Okay, so Hampton is two now, but these tips held true before his birthday. I plan on incorporating them again once our baby boy is born in November(ish). Running errands with two young children – regardless of their age can be trying. We’ve all experienced toddler tantrums out in public probably more than we have smooth and successful errand runs, am I right? Is that just me? Okay…
Over the weekend, we ran errands with our kids and toured our local parade of homes – just for fun. Our new neighborhood participated and it was neat getting to see other homes like ours and how they decorated and styled them. The key for us is packing what we need for the kids, thinking ahead, and being aware of the time of day. Taking the kids out during nap time is a huge no-no. I’ve regretted it every time I’ve done it. Also, staying out late with littles is more miserable than it is worth it. My kids tend to get really grumpy when they are tired and pulling out their favorite snacks or toys no longer does the trick.
When we run errands, I like to pack travel-friendly healthy snacks. I try to always take plenty just in case. I picked up these Gerber Lil’ Beanies(TM) the other day on the baby aisle at Target and they are a huge hit with both of my babies. I think Sophie would eat the entire can in one sitting if I let her! Check out these delicious snacks and retailers here!
What tips do you have for running errands with toddlers?

Haha so I don’t have kids but even as an adult, I am way happier on long drive or running errands when I have snacks lol

Oh my gosh, yes. Snacks are so important to help when my littles get hangry! I haven’t tried these yet, but we are big fans of Gerber snacks around here!

Such a great tip! I battled with myself when I had our second son. It wasn’t easy leaving the house, and I would avoid it often. Snacks are such a great way to keep your kids entertained while you drive.

My kids won’t be two under two, but it’ll be close! I need all the help I can get 🙂 I hate being tied down to nap time, but it’s just the reality – can’t miss it! And always have to have those snacks on hand 🙂
