I’m a little late getting this up. Hamp was 2 weeks last Thursday. Our second week has been much better than the first! Hampton has been sleeping a lot better at night and even slept 6 hours straight one night! I also started pumping which has made life more complicated in some ways but a lot easier in others. I feel like I can actually leave the house without worrying about where I am going to breastfeed which has been a lot less stressful. We also went on a couple of walks which was really nice. I’ve been feeling a lot better and I’ve been going so stir crazy sitting in our house for 2 weeks, so getting out and walking was a relief. We have had tons of visitors every day and it has been so fun seeing all of our family and friends come together for our little man. I am definitely ready for things to calm down so that we can get into a routine and start this new journey. Here are a few pictures from our 2nd week with Hamp!

Ryan’s grandmother was supposed to bring us lunch today at 12pm and Ryan was going to try to get home around 11 to give me a chance to shower before she got here.

It had been a rough morning with baby. He was not happy and the only thing that would make him stop screaming was to nurse him but he had had more than enough to eat. I even have him a bottle to make sure he was getting enough.
At 11, I took him to his nursery to change his diaper. He had pooped. A lot. While I was changing him, he decided to pee all over me. I threw the clean diaper over him to catch it. After cleaning him up he started peeing again. All over me and himself. I grabbed a third diaper and threw it over him. I was a little late this time. He soaked his onesie and my nightgown. He started screaming and I started cleaning him up all while I’m also soaked in pee. Then the doorbell rang.
Ryan doesn’t ring the doorbell. Oh, crap! It’s his grandmother! She’s early. So I run to the door in my pee soaked nightgown and a half naked soaked baby who is screaming. Bless her heart.
Of course I was so embarrassed. I apologized for my appearance and told her what had just happened. She just laughed and helped me clean baby up and let me go clean myself too. All I could do was laugh and think this is my life now. Haha and I wouldn’t change it for anything in the world.
I love this sweet baby, pee and all! So how was your morning?

I can’t wait to share our incredible birth story on here later. It was a true blessing and the most amazing experience of my life. God definitely had a hand in Hampton’s birth. Thank you so much for your prayers and kind words. We are having his newborn photo session today and I can’t wait to share the pictures with you soon! Here are a few pictures from our first week home.

Happy Halloween to all of my readers! My little monster spit up all over his outfit about two seconds after I took this picture. Haha we have wild plans to stay in, pass out candy and watch Hocus Pocus! How are you celebrating tonight?

Today I’m going to share one of our favorite dinners during the fall season! The Cantrell Chili! Get excited because it’s pretty delish. Even better? It only takes 15 minutes prep time to make. If you’re like me, the last thing you want to do after work is spend an hour in the kitchen making dinner. This recipe is great because you can let it cook all day and it will be ready for you when you get home!

Here’s what you will need:
-5 16 oz. cans of chili beans
-1 1/2 lb. of ground turkey (or beef depending on your preference)
-2 packets of chili seasoning
-1 29 oz. can of tomato sauce
-2 8 oz. cans of rotel mild sauce

Directions:
Brown your meat, and drain the grease. Pour the meat, tomato sauce, beans, rotel, and seasoning in a crock-pot, stir it up and set it on high for 2 hours. Stir occasionally. After 2 hours turn it down to low until you are ready to dig in! If you are letting it cook all day, leave it on low rather than setting it on high to start.

It’s official, we are checking into the hospital tonight to be induced and we will have our baby boy sometime tomorrow! I’m slightly disappointed that he didn’t come on his own, but God just has a different plan for us. I am excited, anxious, and a little terrified about the coming hours. Please send prayers our way for a healthy baby and a quick and easy delivery! Thank you so much for all of the encouragement and feedback I received from this post last week. It really lifted my spirits to know I’m not the only soon-to-be mom who had a freak out a week before delivery. I will post pics of our sweet boy on the blog as soon as I can, but in the meantime, be sure to follow me on Instagram here and here! I won’t be posting as often these next couple of weeks but I will as often as I can. Monday Mingling will still be posted so be sure to keep hopping around and meeting some wonderful bloggers. I’ll be back soon! Until then, I’ll be spending time with my little guy and showering him with kisses!

pregnancy

Here are a few things I couldn’t have survived this pregnancy without…

1st Trimester:

During the 1st trimester, I was extremely sick. In fact, it went halfway through my 2nd as well. The things that seemed to help the most are really common sense, but Saltines, ginger ale, and lots of sleep. Taking naps when I felt horrible was a huge help. I woke up feeling refreshed and energized. I carried saltines or peanut butter crackers with me every where and any time I started to feel sick, I would eat a few. It really seemed to help.

2nd Trimester:

Hello heartburn! And then I discovered Tums. I’ve been popping them like candy ever since. My doctor said Tums are totally safe for pregnant women. I may have abused this information, but they have really helped get me through some rough nights.

Exercise helped my energy level and just made me feel good. Walking helped the most, but I did enjoy swimming on days that it was too hot to walk.

Yoga Pants. Who doesn’t love yoga pants? I work from home, so I basically live in them already, but I really appreciated them during this phase of my pregnancy when I didn’t feel big enough to wear maternity pants, but had already outgrown my normal clothes.

The heating pad saved my life. I had terrible sciatica pain for about a month. My doctor said it may or may not go away. Luckily it did! The heating pad really helped especially at night and in the mornings when my back was extremely stiff.

Pilates also helped with my back and hip pains. I really enjoyed prenatal Pilates and I think it really helped me stay somewhat flexible.

3rd Trimester:

Putting a king size pillow between my legs really helped my hips and back feel a lot better when I sleep. We already had them, and didn’t want to spend money on a pregnancy pillow. It is a great alternative.

Sleep. Sleep. Sleep. I have been so tired during the last 5ish weeks of this pregnancy. I can’t hardly focus on anything. I blame it on the pregnancy brain. I try to take naps on the weekends and go to bed early so that I can get as much sleep as possible.

Walking has also helped me feel good. I feel like it has helped me keep my strength and composure during these final weeks. It is also supposed to help you progress. I’m not sure if  it really works or not, but it makes me feel like I’m doing something to help the process.

What are some things you couldn’t live without?
