23 Books To Read In 2023

January 31, 2023

After doing a lot of digging and reading over the last month, I’m excited to finally post my 2023 book list! I tried to include novels in a variety of genres and threw in some memoirs as well as a classic (always). As you can see, April is going to be a very expensive month for me. So many great books are releasing that month- just in time for spring/summer reading! Let me know in the comments which books you are looking forward to devouring this year!

Sam by Allegra Goodman – This coming of age novel is a short and sweet read. I’m currently about halfway through this one and enjoying it so far.

Spare by Prince Harry – I love catching up on the royal family and this memoir did not disappoint. I was pleasantly surprised that Harry mostly talked about his childhood and personal experiences in the military. Meghan Markle didn’t come into the book until probably 3/4 of the way in.

Really Good, Actually by Monica Heisey – I added this one to my TBR list so fast!

Becoming Free Indeed by Jinger Duggar Vuolo – This memoir releases today! I am really excited to read Jinger’s experience in her religion and growing up in the Duggar family.

Maame by Jessica George – I’ve seen this book everywhere, so I had to add it to my personal TBR list!

Someone Else’s Shoes by Jojo Moyes (Feb 7th) I’ve read several Jojo Moyes books and none of them disappointed. I’m excited for this one to come out soon!

The Last Tale of the Flower Bride by Roshani Chokshi (February 14th) – I’m not a huge fan of fantasy, but this one sounds like it has potential. I’m a sucker for a description that relates a book to fairytales. Sold.

Pineapple Street by Jenny Jackson (March 7th) – This is one I am personally really excited about! It’s got first loves, family drama and lots of wit!

The Kingdom of Prep: The Inside Story of the Rise and (Near) Fall of J.Crew by Maggie Bullock (March 7th) – If you are remotely interested in American fashion, this one is a must-read!

The Quarantine Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot (March 28th) – What 80’s/90’s babies were not obsessed with Princess Diaries? I’m excited to read the newest in the series.

Homecoming by Kate Morton (April 4th) – Kate Morton is one of my all-time favorite authors! I am beyond excited for her new novel because it has been a few years since her last one. If you enjoy historical fiction mixed with a little mystery, you will love her novels.

Romantic Comedy by Curtis Sittenfeld (April 4th) – The title hooked me and then after reading the description, I think this is the rom-com we all need right now.

A Living Remedy by Nicole Chung (April 4th) – Chung dives into the middle class life she thought she knew and grief in this highly anticipated memoir.

Happy Place by Emily Henry (April 25th) – Emily Henry is quickly becoming one of my favorites. I loved Beach Read last year and am ecstatic for the release of this one!

The Half Moon by Mary Beth Keane (May 2nd) – I don’t know a lot about this one, but the synopsis had me hooked!

Girls and Their Horses by Eliza Jane Brazier (June 6th) – For the thriller and mystery lovers, this sound like the perfect summer vacation novel.

The Five-Star Weekend by Elin Hilderbrand (June 13th) – I’m so excited that Elin Hilderbrand is coming out with another new novel just in time for beach season!

The Summer Skies by Jenny Colgan (July 11h) – Jenny Colgan is the queen of light-hearted sweet novels! If you need a light read, this will be perfect.

Books to catch up on:

I rated these 5 stars last year and wanted to include them in my list. They are definitely worth going back and catching up on.

Under the Magnolias by T.I. Lowe – This coming of age tale was so enjoyable and refreshingly clean.

Meant to Be by Emily Giffin – This story is heavily influenced by the Kennedys and I absolutely loved it!

Golden Girl by Elin Hilderbrand – I couldn’t put this one down! It was such an incredible story.

A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman – I am currently a little over halfway through this book and am really enjoying it so far! It is now a major motion picture starring Tom Hanks!

Y’all know I love to end my lists with a classic and this year’s choice is Little Women because Sophie and I are reading it together! I hope you will join us in diving in this classic again (or for the first time).

Which books are you looking forward to reading the most?

20 Books to Read in 2020

January 6, 2020

Happy new year, y’all! I just typed out “2020” and it hit me that I am getting on up there in age. I mean I remember – like REALLY remember – the millennium and what a big deal it all was. That was 20 years ago. Holy cow. Anyways… This is always one of my favorite posts to write every year (and your’s, too). I am a sucker for a good book list and have a growing list of books that I want to read in my notes on my phone. One of my favorite things to do is to research new books that are coming out in the new year to add to that growing list. Here are 20 books to read in 2020.

Books to Read:

Clothes and Other Things That Matter by Alexandra Shulman – If you enjoy non-fiction or are into fashion, this book is for you! Written by the former editor of British vogue, this book explores the meaning of clothes and why/how we wear them. I am so excited to read this one! I’ll link it as soon as I can.

American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins – This is already being talked about as a new American Classic. Buy it here.

Darling Rose Gold by Stephanie Wrobel – I am not sure if I want to read this one yet or not, but I have seen it everywhere. It is about a troubled mother-daughter relationship and has a dark context. I do not normally read things like this, but it is supposed to be really good if you are into this sort of novel. Buy it here.

