We love to travel as a family, but I’d be lying if I told you there wasn’t a little part of me that worries every time we get in the car to drive for an extended period of time. If you’re a mom, you probably have at least one horror story of something crazy happening on a vacation. We have had several crazy things happen to us over the last few years, but the good far outweighs the bad. Taking our babies on a road trip is something I will always look forward to because we always make many memories.
Here are a few tips for making your road trip a little bit smoother when traveling with a baby:
- Pack lots of snacks
- Pack toys and games for the kids
- Bring a coloring book
- Have your iPhone kid’s apps prepared for a meltdown moment
- Plan for plenty of stops and make them every few hours so the kids can get out and stretch their legs.
We have spent the last few days in Jacksonville and we spent 7 hours on the road traveling there. My kids did surprisingly well, but I think it was because I really thought everything out this time. I planned ahead and had plenty of activities at my disposal. Of course, it also helps planning your road trips around nap time. Both of my kids slept for nearly 2 hours which was really nice!
On our way to the zoo on Friday, I stopped by Public to grab a few more snacks so that we wouldn’t have to spend an ungodly amount on food at the zoo. I saw the coupon for these new Betty Crocker Sweet Rewards bars and was totally intrigued. I had a sweet tooth and thought, why not? So, I grabbed the chocolate chip cookie bars and Butterscotch blondie bars and we enjoyed these sweet treats in the shade of the cute little sweet shop.

I see a lot of family cars here have small TV installed near the back seat which plays Cartoon Network continuously to occupy the children imagination during long drives… ๐
Logan Cantrell says
That would be so nice to have sometimes… haha

You can never prepare enough! Such a sweet boy. Did not know of this new yummy – thanks for sharing. I was asking my kids today – “Has your daddy ever gotten you guys ready to go anywhere? The both of you before?!” — Nope was the answer.
