It’s Okay

January 19, 2015

To all of my mama friends out there…

It’s okay that you haven’t put on make-up for two days, or brushed your hair…did you have time to brush your teeth today? It’s okay.
It’s okay that you have a pile of laundry to do, but you just got the baby down and all you want to do is sleep. Just sleep. You will get that laundry done eventually. Those dishes can wait. It’s okay.
It’s okay that you feel guilty sometimes for having a second child while your first is still only a baby himself. (Okay, that one was for me) It’s okay.

It’s okay that you are still in your pajamas at 1pm.

It’s okay that your dog peed on your floor because you forgot to let her out.

It’s okay that you have peanut butter in your hair from lunch…yesterday,  and you just remembered you should probably wash that out at some point.

It’s okay to read that book to your son who is really wanting you to sit down with him instead of catching up on your work.

It is so easy to feel overwhelmed and exhausted when you are a mother. Especially a new mother, or as I’ve learned recently – a pregnant mother. It’s okay to give yourself some “me” time and to rest when you really need to. God says in Matthew 11:28 β€œCome to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Even God rested on the 7th day. Everyone needs to rest at some point. It’s okay to ask for help and to cuddle on the couch with your husband after a long day instead of getting those chores done. It’s okay to fall a little behind to spend more quality time with your kids. You will catch up and everything will be okay.
Do you ever feel overwhelmed with all of your daily tasks?

2014 Reflections

January 1, 2015

Some of my favorite moments were celebrating many of Hampton’s first. His first New Year, his first snow (in Alabama), his first hike, picnics, swimming, our trip to the beach, his first birthday party, and then his second Halloween, the day we found out we were expecting a little girl and his second Christmas.

I loved our Chicago and Orlando trips as well. We have had a year full of blessings, a little heartache, and a lot of love. I am so excited for the new year to begin and to welcome our baby girl into our lives and begin celebrating all of her firsts. It is going to be an incredible year.
Here are my top 5 posts of 2014:

Christmas Morning 2014

December 30, 2014

Christmas Eve, we baked TON of peanut butter and snicker doodle cookies. We had dinner at Ryan’s grandparent’s house and then we did one of my favorite traditions and went to look at Christmas lights in our pajamas with my sister.

Christmas morning, we woke up and opened our presents from Santa! Thomas was Hampton’s favorite toy. He hasn’t played with anything else since laying eyes on him. It was love at first sight. No, but really.
After opening gifts, we laid Hampton down for a nap that he ended up not taking, and then we made a big breakfast before heading over to my parent’s house.

The boys loved their giant gift from my parent’s. Hampton immediately climbed in the back and they were ready to go!

My brother got a kayak and I couldn’t tell who was more excited! The boys thought it was another big toy for them and climbed all over it. It was so cute. Of course, Uncle Slim didn’t mind at all.

By the end of Christmas with my parent’s, Hampton was ready to crash. This is the importance of naps, my friend. They are everything, and when babies don’t take them, well, it’s not fun.
Christmas afternoon, we went to Ryan’s parent’s house and celebrated Christmas with them. Hampton got a slide (that we haven’t put together yet, but pictures soon, I promise) that he is so excited about. We had a wonderful Christmas. We ate way too much food and loved spending time with our families, but my favorite thing in the world is seeing Hampton’s face light up when he opens his gifts or eats that delicious food. He is a sweetheart and I love seeing him light up over the smallest things -like wrapping paper.  I hope you had a Merry Christmas as well!

Hampton’s Closet // Super Hero Shirt

November 18, 2014

Super Hero Shirt // Corduroy Pants – Old Navy similar // Converse

I’m in love with clothes that you don’t see every where. It is so hard to find unique items for Hamp because, let’s be honest, boys clothes are pretty standard where ever you shop. After visiting the Pike Road Arts and Crafts Fair a few weeks ago, I ran across a local online boutique that I fell in love with. Little Langs has so many unique designs like this little super hero shirt that I just couldn’t pass up! The quality is wonderful. Their shirts are so soft that I want one! As you can see, Hampton loves his new purchase as well!
Definitely check out their designs. I did not receive any payment or incentive for this post, I just love this boutique so much that I had to share it with all of you! πŸ™‚

Baby Hampton

November 1, 2013

I can’t wait to share our incredible birth story on here later. It was a true blessing and the most amazing experience of my life. God definitely had a hand in Hampton’s birth. Thank you so much for your prayers and kind words. We are having his newborn photo session today and I can’t wait to share the pictures with you soon! Here are a few pictures from our first week home.
