In high school and college, I began watching the Gilmore Girls. I quickly grew obsessed  with the show (probably an unhealthy way). My mom bought me all 7 seasons for Christmas the year it came out and I have watched it religiously ever since. To this day it is my favorite show. It is written so impeccably…I can’t even. Amy and Daniel Palladino are geniuses. I think my family is a little annoyed with my constant need to quote or relate everything to the show, so I am going to attempt and get it out of my system with this post. Here are a few (very very few) of my favorite quotes from some of my favorite Gilmore Girls episodes:

1. Lorelai: I managed to find Uno and Checkers, and Battleship and most of the pieces of Candyland. Which I figure, we can mix together to create a fabulous new game, Candyship Battleland. War never tasted so good!

2. Lorelai: My life stinks. Hey, let’s look into each other’s eyes and say “I wish I were you” at exactly the same time — maybe we’ll pull a “Freaky Friday.”

3. Lorelai: Why bother even calling it “Final Destination 3.” At that point just call it now you’re really really really dead!

4.Taylor: Late again, are we?
Lorelai: Yes, I hope I’m not pregnant!

5. Lorelai: I need coffee in an IV.

6. Do you like coffee? Lorelai: Only with my oxygen.

7. In Omnia Paratus (Ready for Anything)

8. Lorelai: Hate early. Must kill early.

9. Luke: God, that’s terrible. It’s like drinking a My Little Pony.

And my personal favorite:

10. Lorelai I mean, I’d like to have a good illness, something different, impressive. Just once I’d like to be able to say: Yeah, I’m not feeling so good, my leg is haunted.

Did you watch Gilmore Girls? What is your favorite GG quote?

I saw this sweatshirt on another blog and I HAD to buy it. You know how obsessed I am with Gilmore Girls, right? I’m constantly quoting the show, much to my husbands dismay and entertainment. I own all seven seasons and watch it all the time. When I spotted this sweat shirt, I had to have it. It wasn’t a question. So, I bought it. I shared a selfie (my first ever, I’m pretty sure) and received a bit of feedback on it, so I figured I’d share the deets with you!

Please excuse my “I’m cleaning the house for another showing” hair do.
Sweatshirt: Arsenic and Lace
Believe me when I say, I’d rather be watching Gilmore Girls than….anything else. Other than maybe cuddling my boys! “Oy with the poodles already.” Happy Hump Day!

Someday Someday, Maybe by Lauren Graham
Ballantine Books, 2013

First Line: “Begin whenever you’re ready,” comes the voice from the back of the house.

Synopsis from GoodreadsFranny Banks is a struggling actress in New York City, with just six months left of the three year deadline she gave herself to succeed. But so far, all she has to show for her efforts is a single line in an ad for ugly Christmas sweaters and a degrading waitressing job. She lives in Brooklyn with two roommates-Jane, her best friend from college, and Dan, a sci-fi writer, who is very definitely not boyfriend material-and is struggling with her feelings for a suspiciously charming guy in her acting class, all while trying to find a hair-product cocktail that actually works.

Meanwhile, she dreams of doing “important” work, but only ever seems to get auditions for dishwashing liquid and peanut butter commercials. It’s hard to tell if she’ll run out of time or money first, but either way, failure would mean facing the fact that she has absolutely no skills to make it in the real world. Her father wants her to come home and teach, her agent won’t call her back, and her classmate Penelope, who seems supportive, might just turn out to be her toughest competition yet.

Someday, Someday, Maybe is a funny and charming debut about finding yourself, finding love, and, most difficult of all, finding an acting job.

My Thoughts: Lauren Graham is the star actress from Gilmore Girls and Parenthood. I have not seen Parenthood, but I am a Gilmore fanatic. I own all 7 seasons and can quote every episode. Sad, but true. Needless to say, I was pretty excited when I found out she had written her first novel. I’ve since learned that she is writing her second which makes me ecstatic.

Her personality and humor are very evident throughout the book. It made me laugh, but it was also a very interesting book. The story line is different than anything I’ve read before which made it exciting. Franny Banks, the main character reminded me so much of her character in Gilmore Girls. Franny is a struggling actress trying to make it in New York. She’s quick, and driven. She is focused but there is also a level of romance that she lets creep in.

I thoroughly enjoyed her first novel. I feel like it will be a big hit not only to her fans, but all fiction readers. I gave this book 4 1/2 stars out of 5 only because I only give books a 5 that were absolutely exceptional. I can’t wait for the second one, although I’m sure it will be a while before it comes out. I definitely recommend it to all you chick-lit/ fiction readers.
