A Car Emergency Kit For Baby

March 25, 2016

We’ve all been in sticky situations where we were out running errands and our baby has a blowout and we realize we have no extra outfit with us or worse – we are out of diapers. I’ve been there more than once. In fact, on our way home from Jacksonville a few weeks ago, Sophie had been crying and crying and I thought she was just fighting sleep because I had JUST changed her diaper. It couldn’t be that. Right? Wrong. She had a blowout and it was all over her outfit and her car seat. I had nothing with me to clean it up with so we had to make a stop at the next exit and stop at a gas station to clean it up the best we could. I felt so bad that I had ignored her screaming and played it off on something else.

After I had Hampton, I was constantly leaving the house and forgetting to repack his diaper bag. I would find myself without diapers, snacks or sippy cups, etc. Eventually, it hit me that I should keep a basket in our car with extras of everything in his diaper bag just in case I found myself in this situation. I forgot to keep this up after Sophie was born, but after that terrible car trip, I learned my lesson and now have this basket in my car again. I call it my emergency car kit for baby.

Car Emergency Kit for Baby

What you need to create your car emergency kit:

Basket

Diapers

Wipes

Bottles/Sippy Cups

Snacks

Toys

Spare Outfit

Pacifier

Bib

Burp Cloth

Medications

Blanket or Swaddle

Extra Formula

Hughes at Walmart

I ran to Walmart to stock up on extra diapers and wipes for these baskets (although these are also available online). I love using Huggies® Little Snugglers diapers and Huggies® Natural Care wipes because they deliver the best skin care solution for my sweet baby for the great value of Walmart. You can’t beat it. Huggies brand diapers have always fit my baby girl so well and they have definitely been our brand of choice for her.Huggies® Little Snugglers are designed to help keep baby’s skin healthy and clean. Their GentleAbsorb liner and Wetness Indicator are also great for keeping baby happy while helping mommy out by letting us know when it is time for a change! They even include an umbilical cord cut-out in preemie and newborn sizes to protect baby’s healing belly-buttons.

Emergency Car Kit

Huggies® Natural Care wipes have been my go-to for baby wipes because I love the Tripleclean layers and texture that helps mom to get their baby extra clean while also being gentle enough for babies with sensitive skin.

Hughes Little Snugglers

This basket has already been so handy and useful to me because it is rare that I don’t forget at least one thing when we leave the house. It is so nice to have a back up and makes me feel better about leaving the house in a hurry.

Baby Shower Gift

This basket would also make a wonderful baby gift for a friend. I would have loved to receive this as a gift when I was pregnant with my babies. It is something a new mom will actually use and be very thankful for. I put together a spare basket when I was freshening mine up the other day just so I would have a baby gift on hand. So many friends of mine have just had babies or are expecting them. In fact, 3 of my cousins are having 4 babies this year alone. My family keeps growing and growing and I love it! This might just be my new go-to for baby gifts!

Have you tried Huggies® Little Snugglers and Huggies® Natural Care wipes? What is your go-to baby shower gift?

Such good tips for mamas here! I don’t have any children of my own, but I’m passing this along to a friend who is expecting 🙂

So very important! We have a bin that we keep in our car filled with similar items (plus some stuff for the older two). Too often I have forgotten my diaper bag…

I have three children and I would have loved this as a gift for any of them. There have been times when I’ve left sippy cups at home and had to buy new ones or thought I had diapers on me and didn’t. Great idea, thanks for sharing! [client]

The dolls don’t have any little one’s yet but one day when we do this will come in handy. We have little survival kits like this but with stuff for ourselves. Will be fun to see this evolve for ourselves! Thanks for sharing. Love the flower finish on the basket!

Brilliant idea. I could have used this when my nephew had a blowout at brunch. To say that it was disgusting is an understatement. My sister and I couldn’t eat our omelets and I never went back to the restaurant.

When my kids were babies, I had a basket of stuff everywhere. Car, upstairs, downstairs, my moms etc. Life saver.

Love the list you included because especially for new mom’s it’s not easy to know what you’re even going to need to have on hand. I would also keep a basket like this at other places you go frequently…like grandma’s house!

Great idea! While I don’t have babies – there is a lot to be taken from here. It is smart to have supplies in the car – emergencies do happen!

I love this idea. If we had a car or drove I’d for sure be doing this. Luckily I make sure I keep extras in my purse just in case, because I’m always forgetting my diaper bags!

THis is such a great idea. You just can’t fit it all in a diaper bag. Especially when you have multiple children. You should link up at Family Joy Blog Link Up Party this week. The party is open until Wednesday at 12PM MST. Check it out http://thinking-outside-the-pot.com/?p=2343

I remember those days of blowouts…they weren’t too long ago and I definitely DON’T miss them! This is a great list because as moms, we all get a little absent minded at times (most likely from the lack of sleep)! Thanks so much for sharing with us at Share The Wealth Sunday! xoxo

My diaper bag is my car emergency kit. I hate lugging the heavy diaper bag everywhere and tend to leave it in the car 🙂
