Visit Jackson: The City With Soul

December 21, 2017

One thing on my list of goals for the new year is to travel with Ryan a good bit more. He travels about two or three times a month and gets to see the coolest places. Jackson Mississippi has been named the “City with Soul” for a reason. This up and coming city is a great destination for anyone who enjoys experiencing different cultures, music, food, arts and more! The city was actually built on top of one of the oldest volcanos. From old distilleries to blues clubs, there is something for everyone!

If you are looking for somewhere to travel in the south, this city with soul is a must travel destination to add to your list! If you want to know more, check out this docu-series all about Jackson! It is so informative about the history and social scenes. Have you ever heard of Jackson State’s Sonic Boom? If you aren’t sure what I’m talking about, check it out here! There is truly something for everyone and lots of fun to be had! Like any college town, Jackson has one of the best tailgating experiences.

Jackson’s gospel roots run deep! I loved listening to all the singing in episode 2, here! If you like Bar-Be-Que, the Big Apple Inn is a must! It has my mouth watering for some good BBQ! If you are more of a history buff (like my husband) you must check out the Smith Robertson Museum. Jackson is so full of history and rick in culture. Montgomery, Alabama (where I live) is also full of civil rights history as you all know. So, I would love to visit Jackson and learn about some of the history that took place there as well. Check out the video here!

Jackson prides itself on being an affordable and exciting up-and-coming city that is extremely diverse! Jackson is on our list of places to travel because I am a foodie and Ryan is a history buff, so I feel like it is  a place we need to visit. Traveling together is one of our goals for the new year and we intend to make it happen! We love traveling and have not done it as much since having kids, but we are working to change that and make it a priority again. You can check out more on Jackson, Mississippi here!
