Every Mother’s Day, we get the same gifts for our moms – flowers and photos. I think we have mixed it up a few times by adding a picture magnet of the kids or a small gift of some sort here and there, but for the most part, an updated photo of the kids and flowers are a ringer, right? Our moms love them and it makes gift-giving super easy on us. The only thing is, that gets sort of old and so this year I want to mix it up a little. If you are like me, you have probably been searching for the perfect gift for a couple of weeks now, but time is dwindling and it’s time to make a purchase. S, why not this beautiful KEEP Collective customized jewelry? I know you are thinking “Oh, Logan, don’t be a commercial trying to push your latest business venture on us,” BUT the only reason I started selling KEEP is because I have been so pleased with their jewelry and can’t get enough of it! This is such a great company and the jewelry is great quality!

I have a love/hate relationship with Spring. I love it because the days are warmer which means getting back outside with my kids, porch swings, sweet tea, sunny days, etc. I hate it because I have the worst allergies. I never had an issue with them until about three years ago. They have been horrible ever since. I’ve always heard that you can’t live in the south forever without developing allergies at some point. I guess there is a lot of truth to that. I’ve been reading a lot about them and one of the tips I see repeated over and over (aside from staying indoors, which is not an option for me) is to change your clothes, wash them and wash your body as soon as you go inside to rid yourself of all the pollen.
Between playing in the dirt, getting messy in the kitchen, and all of the pollen, I do a lot of laundry. Since having my youngest daughter, I have had to do at least a load nearly every day. It’s just a reminder of how much fun we have! After all, they are only little once so why not let kids be kids? I recently received the brand new all® Fresh Clean Essentials™ laundry detergent from Amazon.com and it has been wonderful! It is sulfate free and preserves the color of clothes while giving them a deep and powerful clean without the harshness.
Spring means springtime activities with the kiddos and we have already been outside every day for the last few weeks now thanks to unseasonably warm weather this March. Here are a few of our favorite activities!
Springtime Activities:
Park Days
Playing on our Water Table
Zoo Days
Picnic
Sensory Bins
Blowing Bubbles
Playing Ball: Soccer, Basketball, golf, etc.
Wagon Rides
Feeding the Ducks
Visiting a Farm
Picking Wildflowers
Some of our favorite sensory bins are filled with dry beans and dry rice. I like to hide little toys throughout the bin for the kids to dig around in to find! If you’re in the mood to get really messy, try jello, play dough, dirt, sand, etc.
How to Create a Sensory Bin:
Grab a plastic box or bin
Fill it with dry beans or rice
Hide toys of different shapes, sizes and textures throughout so your toddler can feel around for them.
What springtime activities do you enjoy as a family? Have you tried the new sulfate-free all® Fresh Clean Essentials™ detergent?
Summer Lovin’ and Jumpin’
It’s no secret around here how much I love rompers and jumpsuits and how much I love wearing Lilly Pulitzer. My hubby was so sweet and surprised me with this jumpsuit as an early Mother’s Day gift so that I could bring it with us to the beach! It was perfect and is so comfortable! It was great to have at the beach for the cooler night and the cold restaurants. I definitely got my Summer Lovin’ on this past weekend with our little beach getaway and everything about it was perfect.
Beach Trip in Destin
As I mentioned in Friday’s post, it had been a while since Ryan and I went on a vacation – alone – in over 3 years. Yikes! Heading to Destin was the best semi-spontaneous decision we have ever made and it was exactly what the doctor ordered for both of us. Sometimes, getting away from your every day life is exactly what you need to recharge, and that is exactly what we did. We relaxed and ate…a lot.
Friday Happies
It’s Friday! And, as if that wasn’t enough of a “happy,” we are heading to the beach today! Did I mention this is the first kid-free non-business trip we have taken since our 1st anniversary trip? Yeah, we don’t get out much. To say I am excited is an understatement. No diapers for 48 hours? Pinch me! I’ll miss my babies, but I am in need of some relaxation and it is coming at a great time! I’m looking forward to spending one on one time with my husband and coming back home feeling refreshed.
I am also very excited to announce that I am officially a Keep Collective Designer! I will be hosting my first social as a designer next Thursday, so if you want an invite, leave me a comment, message me on Facebook, email me, tweet me, whatever! I would absolutely love to have you join me! I am excited to design some beautiful jewelry for Mother’s Day (coming up May 8th, can you believe it?)! If you would like me to design something for you, let me know and I would be happy to do it! Also, I am drooling over Keep’s new summer collection! Can I just have one of each, please? That tassel charm is adorable!

