Hampton’s Halloween // Mama Mondays

November 10, 2014

I can’t believe I still haven’t shared Hampton’s Halloween on the blog! Oops. Well, better late than never, right? I put a picture on Instagram, so if you follow me there, you at least got a glimpse of him in his koala cuteness.

Funny story: Hampton was supposed to be Thing 1 for Halloween since we already had everything for the costume from his party. The thing is, he refused to wear his blue hair and therefore looked like a kid in a t-shirt. That just wasn’t okay. He definitely needed a cute little furry costume. We ran to Party City the night of our Trunk-or-Treat at church (because I’m a new procrastinator aka new mom) and the line literally wrapped around the building. We definitely did not have time to stand in that check out line. We left kind of disappointed when I spotted TJ Maxx next door. I convinced Ryan to run in there with me really quick just to see if they had anything. They had one boy costume in Hampton’s size and it was half the price of all those Party City costumes. That was it. So without further ado, I give you our little koala bear:

1 and 2 – posing for mommy // 3 trick or treating at his great-grandmother’s house // 4 trunk-or-treat at church

Mama Mondays Link Up

November 3, 2014

Did you hear our big news? If not, you can read about it here. I am still a little bit in disbelief. I’m not sure why. I guess with Hampton, we tried really hard for over 9 months (and 3 rounds of clomid). With this one, it just happened. No planning. Just poof. Hello two pink lines and a very definite “pregnant.” Other than a little sickness here and there, I haven’t felt a bit pregnant. No cravings, nothing yet. This has been so different than our first pregnancy. Maybe because I’m so busy with Hamp? Anyway, I am definitely ready to feel our little angel move and find out the gender! We are still about 4 weeks away from that, but I am so looking forward to it! Can you imagine Hampton as a big brother? I just can’t yet, but he is.

Enough rambling. I will definitely start bump dates soon! I just don’t have a whole lot to report yet, other than excitement! 🙂

Hampton’s First Birthday Party

October 20, 2014

First Birthday
Hampton’s first birthday party was wonderful! On Saturday we celebrated my baby boy and we were so blessed by so many family members and friends who came to share in our joy. We picked pumpkins, did a pumpkin craft, played games, bobbed for apples, dressed in our best Halloween costumes and of course, ate lots of cake. This fall festival theme party was definitely a hit in my book.

Hamp really enjoyed his first bite of sugar and indulged in his slice of cake. He was one happy baby. His birthday is actually not until Friday, so I’m enjoying these last few days of my eleven month old before he begins his second year. This year has been so incredible. God blessed us beyond words with this amazing baby boy. He makes us smile and laugh every day. He has been such a blessing to so many people and he has the sweetest temperament. I couldn’t be more proud of him. Happy (almost) Birthday, our sweet little angel!

Hi mamas! We are officially 5 days from Hampton’s first birthday party (insert panicked scream here). I got so much done over the weekend, but of course my mind is racing and I keep remembering different things I wanted to do but don’t have time for now. Then there is all of the last minute details that must get done this week. I am trying to keep the food very simple so that I’m not super stressed over it, but I have seen so many cutesy “Halloween bark” or “Scarecrow mix” (thank you, Pinterest) that I would also love to make if I have time. Who knows how this will end up! haha On the plus side, all decorations are up and look fantastic! That’s something, right? Here’s to hoping that this party turns out perfect for my little man!

Emotionally, I have definitely broken down twice this week. Hampton has started walking all over the place. He has been taking steps for a while but now he walks across the entire room before he falls. Saturday he walked across the room and looked up at me like he was so excited and proud of himself. Of course I lost it. My baby is growing up and it happened in the blink of an eye. This first year flew by faster than I was prepared for.

Did you miss my post about the pumpkin patch and Hampton’s first zoo trip?

