While we were in Jacksonville last week, Ryan and I got away for a couple of hours and went out for coffee and did a little shopping. When in Jacksonville, we always make a point to go to Nordstrom because we do not live near one. It’s always a lot of fun seeing the brands and things that I’ve been eyeing online, in person. I also like being able to try things on to see how they fit. This trip was a successful one and there are so many cute things in the store right now. I was on a major budget because I am already saving for the Anniversary Sale next month, but it was not a completely wasted trip. I tried on a few things in the Nordstrom dressing room that were too adorable not to snag. Now, on to the try-on!

It’s time for another top ten! May was a great month – largely due to the Nordstrom sale (that is still sort of happening). Things are still on major markdown and there are some great buys. If you haven’t had a chance to shop it yet, it’s definitely worth checking out. I love doing these round-ups because it helps me easily go back to see the types of things y’all are enjoying so that I can continue sharing things you like.
Top Ten from May:
I am so drawn to red, white and blue during the summer months, and in my opinion, there’s nothing wrong with being a little patriotic! White tops have been my obsession this year because they are easy and go with everything! I love a clean white top paired with denim shorts, overalls or a cute skirt. It just doesn’t get any better than that. So, I have noticed this trend in my wardrobe through the last few snapshots I’ve taken of my outfits and I thought I would share the looks in a post for y’all – you know, in case you’re into that sort of thing, too!
The Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale is one of my favorite sales of the year! Nordstrom has marked down tons of their spring summer styles up to 40% off! Some of my favorite brands like Madewell, Marc Fisher, Free People, Kate Spade, Levi’s and more are included! Me Easter dress from earlier this year is marked down and my favorite leather tote is also $53 off today, so snatch up these goodies if you have been eyeing them! You guys know how much I love shopping at the LOFT. They kill it with their new arrivals every single week! I have been loving all the bright colors for summer and this beautiful dress is no exception. If you are wanting to add a little color to your wardrobe this summer, this is a great option! I love how light and easy it is, but this colorful striped dress is under $50! Yes, you read that right!
It is finally feeling like summertime in Alabama! I absolutely love it. What I don’t love? It going from 50 degrees to 90 overnight…literally. BUT, I am thankful it is warm and staying warm because my kids will be out of school as of tomorrow afternoon, so I am seeing a bunch of pool days in our near future! Speaking of pool days, don’t forget to check out my post on teaching your children how to swim! It has a great resource with tons of tips! Anyone else teaching their kids to swim this summer? It is a daunting task. We tried to teach Hampton last summer, but he spent the majority of the season absolutely scared to death of the water. This is the year!
I get so excited when I find a good dupe for a designer bag that I love. I am not one to drop several hundred $$$ on a bag. I’d rather make an extra car payment than do that. So, when I found this dupe for the Clare V. bag that I have been loving for the last 2 years, I knew I had to have it. Straw bags are all the rage and this one is only $48 and by a GREAT (and one of my favorite) brands. That makes it a dream come true. When it’s a brand you love and trust and they make the perfect dupe? Snag it up! I had a similar straw tote bag from the same retailer last year and absolutely wore it to death. I still wear it occasionally and it held up great considering I wore it nearly every day during the spring and summer. Straw bags are such a great spring and summer staple and a big trend again this year. They are everywhere, but here are a few that won’t break the bank.
I look forward to this Shopbop sale every year! It is so good because there are so many great brands (that never go on sale) included. For example, Tory Burch Miller Sandals, Hunter Boots, the holy grail mom jeans, and more: All. On. Sale! So, if you have been wanting to stock up on some Madewell Tees or splurge on some cute espadrilles, now is a great time to buy. Everything is 20% off unless you spend $500, then you get 25% off with code EVENT18! Also, if you have Amazon Prime, you will love this sale because Shopbop is owned by Amazon and you get prime shipping! It’s so good, y’all!
After recently talking to my cousin and a couple of friends, I have realized how much of a struggle it is to find good, mom friendly swimsuits these days. So many swimsuits that popular retailers are making are not padded or offer little to no support. They are also very unflattering or cut funny and definitely not designed for a postpartum or “mom-bod”. Not that a “mom-bod” is a bad thing, but I think we can all agree that our bodies don’t ever really go back to how they were before. Not completely, anyway. They are forever changed – and for a good reason. You housed and nourished a human being for 9 months. That is no small feat.
Hey guys! Well, it’s official! Another year has come and gone. I turned twenty-nine, yesterday! The last year of my twenties, and I intend to make it a good one! I celebrated in my favorite new Free People dress! I have held out all spring and summer for this beauty and finally took the plunge and bought it! I’m so glad I did because it is absolutely beautiful. It does run a little big (I’m wearing an XS) so size down one size. It is so comfortable and great for weddings, church or – birthdays!
