The word monochrome itself refers to black and white photographs, but I have always been a huge fan of black white and gray clothing. Just take a peak into my closet! Most of my wardrobe consists of earth tones and monochrome with a few flairs of color mixed in. It has been really cold here the last couple of days. In fact, I couldn’t keep my eyes from watering while taking these photos. haha I am really wishing I had some gloves, but I do live in Alabama, so January is basically the only month I would ever wear them.

Because of the cooler weather, I’ve been living by the fireplace and gravitating towards oversized shirts and sweaters and of course, boots. I received my first pair of Hunter Boots for Christmas and have been wearing them nearly every day. Even if it’s not raining. My top is an older version of this one from Madewell – one of my favorite stores in the history of ever. Their clothing is a little expensive, but everything is made really well. See what I did there? 😉
I actually own a pair of jeans from Madewell that are my absolute favorites. This flannel top is so warm and cozy. I bought up a size because I was pregnant at the time, but it is still wonderful to wear with leggings and a cute necklace. Here are a few of my thoughts on why everyone should own a little monochrome:
It is a classic look. I don’t think anyone can argue that it doesn’t get much classier that white and black. Any time I have an event to attend, black is my go-to for party dresses because you can’t go wrong with it.
It is an easy look to dress up or down. I can throw on a statement necklace and some heels to dress up a good black or gray top or I can throw on a pair of flip flops to dress it down depending on the occasion.
It’s practical. I can throw on a black top with leggings, jeans, a skirt or whatever and it will go perfectly. As a mom who is constantly working or running around, getting easily dressed in the mornings is a must. I don’t have time to fuss over my wardrobe or what goes with what.
What do you think of the monochrome look? Do you wear a lot of white, gray and black?

Ever since Autumn hit, I’ve been in love with grey everything and anything (though, I haven’t added to my wardrobe, so it is grey-less). White is not a good color for me, but I do have enough black! I can’t, however, not wear color. It would hurt my soul a little too much. But I do love the idea of it, and wish I could be able to match with no issue because there is nothing to match with (earth tones, black & white & grey go together no matter what!)!
Also, oversized shirts and sweaters are amazing! 😀

I love monochrome looks. They typically hide baby slobber well. 😉

I love monochrome, it’s pretty much my go to always. I have been trying to branch out! Working in the makeup industry for 15 years my entire wardrobe is black! Ha! And I have been wearing my hunters every day too!!! 🙂 I need to check out those pants. They look perfect!