Hampton is 11 Months / Mama Mondays

September 22, 2014

My baby will be eleven months old on Wednesday. ELEVEN! Do you know what comes after 11? I can’t even…

Hampton,

This month you have started waving. A lot. At everything. You have also really found your voice and have started screaming when you play. It makes mommy jump a lot. You still love Cat in the Hat and Thomas the Train. You dance every time the Gilmore Girls theme song comes on which make mommy so proud. You love to read…and eat your books. You are STILL cutting those same 2 bottom teeth and you got your first top tooth in this past week. You tried turkey, cucumbers and thanks to Pops, french fries, for the first time this month. You are getting better about eating your vegetables. Yay! You visited Me Me’s house for the first time and loved it! You traveled so well on the long drive. You are wearing size 12 month clothes and size 3 diapers. You have started pulling out all of the trash out of the trash can and throwing all of your toys in the toilet. That has been fun. You have taken a step a few times, but don’t quite have enough balance yet. You have the biggest smile that lights up an entire room and you are such a joy and blessing to our family.

I love you, angel!

-Mommy

Mama Mondays // Baby Lead Weaning

September 8, 2014

baby_lead_weaning

Welcome to our second week of Mama Mondays! Link up all of your mama related posts and grab our button or link back to us!

Has anyone tried baby lead weaning? I heard about it for the first time when Hampton was around 6 months old. I decided to try it out. He only has 2 teeth, but his doctor said that because his gums are so hard, he would be fine to chew soft foods. So far, Hampton is doing really well with fruits, toast, and green beans. Carrots on the other hand… yikes. Let’s just say Pippa eats her fair share of carrots.

Have you tried BLW? What BLW foods have been successful for your baby?

Mama Monday’s #1 // Labor Day

September 1, 2014

Happy Labor Day!! I love a long holiday weekend! To me, this weekend means family, food, beach time, laughter, and another one of Hampton’s firsts. I have absolutely loved celebrating his firsts this year. First time going to a restaurant (and then his first time at each (named) restaurant), His first Sunday at church, his first laugh, his first Easter, etc. It has been quite a year watching him grow and change so much. I hope you are all enjoying your day celebrating with your loved ones and most importantly – relax.

I’m so excited to start Mama Monday’s with Leslyn! She came to me with this idea a couple of weeks a and I loved it! I am a big fan of a place where mothers can come together to support one another in the happy times and difficult moments associated with parenting.

If you’re new around here, my name is Logan and I have a 10 month old, Hampton. You can read more about me here and more about him here.

I wanted to start off the first week with a funny/slightly terrifying story. I am extremely grossed out by roaches. I’m not afraid of them, but they are so disgusting to me that I feel dirty even being in a room with one. I just can’t deal. So one day, Ryan left to go to a lunch meeting and about 5 minutes after he left, I realized I had left my camera outside earlier from where Ryan was taking pics of one of my outfits. I went out onto the porch to grab it and when I turned around, I saw Hampton sitting just outside of the door chomping down on something. Just as soon as I looked at him, he all of a sudden got a terrified expression on his face and screamed in a way I had never heard him scream before. He freaked out. I ran to him and grabbed him up, running inside, and then I saw it. He had some how put a live roach in his mouth. Live, people.

That thing was going crazy in his tiny little mouth and it was scaring him. I forced his mouth open and saw the roach go down his throat. Hampton started choking and when he coughed it up, I was able to reach in and grab the roach and slung him on the floor all while screaming and crying myself because I was petrified. My son was choking. He was choking on the one thing I vowed never to touch.

It’s amazing what you will do for your kids. Hampton got a really good scrub down and I brushed his mouth/gums/teeth like crazy. I will never forget that day because it was one of my most terrifying experiences as a parent thus far. Of course, I can look back at it now and laugh, but at the time, it was horrible.

Has your child ever eaten something that repulsed you? What is a crazy experience you’ve had with your baby?

It’s time to link up your mama post of the week! Grab our button or link back to our blogs. I can’t wait to read all of your stories!

Mama Monday’s

August 25, 2014

I am so so excited to announce that I am partnering up with Leslyn for a new weekly link-up called Mama Monday’s where moms can come and share a funny story, ask for advice, give advice, cry, laugh, and support other moms. This is a place where you can come link up your favorite pictures of your little ones or share about the daily struggles you go through as a mom. Being a mom can be so hard sometimes, but I think we can all agree that it is more than worth it and that the positive moments far outweigh the tough ones.

I can’t wait to meet you all back here next Monday (September 1st) and share a story I’ve been really excited to share with you. I can’t wait to read all of your posts! Bring it on, Mamas!