A Hundred Suns by Karin Tanable – If you love historical fiction, this one is for you! It comes out in April. Preorder it here.

All The Ways We Said Goodbye by Beatriz Williams, Lauren Willig and Karen White – yes, you read that right. Three authors, one novel! This one is set in Paris and about three generations of women living at different times in the same area and how their lives collide. I am very excited to read this one! It comes out on the 14th! Buy it here.

The Upside of Being Down by Jen Gotchu – this non-fiction book is by the founder of ban.do. It is all about how her struggles with mental illness led to her greatest successes in work and life. Buy it here.

Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng – I just started this one, myself. It came out last year, but it has amazing reviews and I’ve had it recommended to me by many friends in my personal life as well. I’m excited to dive into it more. Buy it here.

It Started With A Secret by Jill Mansell – This looks like the perfect beach read for the summer! Preorder it here.

Meg and Jo by Virginia Kantra – Who likes Chick lit? This is a sweet story about four sisters coming together during their mother’s illness. It came out last month. Buy it here.

The Giver of the Stars by Jojo Moyes – I have read several Jojo novels and absolutely loved every single one. I am excited for this new release. Buy it here.

Miracle Creek by Angie Kim – When I heard about this being similar to Liane Moriarty’s books, I was sold. I already have it sitting in my Amazon cart as we speak. I love a good mystery novel. Buy it here.

Risen Motherhood by Emily Jensen and Laura Wifler – One of you recommended this to me on Instagram and I have really enjoyed it over the last few months. It is a good one to gift to a sister or friend as well as for yourself to read. It is so encouraging to mothers. Buy it here.

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins – This is an anticipated novel by many. This book takes place before the Hunger Games, so if you were into the trilogy, this is a must read this year! Buy it here.

The Two Lives of Lydia Bird by Josie Silver – Another great Chick lit option! Buy it here.

All Adults Here by Emma Straub – A warm and funny novel all about the messiness of a big family. Buy it here.

The Lies That Bind by Emily Giffin – I have read every single Emily Giffin book and absolutely love novels. I am really looking forward to reading this one this summer on a beach somewhere. Preorder it here.

Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid – This novel is centered around race and privilege and the story sounds like one I won’t be able to put down. It is also on Reese’s book club list this year and just released last week! Buy it here.

Red At The Bone by Jacqueline Woodson – This book is less than 200 pages but covers so much in this short novel. It is an instant bestseller and on Oprah’s book list! Buy it here.

And just like every year, I am ending with a classic, except because two of my all-time favorite classic novels are being made into movies this year, I am including them both. Make sure to read Emma by Jane Austen and The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett before they hit the big screen!

Best New Books To Read This Fall

October 15, 2018

Over the last few weeks, I’ve been in search for the best new books to read this fall! I’m so excited about every single one of these that have recently released or will be over the next couple of weeks! These are some of my very favorite authors and I am probably most excited to read  Kate Morton’s newest book that just came out last week! I got it in the mail over the weekend and am so excited to dive in as she is by far one of my favorite authors. I’ve read all of her books and they are all amazing and leave me stunned every time. She is amazing at fooling you and then fooling you again until you are so confused as to who the villain is until the end. It is truly fun and exciting to read a book by her.

Many of these are based on real people or they are spinoffs from older classics and you guys know how I love my classics! Liane Moriarty also has a book coming out in a couple of weeks that I am so excited to read. She is another favorite of mine (who wrote What Alice Forgot).

18 Books You Should Read 2018

January 8, 2018

This continues to be one of my favorite posts to write every year and one of my top-performing posts as well, which means you guys love it, too! That makes me so happy and makes it that much more fun to put together! Last year I did not have a lot of time to read. If I’m being honest, I only finished one book all year. Pathetic. So, this year, I have already cracked the books, done my research and put together this list of books you simply must read this year! Cheers to reading ALL the books in 2018!

First up…

I just started First Comes Love by Emily Giffin. It is so good so far and I am falling in love with the characters. I started it last year, but life and kids happened, so I put it down and never picked it back up. I started it again over the weekend and I love it! So, I am adding it to my list. She is, after all, one of my favorite authors.

17 Books To Read in 2017

January 18, 2017

I think this is one of my favorite posts of the year. Why? Well, I LOVE to read. It has always been my favorite pass time. Getting lost in a good book is a great escape from the hustle and bustle of the every day. After a lot of perusing the new books releasing this year, I have pulled out the ones I am most looking forward to reading! Also, a few old titles to catch up on if you haven’t read them yet.

I’ll be honest, when I was looking at last year’s post: 16 Books to Read in 2016, I realized I didn’t even read half of the titles I had planned on. Of course, we also weren’t exactly planning on having another baby this past year, either. Life sure is funny that way. This year, maybe I will have more time to read and travel. I can normally finish a book when we are road tripping some place and I am planning to travel a good bit more with our family this year.
