Getting My Mommy Fuel with VitaCup Coffee

June 1, 2017

This post is sponsored by VitaCup Coffee, All opinions are my own.

I am not one of those women who gets pregnant, gains 20 to 25 pounds and looks amazing the second she gives birth. It has taken me a lot of strong will, determination, dieting and exercise to get back to my “normal” after each pregnancy and has also taken several months. Even now, I am almost 7 months postpartum and still have 5 lbs. to lose. It is a process for me, and not an easy one. Because of all the struggles I had during my third pregnancy (placenta previa, a vitamin D deficiency and gallbladder issues) and even some health issues postpartum, I decided it was time to get myself really healthy.

A Morning Routine for a Productive Day

May 1, 2017

This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group®  and The J.M. Smucker Company, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #DunkinDonutsPublix  http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV

I am a very routine person by nature. Growing up, my sister would aways joke on me because every night when I would get ready for bed, I did the exact things in the exact same order (PSA: I still do for the most part). Having a routine as a mother – especially a mother who works from home – is crucial, in my opinion. Without a good routine, it is next to impossible for me to get anything done. The days that I haven’t made a to-do list or made a plan and far more chaotic and I seem to not get anything done those days. Trust me, I know because we had a day like this last Friday. My entire day was thrown off by me not taking the time to go through my morning routine.

Market Town Coffee Co.

September 8, 2015

Ryan and I have big dreams for our future. We would love to live on a piece of land (about 5 acres or so) and build a farm house (think Fixer Upper comes to Alabama). We would also love to open a small bookstore one day. It is very healthy to have big dreams. It is also very encouraging to see other’s dreams actually happening.

I grew up dancing with Laura Jean and her older sister, Becca, since we were very young. In fact, I have a group picture of Becca and me in the same 4 year old class. They are two of the sweetest and most encouraging people I know. Laura married Cody who happens to be my mother’s maid of honor’s son. Such a small world. Our moms are still very close even today.

Laura and Cody not only have a huge heart for those effected by human trafficking, they also have a big heart for our city. Montgomery is the capital of Alabama and is so rich in history. It is full of beautiful homes, young professionals and entrepreneurs, but unfortunately, people have a hard time seeing the city’s full potential because of our growing crime rate. While people are moving further east of Montgomery or to surrounding areas, Laura and Cody decided to move to the heart of our beautiful city.

Not only have they moved to the heart of our city, they have also followed their dream by opening a coffee cart where they sell their own brewed “Bell Blend” coffee. They brew it fresh every night for their customers and let me just say, it is delicious! One thing our city is lacking is a good coffee shop. They hope to open a full coffee shop soon to fill this void. I know I will be one of many many regulars to darken the doors!

Fresh-Coffee

As soon as you meet Laura Jean, you fall in love with her sweet and kind personality. Christ shines through her in such a vivid way. She brighten up everyone’s day and is so wonderful to every single one of her customers. I spent an hour down at the Market Town Coffee cart with Laura and caught up with her on all of the latest things going on in our lives. She encouraged me so much just in that one hour. I loved watching how she impacted every person that approached her coffee cart. She put a smile on every face that walked by.

Brewed-Coffee

It is encouraging to see someone have a huge impact on people and who are following and excelling in their dreams. If you haven’t gone down to visit The Market Town Coffee cart, you are missing out. If you are not local, they offer to ship their coffee blend and I highly recommend you try some! There is something about freshly brewed coffee that is so pure and delicious! Laura also happens to blog over at The Ivory Bell. She is an excellent writer and has such a natural talent for bringing a beauty to her words that make you never want to quit reading. I’m so thankful for people like Laura Jean and Cody who live so open for Christ and shine his light in the darkest places of a lost city. I have so much faith that as more people and businesses gain courage to move downtown and into Old Cloverdale, that Montgomery will thrive again. It can be turned around.

In addition to their tasty coffee, they sell adorable t-shirts! I actually just ordered one and can’t wait to receive it! Read more about Laura and Cody’s mission and don’t forget to check them out on Facebook and Twitter!

Game Day

August 31, 2013

For those of you who weren’t around last year, fall is my favorite time of year. I am a little obsessed with the lovely leaves changing, pumpkin spice lattes, scarecrows, pumpkins and pumpkin patches, sunflowers, the cool nip in the air, and most importantly, Football. You have to be if you live in the south. After all, the SEC is the dominant conference. Sorry y’all, but it’s true. In our house, we are War Eagle fans, but I’m also a Gator fan. Blame it on my dad. Every college football day is a big deal in our household. You will find us eating an excessive amount of junk food and yelling at the T.V (when we aren’t tailgating) every Saturday. Chances are, we are sitting on the couch, I’m trying to squeeze into my Florida jersey and sipping a pumpkin spice latte while watching gameday. Happy game day! Oh, and War Eagle / Go Gators!

eKoffee Makes My Taste Buds Happy

July 10, 2013

For those of you who read my blog (or have ever just looked at the title), you know that I am in love with coffee. One of the hardest things I have had to do since I got pregnant was give up coffee…or at least drink much, much less.

About a week ago, the owner of eKoffee emailed me and asked if I would like to try some of their freshly roasted coffee. I, of course, said absolutely.

The first bag I tried was the Patti’s Place – Brazilian Mornin’ blend. Let me tell you, this coffee is outstanding. It is the perfect blend for my husband and me. He likes hazelnut, I like vanilla. This roast has a hint of both, plus a sweet hint of maple. Again, I can’t say enough about how good this coffee is. If you are looking to try something new to kick start your morning, This is the perfect roast. Check it out here.

I also tried the Booskerdoo – Bottle Rocket blend. This is more of my husband’s style of coffee. He likes a bit of a stronger coffee and this certainly was stronger than the Brazilian Morning. If you like a darker, more acidic coffee, this is more your style. Check it out here.

eKoffee is hosting a twitter chat tonight at 9pm EST where they will be discussing their incredible fresh roasted coffee from around the world. They will also be hosting live giveaways and exclusive discounts for the participants! Use hashtag #eKoffeeChat. You don’t want to miss this event! I hope you’ll join in the fun, and be sure to follow them on twitter @eKoffee.

Coffee Punch anyone?

December 28, 2012

A few weeks ago, I promised I’d post my mother’s coveted coffee punch recipe in my Sunday Social post. I can promise you, you will fall in love. I can’t ever get enough of this coffee punch. She makes it for our Christmas party every year, and for my family on Christmas morning. Okay, on to the recipe…

Ingredients:

1) 2oz. jar of instant coffee (decaf or caffeinated)
1) gallon of milk (we use 2% for this recipe)
1) 16oz. can of Hershey’s chocolate syrup
1) half gallon of french vanilla ice cream
(optional) 1/4 cup of sugar (we only use this sometimes, it is pretty sweet without it).

Directions:

Pour instant coffee into a large bowl. Boil about a cup and a half of water and pour it over the coffee, stir to dissolve. Slowly pour in chocolate syrup and milk. Stir well. Scoop 6 to 8 scoops of ice cream and plop it in the bowl. Refrigerate until you are ready to serve. Ice cream will melt on top and make it extra delicious. Before serving, put a few more scoops of ice cream in the punch. Ta Da! Done! and enjoy…

This is my favorite “holiday” drink, although I could possibly drink it every day.

WARNING: you may gain 10lbs.
