Lately, I’ve been trying to change my eating habits and trying to live a healthier lifestyle. Some days are better than others, but one thing that has helped me has been to write down what I eat for every meal. It helps hold me accountable and makes me more aware of what is going into my body.

Carolina Pad’s Studio C magnetic journal has been perfect for my new journalism experience. It is a beautiful book and has a magnetic flap that makes it feel more private. It has definitely helped keep me motivated. Carolina Pad offers more than journals, they also offer bags, totes, school and office supplies and organizational tools. You can read more about their products here. You can also follow them on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest to stay up to date on their products.

Carolina Pad is giving away a free Fasionista Collection Magnetic Journal to one of my lucky readers! Enter in the rafflecopter below to win.

Wait, that’s not all! They are also offering a 20% discount to my readers by using code “Blog20SSCB” at checkout through March 15th!

Cara Box

Hi there! I hope you have all had a wonderful start to your week. We are halfway to the weekend! Woo hoo! I have so many new readers, welcome to you!

My sweet friend Ashley told me about Cara Box this past month. I had heard of it but wasn’t really sure what it was or how to get involved. I was excited to participate this month because of the “Club Sexy” theme as well as the fact that we were being paired based on our state. This past month I have been introduced to so many wonderful Bama ladies. They actually just met up for a blate that I was absolutely sick to miss out on, but that’s life.

I gave my Cara Box to Ashley, and Lauren gave me hers. I was so excited to be paired with these two. Lauren did an amazing job picking out my goodies. If you’ve been around for a while, you know I have been trying to live a healthier lifestyle. She purchased things that would not mess up my workouts or throw off my diet, which was perfect. When asked what my favorite date night is, I told Lauren that my husband and I are extremely laid back. Most of the time after a long day of work, all we want to do is chill at home and watch movies. We also enjoy cooking together and hiking whenever we get the chance to.

Lauren gave me a “Clean Eating” magazine with amazing recipes in it that “won’t undo our hike.” She bought me a coffee cozie, which I’m obsessed with, as well as a stick of chapstick, so we can smooch on our movie nights (HA). She also included some trail mix for our hiking trips and chocolate covered pretzels for our movie nights at home. How thoughtful is she?

Lauren, thank you so much for my goodies! I love them all. Ashley, I hope you enjoy your goodies that I picked out for you!

If you have never heard of eKoffee, I highly recommend you check them out. If you’ve been around my blog for a while, you know that I am a coffee addict. I love coffee in any form – hot, cold, frozen, or in a drip. I love it! I was pretty excited that eKoffee decided to sponsor my blog and couldn’t wait to promote them, but then I tried their coffee and something magical happened. I’m not exaggerating! It is some of the best coffee I have ever had – and I’ve tried coffee from many places. eKoffee offers coffee from all over the world and provides them at an affordable price. I give my coffee 5 stars for sure! I can’t get enough and will definitely be ordering from them again in the future. If you’re interested in the roast I received, you can read about it here.
eKoffee is your online marketplace for fresh roasted coffee; drop shipped directly from small and mid-sized roasters all over the country to our customers’ doorstep.  We carefully select and partner with only the best roasters and help them bring their local premium product of fresh roasted coffee to the national market.  If you love coffee but have never experienced fresh roasted coffee before, we urge you browse eKoffee.com and try some of our amazing coffee offerings that are packed with flavor and freshness.  Many of our customers have not gone back to their “other” coffee of choice after experiencing eKoffee for the first time.  We hope that you will give us a try, see for yourself, and experience an upgrade to your usual coffee drinking routine.

Big Cherry Holler by Adriana Trigiani
The Random House Publishing Group, 2001

First Line: The rain is coming down on this old stone house so hard, it seems there are a hundred tap dancers on the roof.

From the back cover: Eight years have passed since Ave Maria Mulligan married Jack Mack, moved up into the hills, and dug her roots in even deeper. Bust Ave Maria soon discovers that the mountains cannot shelter her from the painful lessons of the heart. As her life reaches a crossroads, almost everybody in town has advice to offer- including the Bookmobile’s self-appointed sexpert Iva Lou Wade, savvy pharmacy owner Pearl Grimes (“a very mature twenty-four”), crusty chain-smoking cashier Fleeta and of course, the always-wise band director Theodore Tipton, no unofficially “out” and about. But when Ave Maria takes her daughter to Italy for the summer, her passion for a seductive stranger will test her marriage- and push her to choose the man who is truly her destiny.

My Thoughts: I absolutely adored book #1 of the Big Stone Gap series, so I couldn’t wait to read book #2. Big Cherry Holler did not disappoint. It takes a wild twist that you don’t see coming which makes it exciting and devastating at the same time. This book introduces the reader to an older Ave Maria who has been married for over a decade and had 2 children, but after losing her youngest, her marriage starts to take a turn for the worst. This is a wonderful story about never giving up and working through pain and loss.

The story also takes us back to Italy (which I am a total sucker for) and gives you a taste of that Italian tradition. Ave Maria takes her daughter Etta to meet the extended family and she falls in love with her Italian heritage, and a certain Italian boy as well.

