This is one of my most popular posts every year and I absolutely love putting it together for 2 reasons. 1. Because it makes me research new books releasing this year and some old titles I may have missed out on and 2. Because it gets me so excited to read again! I didn’t do a great job of reading last year as I mentioned in this post, but I am hoping to turn that around. I see many nursing sessions and summer travels in my future, so I plan to take advantage of that time to read. I also recently discovered audio books… you mean that’s been a thing? Well, not to me. I am as loyal as they come to the real thing. I love books, but my lifestyle tells me audio books are the only way I’m getting all of these read this year. So, here we go! 19 books (or more) to read in 2019…
19 Books to Read in 2019
Chick Lit:
The Rules of Magic: A Novel by Alice Hoffman
Mystery/Thriller:
The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware – If you’re looking for a good thriller, my cousin highly recommended this one to me and it I also on Oprah’s Book Club List!
The Clockmaker’s Daughter by Kate Morton (one of my favorite authors)
Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty (another favorite author)
Books for moms:
Unglued by Lysa TerKeurst – I am currently listening to this book on Hooplah and absolutely love it! It’s so encouraging and makes me yell “YESSS!” every 5 minutes! She is so relatable as a mom and shares bible verses and encouragement in this book for different situations life tends to throw at you. I recommend this to moms of all ages!
The Better Mom Devotional by Ruth Schwenk – This is a daily devotional for moms. They are short but so good! It just released in October, so it is fairly new, but has great reviews!
Raising Grateful Kids in an Entitled World by Kristen Welch – This is one that I’ve been wanting to read for a long time and I think it is so relevant today.
Biographies/Memoirs:
Educated by Tara Westover (recommended by one of you and a best seller)
Whisky in a Teacup by Reese Witherspoon – My brother in law got me this book for Christmas and I’ve already nearly read the whole thing! I love Reese – a fellow southern girl. This is a book filled with recipes, southern traditions and personal stories from Reese.
Historical Fiction:
Carnegie’s Maid by Marie Benedict – I came across this novel while perusing Amazon one evening and it sounded really good + had great reviews!
Books Releasing in 2019:
I Owe You One by Sophie Kinsella (releasing in February) – I always love her novels! They are light-hearted and always make me laugh. I feel like this will be a good one to take with you on your spring break vacation!
Bowlaway by Elizabeth McCracken (releasing in February) – This historical fiction novel sounds so good! I can’t wait for it to come out. It is also on Oprah’s list!
Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis (releasing in March)- Rachel is a blogger and I absolutely love her first book (Girl, Wash Your Face)! It was so good and encouraging and a great book for women in their 20’s and 30’s!
Gingerbread by Helen Oyeyemi – (releasing in March) This one sounds a little “out there” but I am a sucker for fairy tales, so I am very intrigued by this one!
The Bad Mother’s Book Club by Keris Stainton (releasing in April)
A Wonderful Stroke of Luck by Ann Beattie
The Bookshop on the Shore by Jenny Colgan (releasing in June) – I fell in love with Jenny Colgan’s novels a few years ago right after Ryan and I married. They are always sweet and have some sweet recipes throughout the book! This is a must-read this summer!
In West Mills by De’Shawn Charles Winslow (releasing in June)
The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern (releasing in November) – A second novel from the author of The Night Circus! I read it in a former book club when it first came out and it was weird but so good and intriguing at every turn! I am very excited to read this new novel.
As always, I’m ending with a classic…this year’s classic is Little Women! I am thrilled to reread this one before it is turned into a movie later this year starring Emma Watson!
Okay, so technically that’s 20 books… oh, well! If you have any that I need to add to the list, let me know in the comments! What are you looking forward to reading this year?
