I am a huge fan of brunch. In fact, lately my kids have been waking up earlier and that means we eat earlier, so lunch has felt more like brunch around our house. I also helped with a baby shower a couple of weeks ago that was a brunch and the ladies seemed to love it! The only thing missing from the menu were some delicious mocha frappes. They are, after all, my favorite coffee drink!
I also happen to love brunch food! Little sandwiches and yummy breakfast scones are just so delicious! What I love more than the food is great company. My best friend came over last weekend and we had a little brunch while we enjoyed great conversation and caught up on each other’s lives. She got to see the kids and enjoyed playing with them as well. I ran out to Walmart to grab the new Silk Almond Creamer and other ingredients I needed and laid out a breakfast kabob bar so that we could build our own breakfast kabobs. I included fruit, marshmallows and donut holes from our favorite donut shop in town. I kept it pretty simple since it was just the two of us (and my kids), but you can get as creative as you want to with a kabob bar! The sky’s the limit! It was delicious and super easy. Of course, our brunch wouldn’t have been anything without our yummy mocha frappes!
Mocha Frappe Recipe:
1 cup ice
½ cup coffee (I recommend letting it cool before blending)
⅓ cup of Silk Vanilla Almond Creamer
1 Tablespoon sugar
3 Tablespoons your choice of fudge sauce
whipped cream (optional)
Directions: Blend it all up and top it with whipped cream if desired!
We ate inside and then went out on the back porch swing to talk while we watched the kids play. It was just beautiful and the perfect day for a get-together.
Brunch Tips:
Make the menu fit your guests. If there are only going to be a handful of people there, it’s okay to keep things simple and casual. However, if this is for a bridal shower, you may want to go ahead and make casseroles, scones, grits and the works. Plan the menu according to your number of guests and the atmosphere.
Pick a day with good weather. Who wants to go to a brunch in the rain? When I think of a brunch, I think of spring time. I think of warmer weather and being outdoors or on a patio.
Make it festive and feminine. I don’t know many men who attend brunches, so I could be wrong here, but typically they are for women and women love pretty. Make your tablescape appealing and feminine with fresh flowers and soft colored decor.
I loved using the Silk Almond Creamer in my mocha frappe recipe but it is also delicious in my every day cup of coffee. I love the nutty taste and it compliments my morning cup of joe perfectly! These creamers are a great fit for everyone because they are dairy, lactose, gluten, casein, egg and peanut free! There is absolutely no cholesterol, saturated fat, artificial colors or flavors and it was even verified by the Non-GMO Project’s product verification program. Sounds like a great choice to me!
Silk Almond Creamers come in 3 flavors: Vanilla, Hazelnut and Caramel.
Our little brunch was a success and even went on into the afternoon. Before we realized it, we had been talking (and eating) for hours, but it is exactly what we both needed!
Do you have any brunch tips to add? Which flavor of the new Silk Almond Creamer would you try?
