Hampton,
Today, you are five years old. I can not believe how fast the time has flown. It seems like just yesterday your dad and I were incredibly nervous checking into that hospital room getting ready to become parents for the first time. We are so incredibly proud of the little boy your are becoming. You put others first, you are so loving and still love to snuggle (please do not stop) and you have the kindest heart. You love the Lord and talk about Jesus every day. You are my curious child. You ask thousands of questions a day and at times it can be frustrating, but you have to know everything about everything. You also remember every detail. You are so smart and are doing so well in preschool. Can you believe we will be sending you off to kindergarten in just a few more months?
Some of your favorite things are going to church, spiderman, legos, The Greatest Showman and helping me sing to and rock Weston at night. You love Chick fil’ A, and taco night. You love your sweet friends at church and school.
One of my proudest moments of you recently was when you talked to a girl on the playground who was having a hard time at school. She has struggled making friends and you sought her out and played with her that day. I can’t tell you how that warmed my heart. You are truly a blessing to so many.
You are smart like your daddy and so analytical. You are a typical first-born – always making sure everyone stays in line, but you are also tenderhearted and so incredibly patient with your siblings. Currently, you are most excited about a spiderman toy that you may or may not be getting for your birthday, and meeting our new baby in April. You talk about this sweet baby every day and love to tell me how big my tummy is getting (thanks, kid ;)).
Most of all, I want you to know that mommy and daddy are so proud of you. We love you so much and are incredibly proud and humbled by the person you are becoming. We talked last night about really being intentional with you and your siblings when we realized we have thirteen more years with you before you go off to college. If those thirteen years go by as fast as these five have, my heart might explode. I love you my sweet angel!
Happy 5th Birthday, Hammy!