I love how these books incorporate a lot of comic relief in the middle of a sad or tough moment so that the books never get too depressing. This series is about real life. You’ll find no fairy tale love stories here. This teaches you to work at it. Love is never simple and it is something you must always work for and fight for.

While I’ve got you here, meet Andi from Just Another Smith!

Hey there!  I’m Andi from Just Another Smith, because (you guessed it) my last name is Smith, and there are just so many of us in the world.  I mostly blog about my daily outfits.  I have loved shopping and fashion since I was a kid!  Now I’m in that awkward twenty-something stage where I still feel like a teenager, but I really shouldn’t dress like one, so I am trying to keep it professional and age-appropriate while still having fun with  my clothes.  Throughout February, I’m participating in the “Take One, Pass It On” challenge, which has been fun and, well, challenging!

In addition to being a wannabe fashionista, I’m also a bit of a bookworm, so I tend to post book reviews from time to time.  And last but not least, I am aspiring to be a craftier person, so I hope to tackle more sewing and DIY type projects in the coming months.

I hope you will stop by and say hello!  I’m always excited to meet new blog friends!

Its GIVEAWAY day!!

Did you get everything that you wanted for Valentines Day?

If there is still something that you have your eyes on, no worries me and a few of my favorite ladies are here to help. One lucky person is going to WIN a $50 Gift Card to Target, for any of those last minute must haves!

Good Luck

Stay Crafty,

I feel like so many people are going through a rough time right now. Whether it is finances, heart aches, health issues, or tough relationships. I have friends going through all of the above and personally. I am going through some of them myself.

I wholeheartedly believe in speaking life into people. Words are so important because you can rip someone to pieces or you can lift their spirits and give them the encouragement they may need to get through the day. I wanted to give all of you a little encouragement today along with myself. I could definitely use it right now.

Via
I love this quote because it is so true. Everyone is going through something and no matter how insignificant it may seem to you, it may be the hardest thing they’ve ever had to go through. Always be mindful of others through your words. Think before asking someone when they are going to get married because they may be struggling with commitment issues or haven’t found the right guy yet. Think before asking a married couple when they are going to have children because they might be having a hard time getting pregnant. Think before  asking someone why they never smile because they may have just lost a job or someone they love. Always be mindful of others.
Via
I have a friend who is going through a serious illness. He is getting some pretty important results today, which is why I chose to share this verse. What powerful words on a day like today. Take comfort in knowing that God knows. He hears you and he can heal you. No matter what you are going through, He can help you. He will see you through.
Via
This is a verse that gives me a lot of comfort, but it is also very challenging for me. I am a worrier. I’m constantly worrying about what will come next or everything I have to accomplish tomorrow before I’m even through today. I’m constantly fearful of what the future will bring. It helps to know that the big guy upstairs holds my future. He knows what will happen and will help me through everything ahead of me – the good and the bad.
I’m sorry if I rambled too much in this post. These were just a few things on my heart that I wanted to share with you. I hope you all have a wonderful week! If there is anything I can pray for you for, please let me know. I would love to add you to my prayer list.

Today, my Extra Shots of Espresso girls are sharing their favorite Valentine’s dates. I hope you enjoy reading these beautiful memories. Please stop by their blogs and say hello!

Becca @ Faith, Love & Babies

Favorite Valentine’s Date: Last year, KC took me out to a nice dinner and a movie and got me a nice gift too. 😉

Tarole @ One Haole Girl

Favorite Valentine’s Date: A couple years ago for our first Valentine’s together, Mike took me out for a sunset catamaran cruise right out of Waikiki. It was beautiful and so romantic. Afterwards he took me to a Pho style restaurant where you can cook your own soup! 🙂

Breanna @ Sweet Silver Lining

Favorite Valentine’s Date: I’ve never had a date on Valentine’s! Is that bad? Besides, I’m pretty sure there would be too much pressure!

Kenzie @ Life According to Kenz

Favorite Valentine’s Date: Never been on a date – so my favorite memory would be my siblings and I sending the same card back and forth each year with a new message to our Grandpa. 🙂

Myranda @ Pretty Living PDX

Favorite Valentine’s Date: That would have to be revisiting our first date spot with my husband.

Jessinia @ Sea, Glass & Ribbons

Favorite Valentine’s Date: I’ve been single all my life (by choice-read more about this on my blog). so, my favorite Valentine’s day date would have to be just hanging out with my friends and watching chick flicks.

Ashley @ Your Girl for All Seasonings

Favorite Valentine’s Date: Most of our Valentine’s dates are a low key dinner at home, sharing cheap chocolates and snuggling while watching our favorite shows or movies.

Welcome to the third week of Monday Mingling! We had over 80 people link-up last week! How awesome!  I hope you will join us again and link-up below.

As we mentioned last week, we have started offering a co-host option. Due to an overwhelming response, we have co-hosts set up for the next 8 weeks! Please introduce yourself to our first two ladies and be sure to follow their blogs!
