Obviously I’m in love with lime-green, but come on, these are beautiful colours. I’m currently wearing Vices Versa by Essie and it’s so bright and cheerful. Do you see any colors that you can’t live without? What color are you currently wearing?
A Reintroduction and ALWB Announcement
Hi there! I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I can’t hold it in any longer so without further ado, I’m excited to announce that I will be joining the Alabama Women Bloggers as the Blogger of the Month Correspondent! I have been working with these ladies for a couple of weeks now, preparing and learning the ins and outs and I have loved getting to know them. I’ve also met some pretty incredible Alabama Bloggers that I didn’t even know existed. Who knew there were so many? I have also been re-branding and gained a few new followers lately, so I have been wanting to reintroduce myself to all of the newbies. I’m excited to get reacquainted with some of you and get to know others for the first time. So here is a little about me…

My name is Logan and I blog at Logan Can (formally, Southern Sunflowers and Coffee Beans) about my life as a new mom, fashion, books, fitness and whatever else comes to my mind.. My birthday is August 8th, 1988…Can you guess what my lucky number is? I’ve been blogging for almost 2 years now, although I have taken two mini breaks in between – once when I was really sick during my pregnancy and again right after I had my sweet Hampton. I started blogging to write book reviews, because I’m a bit of a book hoarder lover, and to journal my life as a newlywed. It quickly became an outlet for my writing/journaling and I have loved every minute of it. I wasn’t expecting to become friends with so many amazing women. I didn’t even know there was such a thing as a “blogging community” until I was several months into blogging. That is when I discovered link-ups and found all types of different bloggers that I had something in common with. We started emailing, tweeting, talking on the phone etc. and have formed actual friendships.
I was born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama, where I have lived my entire life – other than a few months that I lived in Auburn during my college years.
I married Ryan in October 2011. After 9 months of trying, several needles, and a few medications I became pregnant with my precious baby boy. He was born October 24, 2013. October is a pretty big month for us. My boys have been my biggest blessings. They bring me so much joy and laughter every day.
I graduated college in May 2011 with a degree in psychology. I had every intention on going back after getting married, but I still haven’t started back. I am kind of weird and actually enjoyed school. Especially my major. I have a heart for helping people and I feel like that is a huge calling in my life. Over the past few years, God has revealed that to me more and more because of certain people and situations he has placed in my life. I love to encourage others and give them hope. I would love to go back to school and become a counselor or a Psychologist, I just haven’t done it yet. Since graduation day – literally – I have worked as a web content manager for local restaurants and lawyers. It’s boring, but allows me to be home with Hampton while still bringing in the bacon.
I love to travel with my husband. It is a huge passion of ours. We actually just got back from a quick trip to Orlando. We love to visit new places and see new things. There are so many places I would love to move to, but you know that saying “there’s no place like home.” It’s true. I would miss our families so much if we moved, however, nothing is certain and we could move at any moment with Ryan’s slightly unpredictable job. We went to London and Paris for our honeymoon and it was one of the best memories of my life. It still feels like a dream that we went there. I feel like I could adapt to living in either of those cities. I’ve also always thought it would be so neat to live in California. Either the San Francisco area or maybe even Napa Valley. Speaking of, we are planning a trip to San Fran in the fall! We are so excited. I’m pretty adaptable, so I think I could really live anywhere, but I do think it would be tough to be too far away from our family.
As far as entertainment, I love, love, love to read, so when I get a free moment I usually turn to a book. When I’m not in the mood to read, I do turn on the T.V. to either Gilmore Girls or New Girl. I love the quick smart humor that GG gives us. Plus, it’s the best written show in the world. How can you not love it? I am also a huge movie buff. I thank my dad for that. It’s in my blood. I love any and all chick flicks, comedies and some action movies. I can’t handle all of that sci-fi mess. it’s definitely not my thing.
I actually have a whole post written on music and have yet to hit that Publish button. I am not really sure why. I’ll post it soon because I love music. I grew up dancing and continued to dance all through college. I have been exposed to so many genres of music over my life and have an extremely wide variety of taste. I was also raised by this man named Tommy, my dad, who forced me to listen to all things 70’s rock and old country. Thanks, dad. Side note, he was on tour with Molly Hatchet. If you don’t know who they are, google them. Needless to say, some of my favorites are: Aerosmith, Jimmy Buffet, Pink Floyd, The Eagles, Michael Jackson, Billy Joel, Willie Nelson, Loretta Lynn, Red Hot Chili Peppers….I could go on all day. Seriously. Be on the lookout for my post on music later next week.
My dream job is to become a travel blogger or write for a travel magazine. I can’t imagine how amazing that would be. To actually get paid to travel and write about food, museums, hotels, etc. I mean, I would do that for free. Can you imagine getting paid to do it? I follow so many successful travel blogs and they amaze and inspire me.

