Do you remember your first pair of shoes? I still have mine. They are little ballet flats with lavender flowers on the toes. When it came to choosing my daughter’s first pair, I knew hands down where to buy them. Freshly Picked has been a favorite brand of mine for a long time. I bought my daughter’s crib moccasins from there as her first pair of shoes and she wore them all the time. My heart broke when she outgrew them, but I was super excited to pick out a new pair for her.

These moccs are so adorable and so soft. They are perfect for a little baby or toddler’s growing feet. I picked “Merci” for SR’s new shoes because they are gold and sparkly and perfect for the holiday season. She loves them and wears them almost every day. She is definitely her mother’s child. SR is growing and changing so much. She is scooting and rolling all over the place and has been getting up on her knees and rocking back and forth for about two weeks now. I feel like she is going to crawl any day. I honestly don’t know that I am ready to be chasing 2 mobile kids around, but I am excited at the same time.

SR not only got a new pair of shoes last week, she also got her first tooth…and her second. The first one popped through on Thursday and by Sunday I could feel the second one. I can’t get over how fast her first year is flying by. I would love for it to slow down a hot minute. While we are experiencing a lot of “firsts” we are trying to soak up every moment with her.

Fall is definitely my favorite time of year for fashion. I love boots, scarves, leggings and the rich colors of fall. Being comfy and cozy is a must for me this time of year. I like to wear cute affordable clothes that allow me to chase after two kiddos, but still make me feel good. When I make myself get up and get dressed in the mornings, it helps me be a lot more productive and feel better about myself – especially if I have to run errands. When I stay at home all day, it can be very tempting to stay in my pajamas or sweatpants all day. I have just made up my mind to make myself do it and it has definitely increased my productivity.

I recently bought these leggings and I am totally in love with them. They are the most comfortable pair I own. In fact, I am probably going to buy them in another color as well. I’m wearing the grey/beluga but they definitely look more olive green in person. I also recently purchased this striped top which is also so comfy. I goes great with everything and I love that you can dress it up or down. As far as my wool socks, they are a must for the cooler months. Socks are kind of my thing. I love them so!

Happy Veterans Day! I am so blessed and fortunate to have two grandfathers who served in the army and navy, one of which I am spending the day with! My Poppie is a retired navigator where he served in the Navy for over 20 years. I am constantly amazed by this man. He knows the stars like the back of his hand. He will be 83 years old this month and he still walks 9 holes of gold every week day! Talk about no room for excuses for the grandkids (ha)!

I thought these pants would be perfect to wear today because they are cool and comfortable and so stylish! I love the print and they are the perfect material for an Alabama fall day. I bought these heels on clearance at Nordstrom Rack the last time I was in Jax Beach and I still can’t get over how affordable they were. They are definitely my favorite wedge heels for the fall and winter months.

Dressing weather appropriate during the month of November can be tricky. We normally can’t put our shorts away until January. You never know if it will be cool, cold or hot from day to day. Because of this, I find that light layers work best. Normally, leggings, cardigans, tees and booties basically compile my wardrobe. Adding these fun printed pants to my collection was exciting because they will be great to dress u or down depending on the occasion and I love mixing it up a little every now and then. After all, fashion should be fun and challenging, not boring.

One thing I have not done a great job on in our home is decorating the walls with artwork. That is very strange because I love art. Just ask my family. I have definitely always been the artist out of the bunch, but I also have a deep appreciation for art. Honestly, that is probably why I have had a hard time picking out pieces for our walls because I am so picky and have a hard time settling for the perfect one. Minted is fairly new to me, but I have heard about them through other bloggers. When they let me pick out a few pieces to decorate my walls, I knew it was time and I was more than excited to jump at the opportunity.

There are a few bare spots in our home that I have had a really hard time decorating. The entryway is the biggest. It has always been sort of blah. That was the first space that came to mind. I chose this Season Change piece because it fits so perfectly into the time of year and this season of our lives. Change. There are so many changes coming and I am nervous, but so excited for them. I love the way this art brightened this empty space and brought it to life.

The second place that really needed something was off of our kitchen and living room. This spot has always been so bare and it bothered me. I saw the gold foil prints and jumped on the Alabama one with this spot in mind. I am kind of in love with it and I think it is my favorite by far. The third was the Twinkle Twinkle print that I knew was perfect for SR’s nursery. I am a huge fan of fairy tales and nursery rhymes, so when I saw this, I knew I had to have it for her. It is so important to me to instill a love of literature in my children. I like to do that through bedtime stories and decorating their walls with these tales is just the perfect way to incorporate that love in their rooms.

