This past week I had the rare opportunity to go with Ryan on one of his business trips. It was a very spontaneous decision for me to go. It was a really quick little road trip (only one night) but it was so nice to get away for a little while and recharge. We went to Biloxi, Mississippi and while Ryan has been several times, it was my first time to visit. Ryan’s parent’s kept the kids for us and we were able to enjoy conversations that didn’t involve “how dirty is this sippy cup” or “when did they have a snack.” I think we both really needed that and it did us a lot of good. A few hours into our trip I started missing the kids, but I guess that’s what happens when they are your life, right? I almost don’t know what to do with myself when I’m away from them anymore.
Biloxi was a very interesting city. For example, as soon as I walked into the restaurant where we ate dinner, they asked if I wanted to sit in the smoking or non-smoking section. Umm…flashback to the 2000s! I was so taken back because I have not been asked that in years. Most everyone goes to Biloxi to gamble at their famous casinos, but while we did stay at the Beau Rivage, we did not gamble. I only saw the tables from a distance. It was a beautiful hotel and a really nice place to stay. Definitely interesting, too!
It was a quick trip, but one that we both really needed. It made me wish we could do it more often. But by the time we got home, I was so excited to see the kids!
Where did you go on your last road trip?
