out this week’s savings at Publix here.

Are you attending or throwing a Super Bowl Party? Do you enjoy the game, commercials or halftime show more?

Christmas Party Shenanigans

December 19, 2013

Sunday night, we invited our small group from church for a Christmas party where we ate awesome food (a mousse cake from heaven), played dirty Santa, and enjoyed great company. This year we had a lot to be thankful for including three new babies, and a new marriage. It has been a big year for our group members. We are blessed.

Quarter of a Century

August 28, 2013

I’m not really sure why, but the strangest thing happened the other day. Everyone kept telling me I was “a quarter of a century.” I’m not really sure what they are talking about because I’m only eighteen and fresh out of high school, right? Where on earth did the time go? Why do I feel eighteen but look twenty-five? Holy cow!

My family and friends spoiled me with a dinner to Tomatinos, cookie cake, and beautiful gifts. I told Ryan that all I wanted for my birthday this year was a cookie cake and dinner to Olive Garden. He gave me the hot date and cake, but also surprised me with diamond earrings! I did not see that one coming at all! It was so sweet and thoughtful. I still can’t get over it. I am a very blessed girl. Thank you, Lord for a wonderful 25 years.

A “Little Man” Themed Birthday Party

July 30, 2013

Today, my nephew is turning one! I can’t believe how fast time has flown by since he was born. What better way to celebrate our little man than with a “little  man” birthday party?

Happy Birthday, Gage!

A Superbowl Party

February 7, 2013

Most Sundays, we host life group at our house. If you don’t know what a life group is, it’s basically small group for church. Ryan leads our life group with our good friend Jonathan. This past Sunday, instead of doing the normal lesson plan, we threw a mini Super Bowl party instead. We thought this would be a good way to socialize and get to know each other a little more. We had such a great time and I’m pretty sure I went over my diet by about 2000 calories, but it was so nice being able to fellowship with other young-married christians.

I wasn’t too impressed with the Super Bowl commercials this year. I thought the Doritos commercials were probably the best ones that I saw. Other than that, I found the majority either pointless or gross. We had a debate over the Calvin Klein commercial with the half naked guy posing for ten minutes in front of all the men watching the game. Marketing fail. All the guys thought it was awkward and gross, so they decided they would not buy Calvin’s. I thought Beyonce did an okay job. In my opinion, she should have focused more on her singing than dancing. After all, her voice is what made her famous, not her jirates. I haven’t been really impressed with the halftime shows the last few years now. Aerosmith was the last one that I actually enjoyed but the Janet thing happened and well, of course that’s all people talked about.

What did you think of the superbowl? Which commercials were your favorite?