While Minted was new to me, I have a feeling that this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship. I am already dreaming of the next prints I want to get for our home!  I absolutely love their artwork – in particular this Most Wonderful Time print for Christmas and this Lightly Gilded photo for our bedroom. I also have my eyes on their Christmas Cards! Can you believe it is already that time of year?

Very few things surprise me these days. So many crazy things have happened in the last 5 years of my life that I hardly flinch at things most people would be completely derailed by, however, I was surprised last week. I won’t get into everything that surprised me…yet, but let’s just say, we serve an awesome God. He is faithful to us even when we aren’t. He is always working and moving and just when I stop paying attention to that, BOOM He dang near shocks me. Big things are happening and big changes are coming our way and I am so excited about them (and no, I’m not pregnant).

We are off to my cousin’s wedding tomorrow and I am so looking forward to spending time with my family that I don’t get to see very often. I am looking forward to visiting my home away from home and relaxing at the beach. Be sure to follow along on Snapchat (Logancan) and Instagram!

I can’t believe we are already talking about and preparing for the holidays! This year has really flown by for me. I am beyond excited to celebrate more of SR’s firsts through the season and even more excited to start my Christmas shopping! Because we are on a super tight budget right now, I compiled a list of ways to save money this Holiday Season and thought I’d share them with you!

Ebates is my number one when it comes to shopping online. I love shopping through Ebates because I can shop at my favorite stores and earn cash back with every purchase. Shopping online is so convenient, but I also saved around $100 on Christmas presents last year by using Ebates! I shop through them year round!

Zulily is a great discounted site for kids and women’s clothing and accessories. I have made so many purchases through them since having H! I like to loko at their women’s clothing from time to time, but I mostly shop here for the kids. They have huge name brands that they feature like TOMS and American Girl. I love getting their email alerts for when my favorite stores are on sale at Zulily!

Shop the Sales! During this time of year, it is fairly common to find great sales. In particular, on Black Friday and Cyber Monday which brings me to my next point…

Black Friday Deals! I scored some amazing deals last year on Ryan’s present and even for clothes for the kids! If you don’t want to fight the crowds, most stores now put their sales online, too. Be sure to check them out and shop through Ebates to double the savings!

Amazon is also a great place to save money – particularly on books and electronics. My husband and I are huge readers, so we are constantly on Amazon seeing what kind of deals we can find on the latest novels. Amazon has great sales on electronics this time of year as well, so if you’re in the market for a new camera or computer, be sure to check them out there first before going to Best Buy.

Put a price cap on your gifts. We do this every year and it helps us budget for Christmas. It helps us to know about how much money we are going to spend on everyone to keep things fair and also to keep us from spending a fortune or going Christmas crazy. Not that I’ve done that before.

How powerful is this verse? Back in September, I started BSF (Bible Study Fellowship). Many of you have probably heard of it because this bible study is worldwide. It is so neat to think that women in France or England are studying the exact same thing we are here in Alabama. It unites us, in a way. We have been studying the book of Revelation, and it has made a huge impact on me. I have read through Revelation a few times, but I have never really studied it like this before.

Through this study, it has opened my eyes to see that here on earth, nothing matters. I’ve always been the type of person who would get my feelings hurt very easily and then want nothing to do with the person who hurt me anymore. It’s a bad habit that I am constantly working to break because I know people are only human and we all make mistakes. These mistakes don’t mean anything when paired with eternity and our souls. When you think about life from this perspective, it just doesn’t matter. 

What matters is if you are loving God and loving people. Speak life into people because too many times a day we are speaking hurtful and negative words to people or hearing them spoken to us and it is discouraging. It gets people down. We need to build each other up. We need to be spreading the gospel every day because in the end, the gospel, God, Christ, Eternity, that’s all that matters. 


Isn’t it encouraging that God is immeasurably MORE than we can even imagine? That’s saying a lot because in my mind, He is everything. God is bigger than that guy joking on the way your kid talks or the woman criticizing the way you dress. He holds us and cares for us, but above all even through the pain and sadness we must put him through when we behave badly, He loves us through it all, unconditionally.

H is in full exploration toddler mode 24/7 lately. This makes mama very nervous. He has no fear. He jumps off of things, climbs everything, opens every drawer and cabinet.
