As I mentioned yesterday, I had a stomach virus over the weekend, but that is not the only sickness that has been going around our house. Sophie had hand, foot and mouth a couple of weeks ago as well, so I have had my essential oils diffusing and have been taking lots of precautions to make sure the sickness stays out of our house for good this time because we are so ready to feel better and get back to our normal routine. All of this has really thrown me off of everything from my exercise routine to my blogging schedule and I am definitely ready to get back to normal around here.
Life’s Tough, Get a Helmet
I try really hard to stay positive on here because who enjoys reading sad posts? I gain encouragement and inspiration from reading bogs that are uplifting and positive, and so I try to write with that in mind. I did promise myself that I would be transparent on my blog because I enjoy reading blogs that are real and honest. So, I’m going to be honest and real today.
Last week was a really tough week. I was pretty sick and topped it off by getting a stomach virus on Saturday after we visited Thomas the Train. We barely made it home before I got sick. I’m still not sure if I had a bug or if it was something I ate. All I know is it was bad and I haven’t been that sick in a very long time. On top of that, Hampton still has not been sleeping which has caused a lot of foul moods in our household. When I don’t get my sleep, I am less than chipper. There have been a lot of crazy things that have happened this week in my personal life. It’s been heartbreaking and dissapointing, and sometimes, I just want to quit, become a mermaid and move to the beach.
I’ve decided that instead of all of these lovely life things getting me down, I am going to look for the positive in everything. Yes, our closing date has been pushed back and back, but it will happen and we will have our own house again, soon. Yes, Hampton is still adjusting to his big boy bed, but he will get used to it eventually and we will all sleep again. This year has been really hard for my family, but there is no doubt in my mind that it will end in endless amounts of blessings. My mom wrote on the mirror by the back door this verse: Psalm 34:17 “When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all of their troubles.” We have been praying this as a family and we believe that our troubles will not last much longer. Things are going to get better. And it starts with this weekend!
My in-laws are graciously keeping our kids for us and Ryan and I are off to the beach! The last time we went on a trip with no kids was 2 years ago to Ryan’s business conference which was not a vacation for him, so we are thrilled! To say I am excited is an understatement. It’s almost sad how excited I am for this break! I can’t wait to feel the sand between my toes and smell the delicious beach waves! And sleep! I’m so excited to sleep! haha
Life is going to be hard. We are told that, but it’s how you deal with the struggles that make you who you are. I’ve tried to be extremely quiet through our craziness. In fact, I haven’t posted a Facebook status in months. I have tried to always be kind to everyone, and sometimes that means me being extremely quiet and biting my tongue in half. I am choosing to see life through a more positive lens. I have to admit, it is impossible to look at my babies and not smile. Even if we are in a zombie like state. 🙂
Weekly Goals and a Giveaway
This week is going to be very exciting and busy for our family! Ryan has a big week with work related things, we are having Sophie’s 1 year photos taken (pinch me) along with some family shots, and lots of other fun things. In the midst of our busy, there are a few things I have to get done this week. Sometimes, I get so caught up in life’s little tasks that I don’t focus enough on what really matters. Last week was one of those weeks. I’m embarrassed to say that Hamp asked me to take him to the park nearly every day last week and I didn’t take him. I am determined to take him this week at some point!

T.G.I.F.
This week, we have been so out of sorts. Sophie has had Hand, Foot and Mouth, so she hasn’t been sleeping and has basically been miserable. Hampton (finally) climbed out of his crib this week and fell pretty hard. It hurt him and scared him, so we decided it was time to take off the rail and flip his crib into a toddler bed. That seemed like a great idea and it was definitely time, but he has been waking up around 5 every morning and ready to play. I don’t do 5a.m. so well. I’m definitely more of a night owl, especially lately, so this has been a big adjustment.
6 Ways to Beat Stress

Every new year, I start seeing resolutions fill up my news feeds. I see people starting new jobs, new diets, new exercise plans – all with the sole purpose of overcoming something or improving themselves in some way. Goals are great! Bettering your self is wonderful! What’s even better is seeing people achieving their goals a few months later. Each stage of life has many stresses and I have seen so many people going through a hard time or putting a lot of pressure on themselves to do it all. It messes with a lot of people. It messes with me sometimes when my expectations become the expectations I think others have for me. When I start trying to please everyone else is when I lose focus and become very stresses.