6 Things To Do After You’ve Been Sick
As I mentioned yesterday, I had a stomach virus over the weekend, but that is not the only sickness that has been going around our house. Sophie had hand, foot and mouth a couple of weeks ago as well, so I have had my essential oils diffusing and have been taking lots of precautions to make sure the sickness stays out of our house for good this time because we are so ready to feel better and get back to our normal routine. All of this has really thrown me off of everything from my exercise routine to my blogging schedule and I am definitely ready to get back to normal around here.
Life’s Tough, Get a Helmet
I try really hard to stay positive on here because who enjoys reading sad posts? I gain encouragement and inspiration from reading bogs that are uplifting and positive, and so I try to write with that in mind. I did promise myself that I would be transparent on my blog because I enjoy reading blogs that are real and honest. So, I’m going to be honest and real today.
Last week was a really tough week. I was pretty sick and topped it off by getting a stomach virus on Saturday after we visited Thomas the Train. We barely made it home before I got sick. I’m still not sure if I had a bug or if it was something I ate. All I know is it was bad and I haven’t been that sick in a very long time. On top of that, Hampton still has not been sleeping which has caused a lot of foul moods in our household. When I don’t get my sleep, I am less than chipper. There have been a lot of crazy things that have happened this week in my personal life. It’s been heartbreaking and dissapointing, and sometimes, I just want to quit, become a mermaid and move to the beach.
I’ve decided that instead of all of these lovely life things getting me down, I am going to look for the positive in everything. Yes, our closing date has been pushed back and back, but it will happen and we will have our own house again, soon. Yes, Hampton is still adjusting to his big boy bed, but he will get used to it eventually and we will all sleep again. This year has been really hard for my family, but there is no doubt in my mind that it will end in endless amounts of blessings. My mom wrote on the mirror by the back door this verse: Psalm 34:17 “When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all of their troubles.” We have been praying this as a family and we believe that our troubles will not last much longer. Things are going to get better. And it starts with this weekend!
My in-laws are graciously keeping our kids for us and Ryan and I are off to the beach! The last time we went on a trip with no kids was 2 years ago to Ryan’s business conference which was not a vacation for him, so we are thrilled! To say I am excited is an understatement. It’s almost sad how excited I am for this break! I can’t wait to feel the sand between my toes and smell the delicious beach waves! And sleep! I’m so excited to sleep! haha
Life is going to be hard. We are told that, but it’s how you deal with the struggles that make you who you are. I’ve tried to be extremely quiet through our craziness. In fact, I haven’t posted a Facebook status in months. I have tried to always be kind to everyone, and sometimes that means me being extremely quiet and biting my tongue in half. I am choosing to see life through a more positive lens. I have to admit, it is impossible to look at my babies and not smile. Even if we are in a zombie like state. 🙂
We Met Thomas the Train
Last year, we took Hamp to see Thomas the Train in Calera, Alabama and he loved it! Unfortunately it ended badly and we later found out he had hand foot and mouth and we really should not have had him out in the sun that day. #parentingfail This year was a million times better because we had no sick kids and with Hampton being a year older, I felt like he enjoyed it so much more!
Spring Must Haves with thredUP
If you guys follow me on Snapchat, you probably saw the snap of my thredUP box that came in the mail a couple of days ago! I have been shopping at thredUP now for a couple of years and they never disappoint. This wee was no exception! I scored a Lilly Pulitzer skort for under $22! I also snagged a Coach wristlet for $30! I absolutely love the amazing deals that they offer on my favorite brands that I can rarely afford to purchase at full price. My mission was simple: to find staple pieces to add to my spring wardrobe to complete my look for the season. I definitely feel like I did just that!
Spring Showers and New Dresses
We were supposed to have our family photos done yesterday afternoon, but the weather was pretty ugly, so we rescheduled due to the lovely rain. In happier news, we played outside most of the day earlier this week and it was beautiful. It was cool and cloudy so it felt amazing. My little buddy and I went for a jog and spent the rest of our day playing with chalk, running through mud puddles and playing dress up (See Exhibit A on Snapchat: LoganCan). I also spent part of the day in my new favorite dress! Only part of the day because a lot of it was spent in nike shorts and a tee-shirt. Let’s be real. I love shopping for new dresses during the springtime that will get me through the hot summer days.
