Someone recently asked me how I deal with stress. I had to really think about it, because I try really hard not to focus on negative things. Of course, I am a woman and I think too much about things from time to time, but for the most part, I just stay busy. I’m a wife, mom and blogger, so it is not too hard to stay busy. I feel like I am always working on something. When I’m really feeling stressed though, I go for a jog, watch a movie or dive into a good novel. I have always loved getting lost in a good story. It is such an awesome (and healthy) escape. Lately though, I haven’t had a lot of time to devote to my growing stack of books.
I remember back when I started this blog, long before kids, I created it to write about our lives as newlyweds and to post book reviews. Back then I was easily reading a book a week. Sometimes more than that. In between work, I would take breaks to read a few pages or I’d read an hour before bed every night and it was just easy to devote time to that because I had the time.
I made a pledge to read 24 books this year. So far, I have read 2 and started a 3rd. I’m already 2 books behind schedule and honestly don’t know if I will be able to catch up. Maybe during the summer when we are traveling? I miss reading, but lately it has been so tough to do anything extra. I feel pretty stretched thin by bedtime and normally still have quite a bit of work to get done. It’s not always doable, but I am really hoping to make it happen this year. I’m determined to meet my goal.
I receivedย this teeย (c/o) from Ilolatees on Esty and loved it! Who doesn’t love a good graphic tee? Especially when it has two of my favorite things on it. I am living on coffee right now and so I felt like it was pretty appropriate for me and my life. I love graphic tees because you can dress them up or down and they are super comfortable and fit my mom-on-the-go lifestyle. I wore it for the first time earlier this week and it was warm outside so we spent a little time outdoors and then I was able to easily transform it into a night-time look by just changing out the accessories!
You look adorable in this outfit!
Love the jacket, shoes and of course the purse, because I can never have to many purses.
Such a cute outfit – I really like that tee! I completely understand not having much time to read, as much as I really enjoy reading, there just doesn’t ever seem to be enough time in the day.
I love those shoes! So cute! I made a monthly book goal too, but mine was for different categories, and it’s becoming pretty lopsided – I need more intellectual/self improvement reads and less fiction. ๐
Very cute shirt ๐ I hope you reach your goal! I miss reading also and I am really trying to get to three books by the end of March. I have a blog post planned for it, so maybe that will give me some motivation ๐
I need that shirt in my life!
I love your pledge of reading 24 books this year. I’m totally stealing this idea! Also, love this shirt!

24 books?!?! Oh my gosh you are my hero!! Love this look! Those pink shoes are cute!!
I totally feel you on the no time for reading – I used to read 30-50 books a year, but lately I just can’t seem to finish one! I set a goal of 12 for this year since I thought it’d be more realistic…. so far I’ve started 2 and finished none….
love that shirt!!!
I too planned/hoped/dreamed of reading 24 books this year. It sounded like such a do-able proposal. 2 a month doesn’t sound crazy. But I’ve only read 2 so far. Where does all the time go? – Katy
This outfit is too cute! I really love your lace ups!
<3 Give me a good cup of coffee, and a book and I'm a happy person
A Saturday morning spent with coffee and a book is one of my favorite things ever! This outfit is SO cute! I have the same shoes and am obsessed!

Omg loving that shirt!!! Totally something I would wear! Need it in my life!
For starters I love that shirt! I love that you showed the look two different ways by changing the shoes, it really gave two completely different vibes.
Love those shoes! I agree about stress. I’ve been so stressed lately, so I’ve been focusing on the positives and doing what I love with my free time. And as for reading – I love reading, so when I’m pressed for time, I often listen to audio books in the car or while I’m baking/cooking ๐
