I remember being pregnant with Weston and having a 2 year old and 1 year old. It was a crazy time. To make things more difficult, there was a time when I was facing some complications and had to be on moderate bedrest. Not exactly easy with two toddlers. I remember feeling so overwhelmed and not unprepared – which is so unlike me. I am normally pretty organized when it comes to big life events. I like to be prepared at all times and so this was a foreign feeling and it was unpleasant for me. One thing I did while planning for baby boy #3 was of course, buy diapers and I also purchased formula. I did breast feed all of my babies but I have been in situations where I had to supplement or use formula for different reasons. I feel so much better having it on hand so that if a situation does come up, we have a back-up plan.

Traditional Taste of the Holidays: Crock-Pot Spaghetti

Every time I think of the holidays, one of the first things that comes to mind is the warm and traditional taste and foods of the season. I love when my family puts a spin on traditional recipes to create the perfect holiday dish. In our house, we love pasta. It is one thing that we all five agree on. Spaghetti is a regular on our dinner menu and because we eat it so often, we like to mix it up a bit and do different variations.

Last night we made a delicious spaghetti in the crock-pot because we were in and out all day and dealing with sick kids. We didn’t have a lot of time to cook, so I browned the meat (we used beef last night, but sometimes use turkey to make it light and healthier) and threw it and the sauce in the crock pot to simmer along with a few seasonings. I waited to do the bow tie noodles until we were about ready to eat. I topped off the dish with some fresh basil and Stella Parmesan shredded cheese. This cheese is organic and tastes fresh and delicious. I love to buy organic when I can and This was so easy to pick up at Publix and is a brand I can feel good about.

Lumberjack Party at the Pumpkin Patch

Happy Monday, friends! We have had the craziest week! Ryan was out of town last week, I have STILL been sick and poor Pippa is still at the vet. She is improving, but she is very sick. My kids threw my laptop and it has not been working right (since my lack of posting over the last few days) and our house is disgusting after Pippa’s sickness. Not to worry, we have carpet cleaners coming. Until then, I am wearing shoes in my house. All the time. We also had the boys’ Lumberjack party at the pumpkin patch this weekend! THAT was my highlight and saving grace of the entire week. Spending time with friends and family and getting my mind off of all of the craziness of the week was just what the doctor ordered.

I love me some cardigans. In fact, I have become a bit of a..umm… cardigan hoarder. Cough cough. Really though, there is nothing better than warm and cozy neutral cardigans during the fall (and winter if you’re in the south) months. I recently purchased the oversized chocolate brown cardigan because I am drawn to dark browns and warm hues this time of year. In fact, our dishes we registered for at our wedding are dark chocolate. I just love it! I fell in love with the sleeves on this one and love how long it is. It is a great one to wear with leggings and it is so cozy!

Easy Activities For Toddlers When They’re Sick

We have all been super sick for the last couple of weeks. One by one, we have all caught it and it doesn’t seem to want to go away. Unfortunately, this is the worst timing for sickness because Hampton’s birthday is tomorrow and we have the boy’s party this weekend. I’m also doing it solo this week, so theres that. Send lots of prayers over our way, friends! One thing I like to do when the kids are tired of resting but still obviously feel bad is think of easy activities for toddlers that won’t make them over do it.

Friday Favorites + Life Lately

I feel like I haven’t done a life update in forever! I’ll be honest, I’ve been struggling lately with how much is too much to put on my blog. As I’ve grown, it has been something I have had a harder time with. Putting yourself out there for the world to judge can be difficult, but ultimately, I don’t care about myself as much as I do my kids. I did promise myself that if I wanted to continue blogging (which I do) I have to be open and honest with y’all. So, these are just a few things going through my head. I know a lot of other bloggers who struggle with this, and you can’t be too careful these days. I am also thinking of doing a post on ways to keep your family safe as you blog through life. Would you guys be interested in seeing that? Let me know! It can be tricky when your life is your work and your work is your life. They intertwine for me and it is hard to not show my kids because they ARE my life. At the same time, it gets scary sometimes. If you’re a blogger, how do you deal with it?