This year, I am most looking forward to our trips to Chicago and San Francisco, watching my baby grow during his first year of life (he is changing so much every day), celebrating our 3rd anniversary, and hopefully growing this blog space of mine. I am venturing out and starting to do a little bit of fashion blogging (if you haven’t already noticed) and it has been a lot of fun. They have become some of my favorite posts, and according to my stats, they are your favorites as well. I am really looking forward to getting to know more of you, and of course all of my Alabama ladies! I will be hunting down Bloggers of the Month every month and working with them, so be on the lookout for me! I’ve already enjoyed getting to know our June Blogger of the Month. Be sure to stop by and say hello to Catherine. She is kind of awesome.

Hampton // 7 Months
Memorial Day Weekend 2014
Memorial Weekend was so busy for us, a good busy. We had an amazing weekend. Hampton and I had a play date with a dear friend of mine and her baby boy who is one month older than Hamp. We had the opportunity to catch up and the boys had a blast.
We drove to Dothan on Friday night to my cousin’s graduation. It is that time of year, graduations, weddings and birthday parties galore. We are so proud of her! She is the tenth and last grandchild in our family to graduate from high school.
Saturday we attended a crawfish boil. It was a lot of fun. I skipped the crawfish part because I just can’t seem to eat my food when I see it crawling around before it’s cooked. Gross. We enjoyed the pool for a while. It was Hampton’s first time in the pool. He loved it…for a while and then got tired.

Don’t you love his socks? That’s America, folks! |
Sunday we took a break from festivities and I caught up on some housework. Laundry is so much fun!
Monday we had pizza and laid by the pool all day. We played dominoes with my family for a while that night. I spent some much-needed time with my family and saw great friends as well. It was the perfect holiday weekend.
While you’re here, enter to win an Ipad mini from Paige and friends! Don’t forget to wish her a happy bloggy birthday!
Lace Maxi Skirt
Sisters are the best. Especially my sister. She is almost 7 years younger than me, but we have always been so close. When she moved away to college, it was tough because I went from seeing her about every other day to maybe once or twice a month. She is only 45 minutes down the road, but it just isn’t like it used to be. Perks of growing up, I guess.
Over the weekend I was able to spend a lot of time with her. We laughed a lot, played dominoes, laid by the pool, did a lot of talking and she modeled for me! She bought this outfit on our shopping trip and so obviously I had to take pictures of her in it. She is beautiful and has a unique style. She is the type of girl who doesn’t care what anyone things about her. She will wear, say, do whatever she thinks is right for her. I so admire that quality and am trying to be more like that myself. If she wants to wear a hat, she will. No matter how people look at her or what people say about it.
I had a lot of fun photographing Alex. She has a smile that is contagious. Not to mention that maxi! I’m in love!
Maxi and hat can be found here.
Do you have a sister? Are you loving maxis this season?
Summer Travels: Orlando
Ryan and I traveled to Orlando last week for a conference. We stayed at the Gaylord Palms Resort, and let me tell you, it was nice. I seriously felt like I was at a resort in the Caribbean rather than Orlando. Ryan worked most of the trip, although we did have dinner together both nights we were there. I left Hampton with my mom for the first time and it was tough being away from him, but it was really nice to get a break and be able to relax for a couple of days. I read 2 books and lounged by the pool. It was pretty great.

Book Review: Lost Lake by Sarah Addison Allen
Lost Lake by Sarah Addison Allen
January, 2014 St. Martin’s Press
Synopsis from Goodreads: Suley, Georgia, is home to Lost Lake Cottages and not much else. Which is why it’s the perfect place for newly-widowed Kate and her eccentric eight-year-old daughter Devin to heal. Kate spent one memorable childhood summer at Lost Lake, had her first almost-kiss at Lost Lake, and met a boy named Wes at Lost Lake. It was a place for dreaming. But Kate doesn’t believe in dreams anymore, and her Aunt Eby, Lost Lake’s owner, wants to sell the place and move on. Lost Lake’s magic is gone. As Kate discovers that time has a way of standing still at Lost Lake can she bring the cottages—and her heart—back to life? Because sometimes the things you love have a funny way of turning up again. And sometimes you never even know they were lost . . . until they are found
My Thoughts: This book is on my 2014 book list, so I was pretty excited to read it. It was pretty amazing. Sarah Addison Allen did an awesome job on this novel. It had the usual mystical style we have come to expect from her books, but I loved the characters in this one more than any of her other stories. It was the perfect balance of love/mystery/excitement. I would definitely recommend it. I gave this book 4/5 stars.
Casual Weekends
Happy hump day, friends! I’m chillin’ out in Orlando with Ryan. I tagged along so that I could get away for a couple of days while he attends conferences. My mom is keeping Hampton for the first time for a couple of nights and I am missing him so much. It’s nice to have a break and rest, but not having my little munchkin around is tough. I have been able to lay by the pool, catch up on my favorite blogs and read. A lot. It has been so awesome.
Since I’ve been away, this has basically been my wardrobe. Lately, I’ve found this to be my go-to weekend look as well. Simple with a little pop of color. I know I know…already dreaming of the weekend. I can’t help it. I am obsessing over these accessories from Charming Charlie.
