As I mentioned in Friday’s post, it had been a while since Ryan and I went on a vacation – alone – in over 3 years. Yikes! Heading to Destin was the best semi-spontaneous decision we have ever made and it was exactly what the doctor ordered for both of us. Sometimes, getting away from your every day life is exactly what you need to recharge, and that is exactly what we did. We relaxed and ate…a lot.
Friday, we went for a walk on the beach and then went out to an early dinner at McGuire’s Irish Pub. It is a favorite of mine! If you are ever in Destin, make it a point to eat at least one meal there. I made the mistake of ordering nachos (silly me for thinking it may be something I could easily finish before my meal) and it was ginormous and so delicious that I was fun before my entree arrived. So, we ate leftovers for dinner the next day! We also ate breakfast a The Donut Hole – another Destin staple – on Saturday and Another Broken Egg on Sunday. I highly recommend all of the above!
In addition to all the eating we did, we also did a little shopping (mostly window shopping) and thoroughly enjoyed the beach. We laid on the beach all day Saturday and a little while on Sunday morning complete with beach walks every night. It was so beautiful and the perfect time of year to go! There were hardly any tourists there, I guess because school is still going, but the weather was perfect, so I am marking my calendar for the same time next year to go back because it was heavenly!
I feel totally refreshed and ready to take on the busy week ahead! I am so excited to host my first two KEEP Collective socials and we are getting ready for Sophie’s big 1st birthday party this weekend! It is going to be so much fun and I can’t wait to celebrate my sweet baby girl. Of course, this momma is feeling all kinds of emotional, but I’m so proud of her and can’t wait to celebrate this milestone in her life.
Have you been to the beach this season?
