Potty Training Woes

Potty training Hamp has been a huge struggle. He has good days and bad days, but he is still far from being completely potty trained. With our third baby coming in 7 (or less) weeks, I am feeling a lot of pressure to get him potty trained so that we don’t have three in diapers. He will be 3 in late October, so I feel like we should really be farther along than we are and it has been extremely frustrating for both of us.

Potty Training Woes

Some days he will potty all throughout the day in his potty, but other days he refuses to go at all. We have tried standing, sitting, potty seat, no potty seat, bribing with candy, etc. Nothing seems to be getting through to him. One thing we have not done is let him go naked. A lot of people have told me to do this, but because we are currently living at my parent’s house, I feel really bad doing that. We may be picking a day very soon to go outside and play naked so that he can become more aware of his bodily functions.

Pull Ups and Potty Training

One thing that has helped both of us is Huggies® Pull-Ups®, and GoodNites®! They have been so wonderful on his good days because they are easy to pull up and down instead of fooling with a diaper. They have been awesome on our bad days as well because they protect our home from messes and I don’t have to wash bed sheets all day. Hallelujah! I need all the help I can get, so I am very thankful for these and for Huggies® wipes when we have what I like to call “in-between messes”. Meaning, between changes. It happens. Especially with little boys. We grabbed all of these products at our new Walmart Neighborhood Market that just opened a few months ago. I love to grocery shop here for certain things and it is really easy and convenient to pick up our necessities!

The funny thing is, Sophie has started telling us before she poops every single time. I feel like she may be easier to potty train right now than Hamp has been. We are seriously debating trying to let her go ahead and potty train as well. Is 16 months too early for that? Even though I’m about to be a mom of three, I still feel like a new mom and this is all so new to me that I feel completely clueless sometimes.
