Postpartum Essentials and How to Prepare for After Birth

As most of you know by now, we are expecting baby #3 the first week of November! As the days tick speedily by, I have started to feel the need to prepare for our new little arrival. Because we are in a weird situation this go around – living at my parents house while our home is being built (expected to be complete by November 1st) – getting ready for our little guy is a little bit more tricky. We will likely move the week he is due or immediately after I have him. So, the only way I know how to really prepare is by stocking up on the essentials. With my first baby, I was completely focused on the his nursery and other essentials that I forgot all about postpartum essentials for myself.

After having two babies, I feel like I have a pretty good idea of what I need this time around. Baby boy is pretty covered with hand-me-downs, but I have a lot of work to do as far as stocking up on supplies for myself. So, how am I preparing this time around? By stocking up on postpartum essentials.

Postpartum Essentials You Will Need After Giving Birth:

Pads – I purchased U by Kotex® Security® Ultra Thin Overnight Pads, U by Kotex® Security® Ultra Thin Pads – LONG and U by Kotex® Barely There Liners from CVS! You can pick up just about every one of the following essentials there, making it very convenient. I love using U by Kotex® because their products are not only comfortable and last, but they also care about what you and I need in a feminine product.

Perineal Bottle

Pain medication

Compression tank tops

Belly band

Breast Pump

Lanolin cream

Nursing Bras

Comfortable clothing

Moisturizers (I love coconut oil)

Coffee – lots and lots of coffee

Other ways to get prepared for postpartum are:

Asking for help from family or friends with your other children. I am going to make arrangements with my two toddlers to stay with family while we are in the hospital. That way, I don’t have to worry about them and know they are being cared for while I heal and we bond with our sweet baby boy before taking him home.

Prepare Frozen Meals

Start stocking up early on non-perishable items like bottled water, canned foods, etc.

Stock up on household essentials like paper items, soap, U by Kotex® pads, etc.

Postpartum Essentials

Without a doubt, the best thing to stock up on are U by Kotex® pads. I bled for 8 weeks after having Hampton and 5 after Sophie. Let’s just talk about how many pads I went through. So many. U by Kotex® designs all of their products to make periods and postpartum easier and more manageable. I am also excited to try Only U by Kotex® Security®Pads with Wings because they have a cottony Soft Touch™ Cover, for amazing comfort which is definitely something I am all about when thinking of postpartum essentials.

Have you tried U by Kotex® products? Which is your favorite for postpartum or “that time” of the month?
