Take me back to Europe!

January 10, 2013

Last weekend was amazing. I got to spend some much needed girl time with one of my best friends, Lindsey. We have known each other since 1st grade when she and her family moved here from Florida. Our mothers grew up together and are best friends as well. Pretty cool.

Please excuse the blurry pictures as they were taken with my iphone.

She and her husband just got back from an eleven day vacation where they spent Christmas in London and New Years in Paris. How amazing is that? They brought spicy mustard and cheese from Paris that we got to try – délicieux! As we were going through their pictures, it really took me back to our honeymoon. You can read more about that here. If you ever get the chance to travel to Europe, do it! You won’t regret it. I love it there because the history is so rich. One thing I really love about London and Paris is the architecture. Everything there is preserved unlike here in the states. We have some older buildings, but nothing like London and Paris. It is truly breathtaking.

Notre Dame in Paris, France

As we were talking and catching up, we decided we were going to drag our husbands back to Europe in the summer of 2014. We want to wait until then so that we have time to save money. We aren’t sure exactly where we are going to go, but Germany, France and Ireland are in the mix. I can’t wait to brush up on learn German and brush up on relearn my high school level French. Luckily they speak English in Ireland…and most every where else since most kids are required to learn multiple languages in Europe. They are very cultured people. It made me feel kind of dumb going over there and only knowing English while EVERYONE spoke fluent English in France.

I can’t wait to continue planning our big trip and studying up on the history of the places we will go. Ryan and Lindsey are both huge history buffs so I have some catching up to do. If any of you have recommendations on cities, restaurants, museums to visit, books to read, etc. please let me know! I know several of my readers are in Europe so I’d love advice!

Hopefully we will be able to do a big trip this year as well. Ryan and I have been talking about going somewhere this summer. What good is a passport if it just sits in your closet, right? I’d love to travel so much more than we do, but unfortunately, it can be pretty expensive.

Do you have any big travel plans this year?

From London to Paris

October 3, 2012

It’s hard to believe that we were in Europe nearly a year ago. Our honeymoon was an amazing experience. Ryan and I love to travel and going to Europe has always been a dream of mine. The architecture is breathtaking and the culture, fascinating. I am slightly obsessed with the royal family, so we were in a constant hunt for Princess Catherine and of course H.R.H. Queen Elizabeth! Unfortunately we had no luck as we did not run into them as planned.

“Mind the gap, please,” as you view a few pictures from our trip! I hope you enjoy!

Big Ben and Parliament
Buckingham Palace
Piccadilly
Westminister Abbey- probably my favorite place we went in all of London. It was breathtaking. I loved reading about all of the history and thinking about all the royals who have married there and are buried in the Cathedral itself.
Tower Bridge
Stonehenge is about 2 hours outside of London! It was definitely worth the trip. The countryside is beautiful and worth seeing.
We loved the Louvre! I could have spent a week in there.
Notre Dame
I had to snag Ryan’s jacket because Paris was much colder than London!
The eiffel tower was much larger than I had anticipated.
GO to London and Paris if you ever get the chance. It was a spectacular experience. It’s truly breathtaking.