Some Things in Life Are Obvious, Like Captain Obvious
Some things in life are just plain obvious. For example, it is obvious that Carrie Underwood is gorgeous and an amazing vocalist. It is obvious that Ben was an awesome Bachelor and it is totally obvious who should win the 2016 presidential election…Captain Obvious!
A Relaxing Weekend
The kids and I have been a little under the weather this past weekend. We have all developed little colds that I am sure is from the weather being 80 degrees and then 45. We went from playing outside in shorts and tank tops one minute to freezing cold in sweatshirts the next. As most of you other mothers know, it is so tough to take care of sick kids while you are sick too. So, it’s been a fun few days. The positive side of it? We have definitely caught up on lots of snuggle time and watched cute little movies and shows with the babies. Of course, their attention span when it comes to T.V. is 10 minutes when we get lucky, but Hamp did make it through an entire episode of Paw Patrol.
4 Ways to Prepare for Spring
I can’t believe spring is almost here. Well, it definitely IS here in Alabama. The weather has been perfect this week and we have spent more time outside and less time on the computer which has been really nice and very needed. I am so ready for the spring season, warmer weather and all the fun that comes along with a new season. The pollen can stay away, but I love the spring blossoms, the floral print dresses and sandals! So, here are a are ways you can get ready for spring, because it’s definitely coming!
6 Reasons to Love Monday
Happy Monday everyone! We had a fun and busy weekend, but today it is back on the grind! I can’t wait to tell you all about the little brunch I hosted for my best friend this weekend as well as the much needed friend time I got. We played outside a lot and I even went jogging for the fist time in a couple of weeks which felt awesome at the time, but I am suffering for that time off today. Ouch. So, in the spirit of Mondays, I am filling you in on the perks of this glorious day and if you stay until the end, there might even be a little something something for you! Okay, there definitely is a little something something for you!
6 Things To Look Forward to The Week of Thanksgiving
I love the week of Thanksgiving. All of the excitement and hustle and bustle of the entire week is so thrilling. It’s also the kick off to the holiday season. It’s non-stop shopping, wrapping, eating, and celebrating from here on out to 2016! – At least, it is for my family. So what are the 6 things I’m most looking forward to this Thanksgiving week?
Black Friday Shopping – Most people don’t like to fight the crowds anymore now that you can do a lot of shopping online, but there is just something about getting up really early with my aunts, grandma and cousins and going on a mad shopping spree to get all of our Christmas presents.
Cooking and Baking – I’m not sure how much cooking I will be doing this year since we are moving, but I think my mom put me in charge of the grape salad. wah wah. Oh, well. There is always next year, right? I do so look forward to walking into my grandparent’s house and smelling her amazing cooking and baking. She is an incredible cook so Thanksgiving is always a pleasure at her house!
Lots and Lots of Eating – Who doesn’t look forward to the eating? I don’t care what kind of diet you’re on, Thanksgiving is the one day a year you should break it and enjoy the delicious food. I’m looking forward to all of the classics this year: turkey, dressing, chicken and dumplin’s (this is a staple in my family) and my Maw Maw’s lemon pie! Yum!
Smack Talking and Watching Football – It’s Rivalry week which means Iron bowl time in Alabama (War Eagle). Let’s just say that fans of opposing teams tend to stray away from each other this week and probably a week or two after. Sad, but true. We are very mature about our football games around here.
Family Photos – I love taking pictures with all of my family. We have made it a tradition to take a photo of all the girl cousins on my mom’s side of the family every year now for a long time. It’s fun to see how everyone grows and changes over time. These photos are so precious to me and I look forward to them because I am a bit of a picture hoarder.
Visiting with Family and Friends you don’t get to see very often. – I love spending time with my extended family during the holidays. They have also been a huge deal to my family and so we celebrate big. I have lots of cousins and now several little second cousins and I love seeing them. We have way too much fun together and we always go Black Friday shopping which is hilariously fun.
What are you most looking forward to this Thanksgiving week?
